Abstract

The field of health and communication has experienced significant growth over the past three decades, driven by the increasing integration of digital technologies in public health and the demand for effective health information dissemination. This study aims to explore global trends in health and communication research through a bibliometric analysis of publications indexed in the Scopus database from 1995 to 2025. Using bibliometric indicators such as publication volume, authorship patterns, institutional and country collaborations, and keyword co-occurrence, this research identifies major contributors, thematic developments, and emerging research fronts in the field. The study used bibliometric analysis of 210 publications in the Scopus database from 1995 to 2025. Publication data was selected using the keyword "health AND communication." Data processing was conducted by co-occurrence between keywords and data presentation with overlay visualization. The results of data processing with VosViewer and R-Studio revealed shifts in research topics in 1995 to 2025. The findings reveal an upward trend in scholarly output, with a notable concentration of publications originating from high-income countries. Furthermore, the analysis highlights the growing importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and digital health themes. This study provides valuable insights for researchers, policymakers, and institutions seeking to understand the evolution of health communication research and to identify gaps and opportunities for future exploration.

Abstract

Parents of children with Down syndrome face ongoing challenges in accessing relevant and trustworthy health information. With the increasing use of digital platforms, understanding parents’ needs and preferences is crucial for developing effective and inclusive digital health services. This study aims to map the digital health information needs of parents of children with Down syndrome, identify preferred information sources and digital platforms, and explore expectations regarding features of digital health applications. Methods use A descriptive quantitative study was conducted using a structured questionnaire distributed to parents of children with Down syndrome in Indonesia. Data were analyzed to assess patterns of digital information usage, platform preferences, and specific content and feature expectations. The results findings indicate that 83.6% of parents frequently seek digital health information, with WhatsApp groups (81.8%) and community networks like POTADS (80.0%) being the most accessed sources. Parents expressed a strong preference for digital tools that are free, user-friendly, and available in the local language. The most desired features in a health application include home-based therapy guidance (94.5%), educational videos (87.3%), parent forums (72.7%), and online consultation with healthcare professionals (67.3%). There is a high demand among parents for digital health platforms that offer accessible, relevant, and interactive content tailored to the needs of children with Down syndrome. Designing effective digital services requires collaboration across sectors and the integration of digital health literacy initiatives into existing family support systems to ensure equitable access and improved care outcomes.

Abstract

Workplace accidents pose a serious risk, especially in rural areas where formal occupational safety training is limited or nonexistent. This study investigates the effectiveness of the demonstration method in improving community knowledge and preparedness in handling work related injuries in Parit Keladi I Village. Using a qualitative participatory action research design, the study involved seven informants selected purposively, including farmers, community leaders, and health workers. Data collection methods included in depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation. Prior to the intervention, most participants relied on traditional or instinctive methods to treat injuries, often resulting in improper or delayed care. The introduction of demonstration based training significantly improved their understanding of proper first aid techniques, including wound cleaning, bandaging, and the use of antiseptics. Participants reported increased confidence and readiness to respond to accidents. The training was well received, with strong community engagement and support from local leadership, highlighting the potential for sustainability. The study concludes that the demonstration method is an effective, culturally sensitive approach to safety education in rural settings. It bridges the gap between knowledge and practice and fosters a proactive attitude toward accident prevention. Future efforts should include regular refresher sessions and leadership empowerment to strengthen the culture of safety within the community.

Abstract

The increase in the number of elderly people in Indonesia is related to increasing health problems, including a decline in cognitive function due to the aging process. One of the disorders that occur in the elderly is dementia, which is characterized by a decrease in memory, thinking, and the ability to carry out daily activities. To prevent cognitive decline, one of the non-pharmacological interventions that can be applied is brain exercises. This study aims to determine the effect of brain gymnastics on improving cognitive function in the elderly. The type of research used in this study is quantitative research using a pre-experimental research design using a one group pretest and posttest design approach with a sampling technique, namely purposive sampling with a sample of 25 elderly respondents living in Graha Werdha Marie Joseph Pontianak. The data collection technique that will be used is the MMSE questionnaire. The intervention lasted for two weeks by providing nursing actions in the form of brain exercises for 15 minutes a day, after which an evaluation was carried out on the respondents. Data analysis using paired tests. The results showed that there was an effect of brain gymnastics on improving cognitive function in the elderly (p value 0.000). Brain exercises can be done regularly as a form of intervention in improving cognitive function in the elderly.

Abstract

Background: Traditional language development interventions for young children often lack personalization and fail to integrate objective neurological data with engaging therapeutic experiences. This study explored children's lived experiences with qEEG-guided storytelling therapy using the innovative Erodeo platform to understand how real-time neural feedback integration with adaptive narratives influences language development processes in early childhood. Methods: A qualitative phenomenological design was employed with 16 children aged 4-8 years who completed qEEG-guided storytelling sessions over a minimum six-week period. Data were collected through child-friendly interviews, parent interviews, and observational sessions, analyzed using adapted phenomenological methods suitable for pediatric populations. Participants were recruited through purposive sampling from pediatric speech therapy centers and early childhood development clinics. Results: Six major themes emerged from the analysis: (1) embodied language awareness - direct felt experience of speech production; (2) immersive narrative engagement - collaborative storytelling enhancing vocabulary acquisition; (3) real-time articulation consciousness - awareness of speech clarity improvements; (4) vocabulary expansion and semantic understanding - enriched word knowledge and usage; (5) communication confidence and social integration - improved expressive abilities; and (6) playful learning empowerment - active participation in language development. Children demonstrated significant improvements in vocabulary acquisition, articulation clarity, and communication confidence. Conclusions: qEEG-guided storytelling therapy facilitates multidimensional language development through personalized, child-centered interventions that honor both objective neurological processes and subjective developmental experiences. This approach offers significant potential for advancing pediatric language intervention by creating dynamic therapeutic environments that adapt to children's developmental needs and learning styles.

Based on the research conducted at the Kaluku Bodoa Health Center, data showed a total of 201 pulmonary tuberculosis patients. In terms of individual characteristics, there were 44 patients aged 46-55 years, 123 male patients, the majority of whom had a primary education level (97 patients), and most of the patients were working (174 patients). Based on patient type, there were more new patients, totaling 177. All patients had a family DOT supervisor, totaling 201 patients. The treatment category used is category 1 for 197 patients.
