Abstract

The nyinom (sinoman) tradition is a social heritage of Javanese society rooted in the values of mutual cooperation, solidarity, and selfless service. In Sahang Village, this tradition is not merely a social practice within communal celebrations but also functions as a character education mechanism based on local wisdom. Through the involvement of young people in nyinom activities, values of identity, morality, and competitiveness are naturally cultivated within community life. The urgency of this tradition becomes increasingly relevant when confronted with the challenges of globalization and the pervasive influence of digital culture, which often weaken social interaction and solidarity among citizens. From an interdisciplinary perspective, nyinom can be understood as a bridge between the past and the future: it safeguards the continuity of noble values while serving as an instrument for shaping the character of youth within the Karang Taruna organization. Drawing on recent academic literature (2015–2023), this paper argues that nyinom is not merely a cultural tradition but also a moral bulwark capable of addressing the character crisis among younger generations. Therefore, the revitalization of nyinom becomes a crucial agenda in the development of character education grounded in local wisdom in the digital era.

Abstract

Innovation in the use of local food ingredients is a strategic effort to support food independence while increasing the economic competitiveness of rural communities. This research developed a new product in the form of jackfruit cake as an alternative processed food with higher economic value, longer shelf life, and the potential to become a typical souvenir of Ngrogung Village, Ngebel District, Ponorogo Regency. This community service program uses the Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) method introduced by John McKnight and Jody Kretzmann. This asset-based approach encourages the community to explore internal potential and directs changes in accordance with the community's vision. The activity was carried out through a collaboration between the Community Service Lecture (KPM) group and the UPT BLK Karanglo Lor Ponorogo. The training results showed an increase in knowledge, skills, and socio-economic impacts on the community, especially in processing local food into value-added products. Thus, the jackfruit cake innovation can be a model for sustainable community empowerment based on local potential.

Abstract

This mentoring aims to strengthen the role of the mothers' routine Yasinan and Tahlilan activities in fostering a culture of community harmony in Dukuh Dayakan, Wagir Lor Village, Ngebel District. This activity is carried out using the Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) approach, which emphasizes the utilization of local assets, both material and non-material, based on the principle of Positive Deviance. The subjects of the mentoring are the local community, particularly the group of women who regularly hold Yasinan and Tahlilan ceremonies. The techniques used include observation and documentation, with the researcher's direct involvement in activities ranging from preparation, reading Yasin and tahlil, communal prayer, to social interaction after the event. The results of the mentoring show that Yasinan and Tahlilan not only serve as ritual worship but also as a social space that strengthens relationships, solidifies solidarity, and fosters care among residents. This tradition plays an important role in maintaining a balance between the spiritual and social needs of the community, while also strengthening communication, mutual cooperation, and a sense of togetherness. Thus, the routine Yasinan and Tahlilan activities in Dukuh Dayakan have proven capable of fostering a sustainable culture of harmony. The continuity of this tradition needs to be preserved and passed down to the next generation as an important pillar in preserving religious values, social solidarity, and local cultural identity amidst the current of modernization.

Abstract

This study aims to determine how to empower youth by implementing Karang Taruna organizational management. Organizational management consists of various activities in the form of planning and managing organizational resources to achieve the expected goals. The type of research used in this study is ABCD, namely Asset Based Communities Development (ABCD) is a model approach in community development. This approach emphasizes the inventory of assets in the community that are considered to support community empowerment activities. The results of the study revealed that youth empowerment by implementing Karang Taruna organizational management is running quite well but cannot be said to be running optimally, this is because there are still several things that still need to be fixed and enhanced. This can be seen from various aspects (1) Strategy when planning activities in organizational management and coordination with the plan. (2) Organization, especially negotiations with Karang Taruna activity organizers according to the division of tasks and youth systems, requires careful planning so that activities can be carried out effectively. (3) This is done through efficient organization and maintaining communication. Performance in an organization cannot be separated from the contribution of all team members involved. (4) Monitor the areas of responsibility and achievements of youth groups who hold community representative positions, especially youth who are always responsible for carrying out useful activities.

Abstract

This study comprehensively explores the phenomenon of academic stress and the coping mechanisms developed by students (santri) at Pondok Pesantren Nurul Qur'an, a traditional Islamic educational institution renowned for its intensive kitab kuning (classical Islamic texts) program. Employing a phenomenological qualitative approach, data were collected through semi-structured in-depth interviews with 56 male students aged 13–19 years. The findings reveal that the sources of academic stress are multidimensional, including strict memorization demands for nahwu and fiqh with daily targets, a competitive evaluation system, limited rest time due to the dense academic and religious schedule, and psychological pressure to meet expectations from both family and caregivers. Stress manifests in three main domains: physical (chronic fatigue, sleep disturbances), emotional (anxiety, irritability), and cognitive (memory decline, difficulty concentrating). The students developed dynamic and contextual coping strategies, categorized into three main patterns: (1) Religious-spiritual strategies, such as voluntary worship (tahajjud, fasting), dzikr, and tawakkul (trust in God); (2) Social strategies, including peer support systems and mentorship consultation; and (3) Cognitive-behavioral strategies, such as adaptive time management, self-reward, and simple relaxation techniques. The study also identifies unique protective factors within the pesantren environment, including the internalization of patience as a core value, role modeling by teachers (ustadz), and a positive doctrinal view of hardship in religious education. Policy recommendations include: (1) developing stress management modules based on pesantren values, (2) optimizing the counseling functions within pesantren, and (3) adjusting the evaluation system to better consider students’ mental health.

Abstract

In the current era of education, the role of teachers in guiding early childhood development is very important, especially in overcoming obstacles related to social-emotional aspects. One of the challenges often encountered is the shy nature of children, which can affect their interaction patterns both in the classroom and in the wider social environment. For this reason, it is important to know what are the factors that cause shyness in early childhood and what are the efforts made by teachers to overcome this condition. The purpose of this study was to determine the perceptions and efforts of teachers in overcoming shyness in early childhood at TK Dharma Wanita Ponorogo. This research is field research with a descriptive qualitative approach, using data collection techniques through interviews, observation, and documentation. The data obtained were then processed using a qualitative analysis method with inductive reasoning.Based on the results of the study, the most dominant factors causing shyness in children include family environment, personal psychological factors, and limited experience in social interaction. Meanwhile, the efforts made by teachers include providing motivation, creating a supportive learning environment, involving children in group activities, and using a personal approach. The results of this study indicate that with consistent and patient teacher efforts, children gradually show positive changes, such as daring to answer greetings, participate in class activities, and interact with peers.

Abstract

The community of Ngrogung Village, Ngebel District, has a local potential in the form of abundant jackfruit. However, its utilization is still limited to household consumption or being sold in fresh form with low economic value. This condition indicates the need for human resource (HR) empowerment through improving skills in processing local food ingredients to create added value. This community service activity aims to enhance the capacity of the community, particularly women and youth, through training in making steamed layered jackfruit cake (bolu lapis kukus nangka) as an innovative processed product. The method used was Asset Based Community Development (ABCD), which emphasizes the utilization of assets and local potential through four stages: discovery (identification of potential), dream (formulation of aspirations), design (program planning), and destiny/delivery (implementation and sustainability). The results of the activity show an increase in participants’ skills in processing jackfruit into economically valuable products, greater community awareness of the importance of utilizing local potential, and the emergence of small household-based business initiatives. The impact of this activity not only supports human resource empowerment but also opens business opportunities, strengthens family economies, and encourages community independence based on local potential.
