Abstract

The importance of Endorphin Massage lies in its ability to address various aspects of labor. The purpose of this study was to find the effect of endorphin massage on pain in the first and second stages of active labor in inpartu mothers at the Palopo Health Center. The method used was a Quasy Experiment with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design, which is a type of research that observes population data or samples only once at the same time. The population in this study were all mothers who gave birth normally and the sample in this study was some of the mothers who gave birth at the Palopo Health Center as many as 8 people, of which 4 people were given Endorphin massage and 4 people were not given Endorphine massage with this research sampling carried out in a way Purposive Sampling And use Independent test Sample Test. The results of the study showed that the difference in average pain intensity in the pre-test and post-test in pregnant women was 1.137 with a p-value of 0.000 (<0.05) meaning that there was a difference in average pain intensity before and after being given endorphin massage treatment for 3 consecutive days. The conclusion is that endorphin massage is not painful and prevents the sensation of pain from traveling to the central nervous system. Therefore, stimulation is carried out in a harmless way and is able to suppress pain.

Abstract

One of the complications of spontaneous abortion is bleeding which if not treated quickly can increase maternal mortality rates. Vaginal bleeding is a common complaint that is often encountered and is a fairly high cause of a woman coming to the hospital, especially if it is known or suspected that there is a pregnancy. This study is a type of analytical survey, the design of this study is an observational analytical study with a cross-sectional approach. Samples were taken using a purposive sampling technique. The results of the cross-tabulation of the relationship between the age of pregnant women and the incidence of abortion obtained the results that at the age of pregnant women who are at risk, most experience abortion (92.3 % ), while the age of pregnant women who are not at risk mostly do not experience abortion (84.3%). The conclusion is that there is a fairly strong relationship between the age of pregnant women and the incidence of abortion of 0.592 (based on the Contingency Coefficient test).

Abstract

Postpartum hemorrhage is the most common cause of maternal death. Primary postpartum hemorrhage is postpartum hemorrhage that occurs within the first 24 hours of birth. The purpose of this paper is to determine the factors associated with uterine atony in mothers who experience postpartum hemorrhage at the Pasar Minggu District Health Center in 2023. The research method used in this study is analytical with a cross-sectional approach to obtain factors related to independent and dependent variables, followed by analyzing the factors related to uterine atony in mothers who experience postpartum hemorrhage analytically. The results of the study showed that there was a relationship between age and uterine atony in mothers who experienced postpartum hemorrhage with an X2 hit value of 4.07, there was a relationship between parity and uterine atony in mothers who experienced postpartum hemorrhage with an X2 hit value of 6.64, there was no relationship between fetal weight and uterine atony in mothers who experienced postpartum hemorrhage with an X2 hit value of 0.524, there was a relationship between anemia status and uterine atony in mothers who experienced postpartum hemorrhage with an X2 hit value of 7.96, there was no relationship between the distance of delivery and uterine atony in mothers who experienced postpartum hemorrhage with an X2 hit value of 2.126. Conclusions and Suggestions age, parity, anemia status, are factors related to uterine atony in mothers who experienced postpartum hemorrhage, but fetal weight, and distance of delivery are not factors related to uterine atony in mothers who experienced postpartum hemorrhage. It is hoped that it will be able to detect complications early, encouraging mothers to have regular ANC check-ups at least 4 times during pregnancy.

Abstract

Polyscias scutellaria, commonly known as mangkokan in Indonesia or shield aralia, has long been used in traditional Southeast Asian medicine and is gaining attention for its diverse pharmacological properties. This plant exhibits significant antibacterial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, galactopoietic, antidiabetic, and anticancer activities, making it a promising candidate for therapeutic and cosmetic applications. Ethanol and ethyl acetate extracts of Polyscias scutellaria show notable antibacterial effects against various pathogens, including Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, and Propionibacterium acnes. The plant’s bioactive compounds, such as flavonoids, tannins, and saponins, contribute to these effects, indicating its potential as a natural antimicrobial agent. Additionally, studies have revealed its antifungal activity against Candida albicans, with minimum inhibitory concentrations above 6400 μg/mL, suggesting its therapeutic potential in treating fungal infections. The galactopoietic properties of Polyscias scutellaria are particularly noteworthy in maternal health, with research demonstrating increased prolactin and oxytocin levels in lactating rats, as well as improved mammary gland structure and enhanced offspring survival. These findings support the plant’s potential as a natural supplement for promoting lactation. Moreover, its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects have been shown to mitigate oxidative stress and regulate pro-inflammatory cytokines, reinforcing its role in supporting immune health and managing inflammation-related conditions. In diabetic models, Polyscias scutellaria has demonstrated a capacity to significantly lower blood glucose levels in alloxan-induced rats, with higher doses showing the most pronounced effects, although not surpassing the efficacy of standard metformin treatment. The plant also promotes hair growth, with topical application of its extract resulting in hair length and weight improvements comparable to those of commercial hair growth treatments such as minoxidil. Virtual screening has also identified Polyscias scutellaria bioactive compounds as potential inhibitors of Bcl-2, a protein involved in cervical cancer, suggesting its anticancer properties. These findings underscore the diverse pharmacological activities of Polyscias scutellaria, positioning it as a valuable resource for developing natural therapeutic and cosmetic products. However, further clinical studies are needed to optimize its use, ensure safety, and evaluate its efficacy in human applications.
