The results showed that most students had a good level of knowledge (58%), but smoking behavior was still quite high (40%). Statistical tests showed a significant relationship between the level of knowledge and smoking behavior (p <0.05). It can be concluded that good knowledge does not always guarantee healthy behavior if it is not supported by other factors such as the environment, peers, and parental supervision. A comprehensive approach is needed through ongoing health education and the involvement of all parties to reduce the number of smokers among adolescents.

This study used a quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample of the study was 100 pregnant women who visited Community Health Center X during the last six months. Data were analyzed using the chi-square test and logistic regression. The results showed that education level (p = 0.003) and attitudes of pregnant women (p = 0.001) had a significant effect on compliance with ANC visits. It can be concluded that the higher the education and positive attitudes of pregnant women, the higher the likelihood of them making ANC visits according to standards. Therefore, interventions in the form of health education and counseling are needed to increase awareness of pregnant women regarding the importance of ANC.

Abstract

Dental caries is a common dental health problem in children, especially in primary school-aged children. One of the risk factors is poor tooth brushing habits, particularly neglecting to brush teeth at night before sleeping. This study aims to describe the night tooth brushing habits and their relationship with the dental caries status in Grade I, II, and III students at a public elementary school in Makassar. This descriptive study involved 90 students selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and clinical dental examination to assess caries status based on the DMF-T index. The results showed that 62% of the children did not regularly brush their teeth at night. Among those who did not brush at night, 78% had moderate to high dental caries. In contrast, only 22% of children who regularly brushed at night experienced similar conditions. The findings suggest a strong association between night brushing habits and caries status. Strengthening oral hygiene education for children and parents is recommended to reduce the prevalence of caries.
