Abstract

Household waste management remains a critical environmental issue in Indonesia, particularly due to low public awareness of waste segregation practices. This community service program aimed to enhance the knowledge, awareness, and skills of residents in Naluk Village, Sumedang Regency, regarding waste separation and organic waste processing into compost using the OCTACO method. A qualitative and participatory approach was employed through observation, interviews, educational sessions, and hands-on composting demonstrations. The program was conducted over one month and involved local authorities, waste bank communities, and residents. The results indicate a significant improvement in participants’ understanding of waste classification and environmentally friendly waste management practices. The OCTACO composting method proved to be practical, odor-minimizing, and faster than conventional composting techniques. Overall, the program contributed to reducing household waste volume, strengthening environmental awareness, and promoting sustainable community-based waste management by transforming organic waste into valuable compost.

Abstract

Improving financial literacy from an early age and strengthening the local economy based on sharia values are strategic steps in building an independent and competitive society. The community service program in Pasar Rawa Village was carried out through three main activities, namely the Sharia Capital Market Investment and Financial Literacy Seminar with speakers from the Indonesia Stock Exchange and Maybank Sekuritas, education on understanding the rupiah and saving practices for elementary school students, and observation visits to bamboo craftsmen MSMEs. The seminar aimed to increase public understanding of halal investment and financial management in accordance with sharia principles. The education program in elementary schools focused on forming positive financial habits from an early age. Meanwhile, the SME visits were conducted to understand business conditions, introduce simple financial record-keeping, and introduce alternative sharia financing. The results of the activities showed an increase in knowledge, changes in financial attitudes, and growing interest among the community and SMEs in applying sharia financial principles.

Abstract

Batik production has strategic potential to support rural economic development and cultural sustainability; however, many village-owned enterprises (BUMDes) face persistent challenges related to production efficiency, managerial capacity, and institutional sustainability. This community service aimed to strengthen batik production performance and organizational capacity of BUMDes Suwaluh in Balongbendo Village, Sidoarjo, through an integrated socialization and training program. The service employed a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, emphasizing collective problem diagnosis, participatory training, action, reflection, and evaluation. Data were generated through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and production records, and were analyzed using descriptive, comparative, and correlational techniques to assess changes in technical, economic, and organizational indicators. The results demonstrate that the PAR-based intervention improved production quality consistency, enhanced cost awareness and basic financial management skills, and fostered stronger collective coordination within the batik unit. Importantly, the findings indicate that these outcomes emerged not merely from skill transfer, but from participatory learning processes that enabled artisans to internalize standards and jointly manage production decisions. In conclusion, this community service confirms that participatory approaches are critical for translating cultural-based training into sustainable economic and institutional gains. Scientifically, the program contributes an evidence-based model of PAR-driven community empowerment, addressing gaps in prior batik-focused community service studies that lacked analytical evaluation of impact pathways.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to implement a web-based ordering information system at CV Seleksi Alam Muria to address problems related to manual ordering and data management. Manual ordering processes resulted in unstructured transaction records, difficulties in sales recapitulation, and delays in customer service. The implementation methods included partner needs analysis through observation and interviews, system design using use case diagrams, development of a web-based ordering information system, as well as system testing and user assistance. The results show that the implemented system successfully integrates ordering processes, product management, payment validation, and sales reporting into a centralized system. The system improves operational efficiency, accelerates service processes, and increases data recording accuracy. In addition, the system serves as a digital promotion medium that expands the partner’s market reach. Therefore, the implementation of a web-based ordering information system can support MSME digital transformation and enhance service quality and business competitiveness.
