Abstract

The Integrated Student Service Program of the University of Bangka Belitung (PMTU) with the theme “Building Digital Financial Awareness: Financial Literacy Education to Prevent Online Gambling among Rural Youth” in Terak Village was implemented as an effort to build awareness and resilience among adolescents against the dangers of online gambling through the enhancement of financial and digital literacy. This program responds to the low understanding of rural communities regarding financial management, digital transaction risks, and the social impacts of online gambling. Through educational approaches and direct socialization, the activity successfully improved participants’ understanding of basic financial planning, distinguishing needs and wants, managing online loan risks, and recognizing the legal consequences of digital gambling. The program’s tangible impacts are reflected in three main aspects: the increase in knowledge and ability to map personal budgets, the development of positive attitudes and commitment to reject gambling invitations, and the establishment of an Anti-Gambling Community as a platform for program sustainability. This educational intervention serves as a strategic step to strengthen digital financial awareness among rural youth while supporting the development of a productive and responsible young generation in the digital era.

Abstract

English speaking proficiency is a crucial component of global literacy development, including for children with special needs. However, the lack of adaptive learning tools remains a significant challenge in special education environments such as SLBN Pangkalpinang. This community engagement project aimed to implement an English Speaking learning application specifically designed to enhance English language literacy among students with special needs. The activity involved 20 students with special needs and 5 accompanying teachers. The implementation methods included teacher training, application demonstrations, student mentoring, and qualitative evaluations through direct observation and interviews. In addition, a pre-test and post-test design was used to quantitatively assess students’ speaking abilities. The results showed a 42% increase in active student participation and an improvement in the average speaking score from 53.6 to 74.1 after application use, with statistical significance at p < 0.05. Teachers reported that the application facilitated more engaging and effective delivery of English materials and increased student motivation. These findings demonstrate that adaptive technology-based approaches can effectively strengthen foreign language literacy among students with special needs. The community engagement activity highlights the value of responsive and inclusive educational innovations and supports the broader implementation of similar tools across other special education institutions. This initiative emphasizes the importance of equal access to quality education and contributes to inclusive education policy development. This activity demonstrates that Canva can serve as an effective platform for developing inclusive educational content. The implementation of this technology not only addressed learning gaps but also empowered educators with practical digital teaching strategies for special needs education.

Abstract

The National Science Olympiad (OSN) in Economics is a platform for developing academic competence that demands critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills. However, some students still struggle to grasp the nature of the subject matter and the specific types of questions featured in the competition. This community service initiative aims to enhance the academic competence and preparedness of students from SMA Negeri 1 Ternate City for the Economics OSN using a Participatory Training and Mentoring (PTM) approach. The program was conducted over three months across 12 sessions, comprising conceptual reinforcement, discussions, case study analyses, practice questions based on Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS), competition simulations, and evaluations. The results indicate improvements in the participants' understanding of the material, analytical problem-solving abilities, active learning engagement, and self-confidence. The PTM approach fostered active student involvement through collaborative and problem-solving-based learning. Consequently, the program effectively enhanced the participants' readiness for the Economics OSN and holds potential as a mentoring model applicable to other schools.
