Abstract

This study is motivated by the low skill of writing student poetry which is influenced by several factors. This study aims to influence the use of chain writing method on the poetry writing skills of X grade students of SMA N 4 Binjai. The method used in this research is experimental method with two group posttest only design. The population in this study were all X grade students of SMA Negeri 4 Binjai totaling 110 people and the samples in this study were X IPA 3 students as the experimental class with 35 students and X IPA 2 as the control class with 36 students. The data analysis technique used in this study is quantitative data by testing the requirements of analysis, homogeneity test, homegenity test and hypothesis testing. The results of the study in the experimental class obtained an average value of 79.57 in the good category, while the results of the study in the control class at an average value of 47.91 were in the very poor category. Based on the similarity test of the average value, it is known that the experimental class is greater in value than the control class with a difference of 31.66%. Based on the results of the t test that has been carried out, the value obtained at a significant level a = 0.05 is obtained the value of the t table provision of 2.03 and the tcount = 13.58. Therefore, tcount ˃ ttable is 13.58 > 2.03, so ho (null hypothesis) is rejected and ha (alternative hypothesis) is accepted. Overall, it can be concluded that teaching using the chain writing method has a positive effect on the results of students' poetry writing skills in class X SMA Negeri 4 Binjai.

Abstract

marriage is the process of binding sacred promises between men and women. Marriage is a sacred event through which several steps pass. The steps in the wedding are referred to as the wedding procession. Human feelings can be represented through verses of poetry, stories in novels, lyrics in songs, and conversations in films. Literary works are able to express all human problems and feelings. The type of research used is qualitative descriptive research using the method of Comparative Literature. The data source used is a collection of poems by W.S Rendra includes poems 'invitation’,' Song Of The Angels’, and 'Kakawin Kawin' in the book four collections of poems. These three works were chosen because they have a connection to the wedding procession. Research techniques used are data collection, data analysis, and data inference. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that there is a wedding procession represented through the poem ’invitation’,’Song Of The Angels’, and ’Kakawin Kawin’. In the poem 'invitation ’and’ Song Of The Angels', both set in a church, and are going through the process of marriage. Meanwhile, the poem 'Kakawin Kawin' is set in the House of the late bride. The difference lies in different situations but each poem represents the wedding procession differently.

Abstract

In terms of racial, ethnic and cultural diversity, Indonesia is a treasure. Language is another manifestation of this diversity. There are unique languages in almost every region in Indonesia. On the other hand, a group's culture will be easier to maintain if there is open dialogue between generations. When people from different cultural backgrounds engage in communicative activities, this is called cross-cultural communication. Basically, each person has a unique cultural identity, which shapes their views and way of thinking about the world. The more different two people's cultures are, the more difficult it is for them to communicate with each other.

Abstract

The use of language is essential to human survival in all aspects of daily life. Language allows us to share our thoughts, feelings, desires, opinions, and information, among other things. Adolescents' proficiency in using proper Indonesian has started to decrease. One of the reasons Indonesian proficiency is declining among adolescents is the influence of slang. When people use Indonesian in formal settings, slang can get in the way, leading to bad grammar and spelling. Using both primary and secondary sources, this study embraces qualitative research methods and journal articles. Methods such as recording, observation, and interviews were employed to gather data. All things considered, these results point to environmental, developmental, and technological factors as the primary causes of the widespread use of slang among adolescents.

Abstract

This research aims to (1) Analyze the poetry writing ability of class X students at SMA Negeri 4 Binjai before using the blended learning model assisted by Quipper School; (2) Analyzing the poetry writing ability of class X SMA Negeri 4 Binjai students after using the blended learning model assisted by Quipper School; (3) Analyze the influence of the blended learning model assisted by Quipper School on the ability to write poetry in class X SMA Negeri 4 Binjai. The method used in this research is an experimental method with a one group pre-test post-test design research design. The population in this research is all students of class X SMA Negeri 4 Binjai, totaling 110 people and the sample in this research is students of class The data analysis technique used in this research is quantitative data by testing analysis requirements, homogeneity testing, homogeneity testing and hypothesis testing. The research results showed that the average score for students' poetry writing ability before using the blended learning model assisted by Quipper School was 57.77. The average score obtained by students after using the blended learning model assisted by Quipper School was 82.77% and was classified as good. Based on the results of the t test that was carried out, a value was obtained at a significant level of a = 0.05, the value of the t table provisions was 2.46 and the result of t = 13.06. So tcount ˃ ttable is 13.06 > 2.46, so ho (null hypothesis) is rejected and ha (alternative hypothesis) is accepted. Overall, it can be concluded that teaching using the blended learning model assisted by Quipper School has a positive effect on the results of the poetry writing ability of class X SMA Negeri 4 Binjai students.

Abstract

Literary works are expressions of human thoughts and feelings expressed in writing with the power of language. Drama, as a literary genre, depicts life through staged dialogue. This research aims to analyze the drama script "La Tagdhob" by Azis W. Adhirawa using a structural approach to understand its intrinsic elements. The structuralism approach, pioneered by R. Jacobson and Ferdinand de Saussure, examines the relationships between elements in literary works to understand their meaning as a whole. Although effective in in-depth analysis, this approach ignores external context such as the author's social and cultural background. This research uses descriptive research to show that the structuralism approach is effective in identifying elements such as theme, plot, characters, setting and message, as well as emphasizing the importance of the unity of intrinsic elements. Previous research supports this approach as a systematic method in the analysis of literary works.

Abstract

This research aims to explore digital literacy learning strategies aimed at the general public, with a focus on responsible use of technology, as well as overcoming social inequalities that occur in society. Apart from that, digital literacy learning also has a role in supporting the quality of people's understanding of digital media in the era of industrial revolution 4.0 which is marked by advances in the fields of knowledge and technology which will also have an impact on the world of work. This research uses a literature review method to collect and analyze various relevant sources, including journals, books and scientific articles related to digital literacy and implementation strategies in society. It is hoped that the results of this review will provide insight into effective strategies in educating the public about digital literacy, as well as emphasizing the importance of awareness in the use of technology. Thus, this research contributes to providing a strong theoretical basis for the development of comprehensive and responsible digital literacy education programs.

Abstract

English is often considered a "Bahasa Kafir" or infidel language and is associated with Western values conflicted with certain religious beliefs. This literature research explores the origins of this stigma and why English is perceived as such. This article aims to break the stigma associated with English by analyzing cultural, historical, and religious contexts. Through a literature review, researchers highlight the importance of understanding that language is a universal communication tool not tied to a particular religion or culture. In contrast, English has values that transcend cultural and religious boundaries. Although such stigma can hinder access to educational and professional opportunities, a deeper understanding of English can broaden our view of the world, open the door to cross-cultural collaboration, and promote a deeper understanding of human diversity. Therefore, examining why English is considered a “Bahasa kafir” can provide valuable insight into how cultural biases and prejudices can influence how people think and interact.

Abstract

The use of technology in learning has become a major focus in improving the effectiveness of the educational process. One promising tool is Scratch, a visual programming environment specifically designed for education. In the context of fantasy story learning, Scratch offers great potential to enhance students' creativity and engagement. This article provides an overview of Scratch-based learning media development for fantasy story materials. Through a literature review and analysis of related literature, the article identifies the advantages of using Scratch in fantasy story learning, such as increasing student engagement, developing problem-solving skills, and improving understanding of story concepts. In addition, it discusses the practical steps in developing Scratch learning media, including story concept selection, interactive design, and evaluation of learning outcomes. Thus, this study provides useful guidance for educators in developing interesting and effective learning media for fantasy story materials using Scratch.

Abstract

The purposes of this research is to determine the importance of character education in the moral formation of elementary school children. This research is a type of qualitative research using library research methods, namely by collecting information through various sources such as journals, books and previous research. The results of this research are that character education has a very important role in shaping the morals of elementary school children.
