Abstract

ABSTRACT Background: Zinc and chromium are heavy metals that can contaminate community-dug well water that is used by people around landfills, and can cause public health problems. This study aimed to analyze the risk level of zinc (Zn) and chromium (Cr) content in the dug well water of the community around Sukawinatan landfill site. Methods: This research was an observational study using a cross-sectional design with an environmental health risk analysis approach, It was conducted in February–May 2021. The sample was water from the dug wells of the community that lives around the Sukawinatan landfill. The examination of zinc and chromium level in dug well water was used the Inductively Coupled Plasma-Optical Emission Spectrometry (ICP-OES) method. Results: Zinc and chromium level in community dug well water was found to range from 0.03 mg/l to 0.09 mg/l for zinc concentration and from 0.0030 mg/l to 0.04 mg/l for chromium concentration, respectively. The results of calculating the potential dose (intake) for the two metals are still below the dose reference value, and for calculating the level of risk, the result is less than 1, which can be interpreted as not being risky.  Conclusion: Zinc and chromium level in the community's dug-well water around the landfill site was still below the quality standard. The potential dose (intake) and Risk Quotient were safe for the next few years.

Abstract

ABSTRACTBackground: Dengue hemorrhagic fever is a disease that is transmitted to humans through the bite of infected mosquitoes, especially the Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes, which are found in almost all corners of Indonesia. Method: The research design used is a cross-sectional research design. The population in this study is people aged 15–44 years and 55 years in Gunung Mas village, totaling 1,591 people. The sample size in this study was 91 respondents. Results: Based on the analysis results, the Chi Square test results obtained a p value of 0.0005, meaning that there is a significant relationship between knowledge and the incidence of dengue hemorrhagic fever. The results of the Chi Square test showed a p value of 0.0005, meaning that there was a significant relationship between attitude and the incidence of dengue hemorrhagic fever. The results of the Chi Square test showed a p value of 0.0005, meaning that there was a significant relationship between the habit of littering and the incidence of dengue hemorrhagic fever. The Chi Square test results obtained a p value of 0.0005, meaning that there is a significant relationship between SPAL facilities and the incidence of dengue hemorrhagic fever. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between knowledge, attitudes, habits of littering, and waste water disposal channels and the incidence of dengue hemorrhagic fever.

Abstract

Background: Hypertension is a degenerative disease that is a severe problem in the world. Hypertension is categorized as a silent killer disease because sufferers do not know they have hypertension. According to the World Health Organization (2021), 42% of sufferers are unaware of having hypertension because it often occurs without complaints. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine whether there is a relationship between age, gender, family history, smoking habits, and obesity with the incidence of hypertension. Methods: The type of research conducted was quantitative with a cross-sectional approach. The sample size obtained from the results of the study was 58 samples. The research took place in April - July 2023. The instruments used in this study were questionnaires and digital tensimeters to measure blood pressure. The data results are presented in the form of univariate and bivariate analysis using the chi-square test. Results: The results showed that age (p=0.047), gender (p=0.015), family history (p=0.007), and obesity (p=0.019) showed a significant relationship with the incidence of hypertension. However, smoking habit (p=0.634) did not establish a significant relationship. Conclusion: age, gender, family history, and obesity showed a significant relationship with the incidence of hypertension, and smoking habit did not establish a significant relationship with the incidence of hypertension.
