Abstract

Brucellosis is one of the strategic infectious animal diseases in Indonesia. Malaka regency is one of the regencies in East Nusa Tenggara with a prevalence of Brucellosis >2%. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of incidence, risk factors and coverage of Brucellosis vaccination in Naibone. The research method used is a questionnaire and interview. The frequency of Brucellosis incidence based on clinical symptoms in Naibone is 9,4%. The clinical symptoms of brucellosis found in this study were abortion as much as 13,3% with the percentage who experienced abortions in late pregnancy was 9,4%. Factors that support the incidence rate of Brucellosis in the study are maintenance management is semi intensive, management of aborted cows and fetuses with poor abortion product. Aborted cows were not separated from the herd and 76% of aborted fetuses were left, 12% was buried, 12% was given to dogs. The level of education of farmers in Naibone Village is still low and vaccination is not yet effective. Vaccination coverage in Naibone is still not effective at 20%.

Abstract

Crossbreed cattle is the result of crosses between different breeds of cattle with the aim of increasing the genetic quality of local cattle. The advantages of crossbreed cattle include good production performance, high selling price and greater body weight compared to local cattle. The purpose of this study was to determine the reproductive performance of crossbreed cows (bos javanicus x bos taurus) in the district of East Kupang covering estrus cycle, days open, service per conception, conception rate, pregnancy rate, calving rate, and calving interval. The number of cows used in this study were 75 crossbreed cows (bos javanicus X bos taurus) from smallholder farms aged 4-7 years. The method used is observational through interviews with farmers and rectal examination to determine the reproductive status of livestock. The analysis used is descriptive analysis. The results obtained showed that the average estrus cycle was 28.6 days, days open 151 days, service per conception was 3.9, conception rate was 58.6%, pregnancy rate was 65.45%, calving rate was 34.6%, and calving intervals of 14.29 months. The results of this study illustrate that there has been a decline in the reproductive performance of crossbreed cattle (bos javanicus X bos taurus) in the Kupang Timur sub-district, Kupang district, so it is necessary to improve reproductive management.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of adding Black Soldier Fly (BSF) maggot flour at several levels (dose) in complete feed on feed consumption, ration conversion, growth (body weight gain) and red blood cell profile in broiler chickens. The research material used 100 chickens. This study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments where each treatment was filled with 25 animals/treatment. Parameters observed were ration consumption, body weight gain, feed conversion and broiler blood cell profile. The data obtained will be presented in the form of a table and described descriptively. The results showed that the addition of Black Soldier Fly (BSF) maggot flour had an effect on body weight gain but did not show a significant difference between the treatment groups. The addition of BSF maggot flour did not affect the red blood cell profile where the total erythrocyte, hemoglobin, hematocrit and erythrocyte index showed normal values. The conclusion in this study was that the addition of maggot flour to commercial rations affected the degree of feed palatability, thus affecting the level of consumption and erythrocyte profile at the beginning of rearing and the addition of protein in the finisher phase had no effect on feed efficiency.

Abstract

Coccidiosis is a gastrointestinal parasitic disease caused by the protozoan Eimeria spp. The infective form of Eimeria is the oocyst that can be found in almost all tropical environmental conditions and the possibility of disease as an opener to other agents. The percentage of coccidiosis incidence in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) is increasing from year to year, this is due to many factors that play a role in the spread of coccidiosis in livestock. One of them is the level of resistance of Eimeria oocysts, which can last a long time, so that they remain vigilant and more attention needs to be paid to prevent the spread. The purpose of compiling this literature study is to determine the risk factors associated with the incidence of coccidiosis in ruminants and control of coccidiosis in ruminants in dry land of East Nusa Tenggara. This literature study was obtained from searching and collecting from various reference sources using Google Scholar with the help of the Mendeley application. There are 53 literatures obtained and after being analyzed and known risk factors related to the incidence of coccidiosis are maintenance management, season (temperature and humidity), environmental conditions, age of livestock, and sex. Coccidiosis control in ruminants can be done with coccidiostat therapy and herbal ingredients as well as improving management this case regular sanitation and cleanliness of cages, stables for adults and young livestock, rotation of pastures, containers or feed containers on a regular basis and endeavored to avoid contamination by feces.

Abstract

Milk contains carbohydrates (lactose), protein, fat, vitamins and minerals. Horse milk has a whey protein composition such as lactoferrin, lysozyme, beta-lactoglobulin, alpha-lactoalbumin, immunoglobulin (Ig) and Bovine Serum Albumin. This literature study was conducted to describe the mechanism of the ability of antiviral compounds that contained in horse milk protein against viruses fromb the genus Flavivirus, the mechanism of ability of antiviral compounds contained in horse milk proteins against viruses from the genus Betacoronavirus. The preparation of this literature study was carried out from August to October 2021 which included searching references or libraries that were closely related to the title of Google Scholar using the Mendeley application, resumes and writing literature studies related to the workings of the antiviral compounds present in milk protein. horse which can be a therapeutic agent for viral disease in animals of the genus Flavivirus. Based on the literature review of the antiviral compounds from horse milk protein studied, it can be concluded that lactoferrin inhibits Japanese encephalitis virus infection in host cells mediated by lobes and lobes. Lactoferrin inhibits the attachment of SARS-CoV-2 to the host cell membrane involving the interaction of Heparan sulfate proteoglycans (HSPGs) on the surface of the host cell membrane. An envelope (E) protein found on the surface of the dengue virus hermorrhagic fever (DBD) that involved in virus transfer in host cells then infecting host cells and can be hindered by the ability of lactoferrin to interfere with the virus ability to infect host cells by attach the the Heparan sulfate proteoglycans (HSPGs).
