Abstract

There is still a stunting rate in Margaasih Village, so the village community is trying to reduce this rate with ongoing programs. The Posyandu program, one of the village health service programs running every month, seeks to reduce stunting rates. A team of Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia students conducted community service in Margaasih Village to help reduce stunting rates. One of the activities carried out by the service team is assisting ongoing village programs, namely the Posyandu program, counseling, and providing additional food. The team also implemented the program based on the results of surveys and problem identification carried out in Margaasih Village and assisted with PPosyandu activities in Margaasih Village, as well as providing additional food from processed catfish to help reduce stunting rates. The team also held counseling regarding complementary foods for breast milk with participant mothers who still have children aged infants to toddlers. It is hoped that this counseling can provide mothers with an understanding of what food preparations are suitable for babies and help reduce stunting rates.

Abstract

Stunting is a problem of malnutrition caused by providing food that does not meet nutritional needs. It also reflects stunted growth due to poor nutrition and poor health before and after birth. Based on service in Neglasari Village, the main problem was identified: the lack of public understanding about stunting and related information. Even though the stunting rate in Neglasari Village is relatively low, it is essential to create awareness and preventive efforts. Therefore, this service aims to educate the people of Neglasari Village, Salawu District, and Tasikmalaya Regency regarding stunting. The method applied in this service is counseling for one month at every Posyandu in Neglasari Village. The service team provides education in collaboration with village officials and community health centers to conduct outreach related to stunting in Neglasari Village. Based on the results of the service implementation, it can be concluded that there is still a lack of public awareness regarding nutritional aspects, economic factors, exclusive breastfeeding, complementary feeding, and genetic factors of parents in Neglasari Village. It is hoped that implementing this service activity will be an effort to reduce stunting rates in Indonesia.

Abstract

Stunting is a serious global public health challenge and a major concern in Indonesia. Stunting refers to impaired child growth, primarily caused by nutritional deficiencies during early development. Data from the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia indicates that the prevalence of stunting in children in 2023 reached 21,6%, highlighting malnutrition in children as an urgent issue. Various approaches have been undertaken to address this problem, including the Ciherang Stunting Corner, which is the focus in the Ciherang Village, West Java. The method used in this study is quantitative, with a survey approach and data collection. This program emphasizes a community-based and holistic approach to stunting prevention. By involving the community in planning and implementing nutritional interventions, the program can provide solutions tailored to local needs while addressing sanitation and environmental aspects. Initial results show increased community awareness of nutrition and participation in child growth monitoring. Furthermore, the Community Service Learning (KKN) approach has helped to raise awareness about nutrition issues and gather crucial data to support stunting prevention efforts. Integrating the Ciherang Stunting Corner model with a significant reduction in stunting rates is a strategic step in addressing this issue in Indonesia, offering hope for a brighter future for the nation's next generation.

Abstract

This strengthening activity aims to evaluate the implementation of five minimum service program packages at Posyandu, with a focus on pada perbaikan gizi (PMT), buku Kesehatan Ibu dan Anak (KIA), keluarga berencana (KB), immunization, and preventing diarrhea (P2-Diarrhea). in preventing stunting in Cibarengkok Village. The activity results show that not all Posyandu can implement the five minimum service program packages. Improving nutrition through Pemberian Makanan Tambahan (PMT) for recovery and counseling is expected to improve children under five's health and nutritional status. Outreach to Posyandu cadres is a strategic step in reaching the local community. The KIA book is considered an important tool for monitoring pregnant women's and toddlers' health, with outreach efforts involving pregnant women, mothers of toddlers, hospitals, independent practicing midwives, and Posyandu cadres. The Keluarga Berencana (KB) program limits births to create a prosperous family, while immunization is emphasized as preventing infectious diseases through cadre support. In conclusion, efforts to prevent stunting in Cibarengkok Village require close collaboration between the government, health workers, Posyandu cadres, and the community.

Abstract

Reading and writing literacy is the main ability that students must master, because reading and writing can greatly impact the quality of human life. Arahan sub-district, Arahan Kidul village is one of the places where the Indonesian Education University's Thematic Real Work Lecture (KKN-T) program is held for one month. It is known that there is still little attention paid to interest in reading and writing in the Arahan Village, therefore, in KKN-T activities, there is a joint learning work program which is expected to help students to be more active in learning to read and write. In this article, we will discuss the initial stages of activities and the implementation stages of the joint learning program. This article uses a descriptive method with a qualitative approach by collecting data obtained from observations and short interviews with students. The results found from this research were that students' lack of interest in reading and writing was due to a lack of supporting facilities and infrastructure. Meanwhile, students' motivation to learn to read and write is classified as very high. The impact resulting from this KKN-T activity is that human resources are facilitated to help guide students in learning to read and write so that students' enthusiasm is awakened to be more active in learning to read and write independently. Future recommendations hope the village and school can provide innovation and special learning media for elementary school students in Arahan Kidul.

Abstract

Stunting is a problem that causes toddlers to experience growth failure due to insufficient nutrient intake from pregnancy to the age of 24 months. Indonesia has shown a prevalence of stunting over the past decade, with recent efforts aiming to reduce it to 14% by 2024. This community service discusses various factors contributing to stunting and explores the implementation of Supplementary Feeding Programs (PMT) as a preventive measure. The study focuses on Desa Cikondang, where PMT was conducted to prevent stunting and educate the community on proper nutrition for toddlers. Through these community services, including planning, implementation, and evaluation, the study engaged with local stakeholders and observed significant results. The PMT initiative, featuring corn porridge and fruits like papaya and bananas, saw a notable increase in participation, indicating its effectiveness in preventing stunting. Despite coordination and resource allocation challenges, the community services demonstrated the importance of community involvement and targeted interventions in addressing stunting. The findings underscore the significance of early prevention efforts and community empowerment in combating stunting, with implications for similar initiatives across Indonesia.

Abstract

Ecobricks is an innovation that produces a product made from plastic bottles filled with compacted plastic waste, which has not yet been attempted to be created on a large scale. The target of this activity is all PKK women in Adikarso Village. The implementation method carried out by socialization or counseling begins with a survey of the plastic waste problem. There is a need to utilize plastic waste in a product with use value. This training aims to increase residents' understanding of the use of plastic waste in ecobrick products. This activity began with outreach, collecting plastic waste, and preparing tools and materials, followed by training activities with direct practice in making ecobricks. Data collection techniques were carried out using observation and questionnaires. The results of this training include ecobrick products and increasing residents' understanding of the use of plastic waste. First, plastic waste is used to make ecobrick products, namely garden chairs. Second, residents' understanding is related to knowledge about plastic waste and ecobrick products. Based on these results, community empowerment impacts residents' knowledge regarding the use of plastic waste in ecobrick products that have use value and can generate income for the residents of Adikarso Village.

Abstract

Driving safety is a severe challenge experienced by Sukahurip Village. In 2021, 306 accidents were recorded, especially on roads with sharp bends. The Sukahurip Village 2023 UPI KKN Student Team took the initiative through this service program to install convex mirrors on roads with sharp bends. The installation of this convex mirror as a 2023 UPI KKN student service program in Sukhurip Village is an effort to reduce the number of accidents and improve driving safety in Sukahurip Village. Another objective is to evaluate the impact of convex mirrors on improving traffic safety in rural areas. This service method is carried out through a direct approach in the area where the service is carried out by installing convex mirrors with a focus on broadening the driver's view and increasing awareness of road conditions. The results show a reduction in traffic accidents in the area because the convex mirror increases the viewing angle for the driver and allows a quicker response to road situations. This can certainly be a solution and a significant contribution for village communities to reduce the risk of accidents. The mirror installation involved collaboration between UPI 2023 KKN students and Sukahurip Village residents, providing concrete benefits for road safety in the village. It is hoped that one of the programs in this service activity can become the basis for similar programs regarding the importance of simple innovations such as convex mirrors in driving safety in rural areas.

Abstract

One of the challenges and important aspects in supporting the implementation of school management is the availability of a comprehensive and integrated digital database. However, there are still obstacles in development and development directions that still need to be managed optimally. Therefore, it is necessary to manage a digital database that can be accessed by students, teachers and school principals online. The aim is to conduct an initial study of digital database management to support school management. This Community Service was carried out by school principals, teachers and school operators in Limo District, Depok City to improve data-based planning initiated by the Ministry of Education and Culture. Data-based planning training is carried out in two stages, namely coaching discussion, action in the form of training and evaluation. The process is carried out in 5 steps, namely (1) a session starting from the self, (2) a concept exploration session, (3) a comprehension elaboration session, (4) contextual demonstration sessions, and (5) an action plan preparation session. The results of the service show that Data-Based Planning Activities have had a good impact on School Principals, Teachers, and School Operators, and no obstacles were found in their implementation.
