Abstract

Nutmeg is Indonesia's mainstay export commodity which brings in foreign exchange for this country. However, Indonesia's nutmeg productivity is still low and below the world average. For this reason, efforts are needed to improve the quality of Indonesian nutmeg, one of which is by increasing nutmeg farmers' knowledge about Good Handling Practices for nutmeg plants. This service activity aims to increase the knowledge, abilities and skills of nutmeg farmers in Lilibooi Village, West Leihitu District, Central Maluku Regency in handling harvest, post-harvest and nutmeg processing. This community service activity was attended by 15 nutmeg farmers. The methods used are counseling and evaluation. The material provided is related to how to harvest nutmeg, post-harvest handling of nutmeg seeds and mace, as well as packaging and storage of nutmeg seeds and mace. The evaluation results show that from this activity, nutmeg farmers gained additional knowledge and new technology related to the implementation of GHP for nutmeg crops.

Abstract

Indonesia's territorial waters have an abundant and unique diversity of ornamental fish species, namely 240 types of marine ornamental fish and 226 types of freshwater ornamental fish. Negeri Latuhalat is one of the fishing villages in Ambon City where the majority of the people's livelihood comes from sea catches, namely 57% of fishing activities, which are greatly influenced by the fishing season, weather, and fuel availability which are the problems and obstacles faced by fishing fishermen. Introducing the potential and development of ornamental fish cultivation to the community is considered to be a solution for the people of Latuhalat. The activity of community service was held on Friday, July 28 2023 at 09.00 – finish at the assembly hall of Latuhalat The activity stages include preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The material was presented in 20 minutes with the topics discussed, namely the community's mindset regarding the potential of ornamental fish, freshwater and seawater ornamental fish commodities, cultivation sistems and advantages, and business opportunities for ornamental fish cultivation. Evaluation was carried out at the end of the activity by answering post-test questions and discussions according to the topic given. The conclusion from this PKM activity is that the community has increased knowledge about the potential, opportunities, and sistems for cultivating ornamental fish as well as the correct way to cultivate fish.

Abstract

Article 4 of Law No. 33 of 2014 states that every product that enters, circulates, and is traded in Indonesia must be certified halal. The obligation for halal certification for products entering, circulating, and being traded in the Indonesian territory will be enforced starting October 17, 2024. Diversification of native chicken products into various products is highly feasible to increase product variants, thereby enhancing their marketability and bringing financial benefits to farmers. The community service activities carried out aim to (1) motivate native chicken farmers to diversify their products, (2) optimize the productivity of native chicken farmers, and (3) socialize and assist in the application for halal certification of food products. The methods used are counseling and Q&A sessions. The results of these activities showed a high level of community enthusiasm, as evidenced by the punctual attendance of community members, with an attendance rate reaching 90%, and their participation in providing tools and materials to support the activities. Based on the evaluation results, it was found that 89% of the participants understood how to process chicken meat into meatballs, shredded chicken, and floss, and 97% of the participants liked the results.

Abstract

The environment is something that is closely related to human life, which means that humans naturally interact with the environment. A clean and comfortable environment can also be achieved through environmental planning activities. problems in managing environmental cleanliness, and arranging nameplates for village officials as well as other problems related to the environment that must be resolved. This activity aims to organize the village by making nameplates for village officials and overcoming environmental cleanliness management problems. Activities carried out include cleaning the village environment, making rubbish bins, making and arranging village nameplates. The results of the activity evaluation show that all activities run well in accordance with the planned targets.

Abstract

The aim of implementing outreach in Aru Irian Village is to increase community knowledge about maintaining environmental cleanliness and knowing the causes, behavior of dengue mosquitoes and how to prevent dengue fever. The activity was carried out in Aru Irian Village, South West Morotai Sub-district, with the implementation stages of the activity divided into 3 stages, namely preparation, counseling and evaluation. The evaluation results show that there has been an increase as indicated by an increase in knowledge about dengue fever by 64%, public knowledge about the Aedes Aegepti mosquito has increased by 64%, knowledge of mosquito breeding places has increased by 28% and knowledge of dengue prevention has increased by 76%.

Abstract

This service activity aims to provide practical skills and knowledge to the community about recognizing the types of pests and diseases of banana plants. The target of implementing this activity is the community of Morekau Village, West Seram District, West Seram Regency. Community participation in this activity was very good. This is related to the problems faced in banana planting, namely the main pests and diseases of banana plants which cause losses, both in quantity and quality. There was a positive response from the extension participants to continue effective and efficient control techniques, in order to minimize control costs and increase farmers' knowledge in the banana cultivation business. Therefore, farmers really need information regarding the main types of pests and diseases of banana plants and their control techniques

Abstract

The potential for coconuts in Mamala Village, Leihitu District, Central Maluku Regency is quite abundant. However, coconut water, which is part of the coconut fruit, is rarely used and even thrown away, even though old coconut water still contains nutrients that are beneficial for the human body. The aim of this service activity is to increase the knowledge and skills of the people of Mamala Village, Leihitu District, Central Maluku Regency regarding the nutritional content of mature coconut water and how to make coconut water syrup. This community service activity was attended by 25 housewives and young women. This activity stage begins with surveys, counseling, training and evaluation. The outreach activities carried out were able to increase public knowledge about the nutritional content of mature coconut water and how to make coconut water syrup. The training activity aims to improve community skills regarding making coconut water syrup. The evaluation results show that there has been an increase in public knowledge about the material provided.

Abstract

Community service activities in Barangka Village, Kapontori District, Buton Regency aim to improve the skills of farmer groups in processing purple sweet potatoes into value-added food products, namely jam and ice cream. The training, which was attended by 25 participants, was carried out to provide knowledge about the nutritional benefits of purple sweet potatoes, as well as skills in making processed products with economic value. During the activity, participants were taught the process of making purple sweet potato jam and ice cream, from processing raw materials to marketing techniques. The evaluation results showed that 98% of participants succeeded in processing purple sweet potatoes into cendol, and 96% of participants succeeded in making ice cream from the same ingredients. As many as 100% of participants said they liked both products, which shows a high level of satisfaction with this training. This training not only improves the participants' technical skills, but also encourages an entrepreneurial mind-set among farmers, so that they are able to create innovative products that can be produced

Abstract

The good mangrove management for coastal communities in Ambon City, especially in Teluk Ambon Dalam (TAD) has many benefits. However, coastal communities which is living in mangrove ecosystem areas do not yet have much knowledge about the importance of mangroves and the benefits of the mangrove ecosystem. Therefore, the development of the Mitra/Innovation Village was carried out as an effort to contribute to the application of marine and fisheries science to build coastal villages in improving community welfare. The purpose of this Community Service (PKM) activity is to increase the knowledge and awareness of the Waiheru Village community about the importance of maintaining and preserving the mangrove ecosystem in a sustainable manner by maintaining environmental cleanliness in the context of developing ecotourism.The material presented in this socialization activity was about the function and benefits of the mangrove ecosystem in the development of Mangrove Ecotourism in Waiheru Village, Ambon City. After that, the Community Service (PKM) activity was continued by conducting a cleaning action around the mangrove ecosystem by cadets together with the village community. To determine the effectiveness of the Community Service (PKM) activity, the N-Gain Score approach was used with a value obtained of 67,86% (quite effective category). It is hoped that in the future the coastal community in Waiheru Village can increase efforts to preserve the mangrove ecosystem.

Abstract

Community Service Activities in the form of KKN which were carried out in Ngidiho Village for 2 months were aimed at providing learning experiences for students, helping the Ngidiho Village community to improve the cleanliness of the village environment and providing a new Village Blue Print for use by the village government and community. This activity involved 10 KKN students from Hein Namotemo University, Field Supervisors (DPL) and Responsible for KKN whose implementation was carried out in several stages, namely: preparatory activities, carrying out village clean-up actions, making village plans and evaluation stages. The results of the activity evaluation show that all activities designed together with the community and KKN students at the location can meet the targeted achievements, so that this activity can be said to provide benefits to the people of Ngidiho Village.
