Abstract

Lingkat Lake which is located in Kerinci regency, Jambi, is known as one of the tourist destinations that has natural beauty and biodiversity. The development of the Lingkat Lake tourist attraction is able to move the economy of the village community with the growth of a supporting business ecosystem such as lodging, restaurants, souvenirs, and transportation services. Although it has great potential, the digital promotion of Lingkat Lake tourism is still very minimal in publication. Digital promotion plays a role in disseminating information massively and creating spaces for interaction and expression. The tourism digital promotion training activity was held to improve the knowledge and skills of Lake Lingkat tourism village managers in designing and creating promotional content on social media. This training uses two approaches, namely a participatory approach and experiential learning to ensure a change in knowledge and understanding of the urgency of digital tourism promotion. The training activities were evaluated through pretest and posttest in the form of a structured questionnaire using a 5-level Likert scale. The results of the evaluation showed that there was an increase in participants' understanding and skills in digital tourism promotion activities. These findings prove that systematic and measurable training is able to increase the capacity and competence of participants in utilizing social media as a means of digital tourism promotion.

Abstract

This community service activity aimed to improve the self-confidence and public speaking skills of vocational high school students in the digital era. The main problems faced by students included low self-confidence, anxiety when speaking in public, and limited understanding of effective communication techniques. The activity was conducted at SMK Muhammadiyah 9 Jakarta involving 80 students through a participatory approach consisting of lectures, discussions, demonstrations, and public speaking practice sessions. Evaluation was carried out through direct observation and performance assessment before and after the training. The results showed noticeable improvements across all assessed indicators. Students’ self-confidence increased from 45% to 80%, courage to perform in public increased from 40% to 82%, clarity of message delivery improved from 50% to 78%, speech organization increased from 48% to 75%, and nonverbal communication skills improved from 42% to 77%. These findings indicate that participatory and practice-based public speaking training effectively enhances students’ communication skills and self-confidence. The program is expected to contribute to the development of adaptive and communicative young generations who are better prepared for the demands of the digital era.

Abstract

Public communication skills are essential in strengthening community-based organizations, including the Family Welfare Empowerment Organization (PKK) as a grassroots platform for women's empowerment. However, PKK members in Bojongsoang still face communication barriers, such as limited self-confidence, public speaking anxiety, and difficulty structuring messages in formal and community forums. This community service program aimed to improve the self-confidence and communication effectiveness of PKK Bojongsoang members through experiential public speaking training. The program involved 43 participants consisting of housewives, Posyandu volunteers, and village officials. The method consisted of need assessment, training design, workshop implementation, performance observation, and post-activity evaluation. The training applied a 30% theory and 70% practice composition through simulations, role play, short speeches, MC practice, peer feedback, and facilitator coaching. Data were analyzed descriptively using frequency and percentage calculations from post-test questionnaires, supported by qualitative interpretation of observation notes and participants' reflections. The findings show that all respondents gave positive responses, with most participants strongly agreeing that the training materials were relevant, clearly delivered, and useful for their communication roles. The activity also produced practical outputs in the form of a public speaking module, participant practice experience, and a follow-up communication group. This program contributes to strengthening the communication capacity and institutional effectiveness of PKK as a community-based organization.
