Abstract

The community service activity organized by the Faculty of Economics and Business, Trisakti University, on February 26, 2023, in Fokkalis, aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of the community in managing Food Loss and Waste (FLW) into value-added products and marketing these processed products. The activities involved counseling, practical training, group discussions, and marketing assistance. The results showed an increase in participants' understanding of the concept of FLW and the importance of food waste management, as well as an improvement in skills to process food waste into marketable products such as compost, vegetable chips, and fruit jam. Activity evaluations indicated that hands-on training methods and marketing assistance were highly effective in enhancing participants' abilities. Furthermore, participants successfully developed several business plans based on FLW processing that have economic potential. The challenges faced included limited training time and inadequate facilities, which were addressed through adaptive and participatory approaches. To support the sustainability of the activity’s impact, ongoing training programs, increased collaboration with local stakeholders, and the use of digital technology to expand training and marketing access are needed. Thus, this activity successfully contributed positively to community empowerment and sustainable FLW management.

Abstract

This community service program aimed to enhance financial literacy and improve MSME owners’ skills in preparing and analyzing financial statements as a basis for business decision-making. The activities involved structured training and technical assistance for 40 MSME participants from Bekasi and Jakarta. The training materials included basic financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow) and simple financial ratio analysis. Evaluation was conducted using pre-tests, post-tests, and observation of practice sessions. The results indicated that 80% of participants were able to independently prepare financial statements, while 85% reported improved understanding of cash flow management and cost control. Some MSMEs also applied the Material Flow Cost Accounting (MFCA) approach to identify production efficiency, reducing raw material waste by up to 10%. This program demonstrates that practice-based financial literacy training can strengthen transparency, increase financial institutions’ trust, and support the sustainability of MSMEs.

Abstract

This Community Service program aimed to enhance the competencies of vocational school teachers in West Jakarta in accounting, particularly in the management of petty cash. The initiative was motivated by the limited understanding among teachers regarding petty cash recording and reporting, which is a crucial component of the accounting cycle. A total of 30 uncertified vocational school teachers participated in this intensive training, designed to be both comprehensive and interactive. The implementation method consisted of three stages: preparation, execution, and evaluation. Training materials covered basic concepts of petty cash, recording procedures, case examples, and practical exercises guided by expert instructors. Evaluation was carried out using pre-tests and post-tests to measure the participants’ improvement. The results showed a significant increase in participants’ understanding, as indicated by higher average post-test scores compared to pre-test scores. These findings confirm that the training effectively enhanced teachers’ vocational accounting competencies. The program highlights the importance of continuing similar training with broader coverage and sustainability to strengthen vocational education quality in Indonesia.

Abstract

Micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) play a crucial role in Indonesia’s economy as they absorb a large workforce and contribute significantly to national GDP. However, one of the main challenges faced by MSMEs, including Rufata MSME in Pancoran, South Jakarta, is ineffective working capital management. Poor management often results in excessive inventory, uncollectible receivables, or the use of funds for non-productive purposes, which in turn reduces business efficiency. To address this issue, the Faculty of Economics and Business, Trisakti University, conducted a Community Service program in the form of a working capital management training for Rufata MSME entrepreneurs. The program consisted of need assessment, preparation of training modules, face-to-face workshops, simulation of working capital calculation, and mentoring on effective working capital management strategies. A total of 20 participants actively involved in Rufata MSME joined the program. Evaluation was carried out using pre-test and post-test questionnaires to assess participants’ understanding of working capital concepts, calculation methods, benefits of efficiency, and alternative sources of financing. The results indicated a significant improvement in participants’ knowledge, as reflected in higher post-test scores and positive feedback on training relevance. This program demonstrates that practice-based training helps MSME entrepreneurs better understand and implement effective working capital management. Future initiatives should expand to other MSME groups to strengthen overall microenterprise performance in Indonesia.

Abstract

Public speaking is a fundamental skill essential for individuals, especially those who frequently interact with the public. The Waste Bank Community in Tambun Selatan, Bekasi, as the partner of this program, still faces challenges in delivering messages clearly, confidently, and persuasively during socialization and community presentations. To address these needs, the Faculty of Economics and Business, Trisakti University, organized a Community Service program focusing on training the basics of effective public speaking for Waste Bank members. The training methods included counseling, interactive discussions, presentation simulations, and role-play exercises based on real cases encountered by the community. Thirty members participated in the program, selected through recommendations from the Waste Bank administrators. Evaluation was conducted through pre-test and post-test to measure improvements in speaking techniques, audience engagement, body language, and self-confidence. The results showed significant improvement in participants’ public speaking skills, with average scores increasing from 50% in the pre-test to 83% in the post-test. Participants also demonstrated greater confidence in speaking publicly, better structured presentations, and improved vocal and body language techniques. This program proves that practice-based training effectively enhances community members’ public speaking skills. Future training initiatives are expected to be sustained to further strengthen communication capacity in conveying environmental messages to the broader community.
