Abstract

Gold thread embroidery, or kasab, is a traditional craft in Aceh, Indonesia. It refers to the art of hand embroidery using gold threads to adorn fabric with various intricate motifs. Pashmina is a type of long scarf worn primarily by women at formal events. This study aims to design an Acehnese motif on pashmina through the application of gold thread embroidery, apply the Acehnese motifs on pashmina using gold thread embroidery, and assess consumer acceptance of pashmina products with Acehnese motifs and gold thread embroidery applications. The data collection methods used in this research include applied experiments, documentation, literature reviews, and surveys. The data obtained from the experiments were analysed descriptively, while the survey data were processed using quantitative methods. The results of the study indicate that pashmina model 1 features the Bungong Campli (chili flower) motif on a maroon-coloured pashmina, while model 2 features the Bungong Sagoe (corner flower) motif on a black pashmina. Survey responses revealed that most respondents favored the motif design of Pashmina model 1, which conveyed a sense of authenticity. Regarding embroidery technique, model 1 was considered neater and more elegant. Respondents also noted that the placement of sequins on the black pashmina (model 2) added a luxurious effect, contributing to the creation of a new fashion trend. Furthermore, respondents felt that the placement of tassels on model 2 complemented the motif and overall design. In terms of color coordination, the gold thread on both the maroon and black pashmina fabrics was considered to enhance the aesthetic appeal, adding an elegant, luxurious, and distinct Acehnese touch. Lastly, respondents agreed that model 1 would be highly suitable for formal occasions, with the gold thread embroidery giving it an elegant and luxurious appearance, positioning it as an innovative development in the fashion industry.

Abstract

The escalating demand for tin has catalyzed extensive mining activities in Central Bangka, particularly among inconventional miners. This study investigates the socio-economic implications of inconventional tin mining on land ownership, social conflicts, and post-mining land reclamation. Employing qualitative research methodologies, including in-depth interviews and field observations, the research elucidates the challenges local communities face, notably land disputes and environmental degradation. The findings reveal that inconventional mining practices frequently incite conflicts between residents and mining enterprises, exacerbating social tensions. Additionally, the absence of effective land reclamation policies has led to significant environmental repercussions, adversely impacting the livelihoods of local populations. This paper underscores the necessity for sustainable resource management policies that account for the socio-economic dynamics inherent in informal mining. Recommendations for enhancing land governance and fostering community engagement in post-mining reclamation initiatives are presented, aiming to promote a more equitable and sustainable framework for tin mining in Central Bangka.

Abstract

Public service plays a crucial role in improving community welfare and addressing public health challenges, including stunting, particularly in developing regions such as East Lombok, Indonesia. This study aims to explore the contribution of public services in enhancing social well-being and reducing stunting rates through qualitative methods, specifically literature review and library research. By analyzing existing studies, government policies, and empirical reports, this research identifies key public service initiatives, including healthcare programs, nutritional support, education, and sanitation improvements, that directly impact community welfare and child growth. The findings indicate that effective public services, supported by strong governmental commitment and community participation, significantly contribute to reducing stunting prevalence. Furthermore, access to quality healthcare, maternal education, and social protection programs are essential in fostering sustainable development and improving overall public health. The study also highlights challenges such as inadequate infrastructure, limited funding, and bureaucratic inefficiencies that hinder optimal service delivery. Therefore, enhancing governance, increasing public awareness, and strengthening policy implementation are crucial to ensuring long-term success in stunting prevention and community welfare improvement. This research contributes to the existing literature by emphasizing the importance of integrated public services in achieving health and development goals.
