JIPI (Jurnal IPA dan Pembelajaran IPA) aims to serve original articles on the latest issues and trends in high-quality research focused on technology-integrated science and/or science learning (chemistry, biology, physics, and environment). Technology integration includes learning media, curriculum, assessment processes and science learning outcomes, as well as the application of the latest technology in pure science research. The editors welcome submissions of papers on recent theoretical and experimental research related to: Results of theoretical and empirical research studies on science learning with integrated technology. We invite manuscripts that investigate science learning with the integration of web-based technology, Android, Arduino, nanotechnology, virtual labs, technological and pedagogical content knowledge research, STEM and/or STEAM, sociological issues, virtual reality, augmented reality, and other relevant issues. relevant to science learning. The results of research on the application of science learning media which focuses on studies related to the latest trends in the use of technology-based science learning media at all levels of education and in society. The results of research related to the implementation of the science learning curriculum (chemistry, biology and physics) have contributed to developing the latest trends in the implementation of the science learning curriculum with the integration of technology at all levels of education including science learning design, competency analysis and syllabus. The results of research related to the assessment of science learning processes and outcomes contribute to developing the latest trends in technology-integrated science learning assessment at all levels of education. The results of research related to science teacher education include original theoretical and empirical studies, including professional preparation of teachers, implementation of their work, and/or career development based on the latest technology. Research results related to technology-based science learning in everyday life outside the formal classroom. Papers should examine experiences in environments such as the community, home, internet, museums, and other aspects that develop interest, knowledge, and/or application of science. Science learning that emphasizes attention to aspects of problems and factors related to equality. Research results related to pure science research that is currently trending (chemistry, physics, biology and the environment).

Abstract

During the pandemic, face-to-face training should not be carried out to reduce the spread of the covid outbreak. Therefore, online teacher professional development is an alternative method to replace the face-to-face training. In a program implementation, evaluation is an important component to determine whether the program has been implemented well or not. This evaluation is important to determine the effect of this online training on improving STEM PCK teachers. The evaluation used the CIPP model (Context, Input, Process, and Product), with the embedded mixed method research. This research was conducted on 60 science teachers of SMP alumni online training organized by PPPPTK IPA, from the “Sayangi Bumi” classroom. The results of the context evaluation show that 100% of respondents stated that the program is in accordance with the needs of teachers to strengthen their PCK., while the resources used in the program (Input evaluation) were good. The program implementation process ran 100% as planned and the product evaluation shows an increased teachers' understanding of the STEM approach. Teacher considered that the online professional development is very useful for teachers and can develop their skills in implementing STEM learning during distance learning. Online PD, apart from low-cost, can actually be an alternative way in improving teachers' STEM PCK competence and it also can reach all islands in Indonesia

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya hasil belajar siswa pada materi larutan penyangga. Oleh karena itu diterapkan model pembelajaran inkuiri terbimbing berorientasi green chemistry yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar dan mengetahui respon siswa pada materi larutan penyangga di MAN 1 Banda Aceh Tahun Pelajaran 2018/2019. Populasi sampel pada penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas XI IPA MAN 1 Banda Aceh. Pengambilan sampel  menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Sampel penelitian ini adalah kelas XI IPA3 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan XI IPA4 sebagai kelas kontrol. Pengumpulan data menggunakan 14 soal pilihan ganda beralasan. Analisis data hasil belajar menggunakan perhitungan N-gain dan uji t sedangkan respon siswa menggunakan persentase. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan rata-rata nilai postes kelas eksperimen sebesar 77% sedangkan kelas kontrol sebesar 54%. Skor N-gain kelas eksperimen sebesar 73% termasuk kategori tinggi sedangkan kelas kontrol sebesar 44% termasuk kategori sedang. Hasil analisis data menggunakan uji hipotesis (uji t) yang menunjukkan nilai thit ttabel (7,6121,993) maka terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa model inkuiri terbimbing berorientasi green chemistry dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa. Siswa juga memberikan respon positif terhadap model pembelajaran ini.

Abstract

The competience of 21st century emphasizes to the skills, attitudes and knowledge. Science proses skills are skills that must be possessed by stuents in facing the challenges of the 21st century, an these skills also have a significants influence on student achievement, because science process skills are comprehensive and directed skills that cover the cognitive and psychomotor domains. The SETS approach in science learning is proven to be able to improve science process skills and student achievement. The purpose of this stuy is to find out the effect of the SETS approach in science learning on science process skills and student achievement. This type of research is a meta-analysis research. The sample use is 20 journals that have met the criteria. The data analysis technique is the calculation of the effect size of each journal. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the SETS approach in science learning has a significants influence at every level of education an every grade level, both elementary and junior high schools in improving science prosess skills and student achievement.

Abstract

Abstrak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penerapan pembelajaran model problem solving materi stoikiometri pada mata kuliah Kimia Dasar I, terhadap peningkatan motivasi belajar, KGS dan pemahaman konsep mahasiswa dan mengetahui tanggapan mahasiswa terhadap penerapan model tersebut. Sampel penelitian diberikan perlakuan dengan menerapkan model pembelajaran problem solving. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan tes awal dan tes akhir untuk KGS dan pemahaman konsep, serta uji angket motivasi belajar mahasiswa. Pengolahan data dilakukan dengan uji t-test untuk uji beda. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada Program Studi Pendidikan Kimia FITK UIN Ar-Raniry. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan, skor nilai rata-rata motivasi belajar meningkat dari 53,77 menjadi 87,25 dan skor N-gain rata-rata 72,18, termasuk kategori tinggi. Kemudian skor nilai KGS mahasiswa meningkat dari 38,71 menjadi 74,52 dan pemahaman konsep mahasiswa dari 39,03 menjadi 79,53. Skor N-gain kedua variabel tersebut sebesar 59,84 dan 66,72, termasuk kategori sedang. Hasil uji t-test kedua variabel tersebut pada interval kepercayaan 95%, nilai t(hitung) yaitu 12,09 dan 19,15. Nilai t(tabel) = 1,70, sehingga terdapat perbedaan signifikan antara tes awal dan tes akhir KGS dan pemahaman konsep mahasiswa. Adapun tanggapan mahasiswa terhadap penerapan pembelajaran model problem solving,  menunjukkan skor nilai rata-ratanya sebesar 80,83%, termasuk kategori baik.   Kata Kunci : Problem solving, motivasi belajar, KGS, Pemahaman Konsep, Stoikiometri. Abstract. This study aims to determine the aplication effect of problem solving model learning in stoichiometry for the Chemistry I subject, with increasing of learn motivation, KGS and students conceptual understanding and then determine the students response for problem solving learning model. The researching sample given treatment by  problem solving learning model The data collection done by a pretest and postest for KGS and students conceptual understanding, then learning motivation by questionnaire test. The data processed  by t-test for different test between pretest and posttes. This research study conducted at Education Chemical Studies Program, FITK UIN Ar-Raniry. The results showed that the average scores of learning motivation  increased from 87.25 into 53.77 and average N-gain score 72.18, included of high category. Then the KGS student scores increased from 38.71 into 74.52 and students conceptual understanding from 39.03 into 79.53. The average N-gain  scores both variables at 59.84 and 66.72, into medium category. The results of  t-test these two variables at confidencing interval for 95%, the value of t(count) are 12.09 and 19.15. Then the t(table) = 1.70, so there is a significant difference between the pretest and posttest of KGS and students conceptual understanding. The student response with problem solving learning model aplication, showing the average scores of 80.83%, included both category. The students strongly to solving for every problem in stoichiometry at subject of Chemistry I.Keywords: Problem solving, motivation, KGS, concepts understanding, stoichiometry.

Abstract

Human ignorance in conserving, managing, and protecting the environment makes plastic pollution a real problem for the world's health and environment. Therefore, this study aims to develop environmental attitudes and awareness as well as mastery of pre-service teachers’ concepts through ESD-oriented didactic design in the context of bioplastics. This study used a Didactical Design Research (DDR) with 27 pre-service teachers. The instruments used in this study were tests, questionnaires, validation sheets, and transcripts. Based on the results of the analysis, it was found that there are attitudes and awareness of pre-service teachers that need to be developed, the results of preconception data analysis of pre-service teachers experienced learning barriers in content (1) classification of biodegradable biopolymers (2) starch decomposition process (3) benefits of biopolymers in various fields (4) and the environment (5) bioplastic dilemma (6) function of materials in the manufacture of bioplastics. The validation results indicate that improvements are needed in the learning objectives and some improvements in sentence redaction in didactic situations. After the learning was applied, it was found that most of the responses that emerged from the pre-service teacher were in accordance with what was designed by the educator, and after the percentage analysis was carried out there was a development of attitudes and awareness and mastery of concepts of the pre-service teacher.

Abstract

Abstact. This research aims was to produce a decent learning device IPA (valid, practical, and effective) to complete the learning outcomes in human circulatory system material. To achieve these objectives, the authors developed a learning device that consists of a syllabus, lesson plans, worksheet, Instructional Materials for Students and Student Assessment Instrument using 4-D model of development.This learning device validated and revised before it tested on twenty five students of eight grader of SMP Negeri 2 Losari Brebes with one group pretest-posttest design. In analyzing data, this study used observation, test, and questionnaire. The technique of analyzing data used descriptive qualitative and quantitative design. The result of the study showed that first, the learning device was valid. Second, teaching and learning activity done well. Third, learning outcome was 100% complete. Fourth, students gave positive response with excellent category. Based on the findings, it could be concluded that the learning device for science subject with guided discovery based had been valid, practical, and effective it could be used to complete the learning outcomes of students.Keywords: development of learning device, guided discovery, human circulatory system, completing the learning outcomes. Abstrak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan perangkat pembelajaran IPA yang layak (valid, praktis, dan efektif) untuk menuntaskan hasil belajar siswa pada materi sistem peredaran darah manusia. Untuk mencapai tujuan tersebut, penulis mengembangkan perangkat pembelajaran yang terdiri atas Silabus, Rencana Pelaksanaan Pembelajaran, Lembar Kegiatan Siswa, Bahan Ajar Siswa dan Instrumen Penilaian Siswa dengan menggunakan model pengembangan 4-D. Perangkat hasil pengembangan yang telah divalidasi dan direvisi, kemudian diujicobakan pada 25 orang siswa Kelas VIII H SMPN 2 Losari Brebes dengan menggunakan rancangan One Group Pretest-Postest. Pengumpulan data menggunakan validasi, observasi, tes dan angket respon siswa. Teknik analisis data menggunakan deskripsi kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Hasil analisis data penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Perangkat yang dikembangkan valid; (2) Pembelajaran terlaksana dengan kategori baik; (3) Hasil belajar menunjukkan 100% tuntas, (4) Siswa memberikan respon positif dengan kategori sangat baik terhadap pembelajaran. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian di atas, dapat disimpulkan bahwa perangkat pembelajaran IPA berbasis guided discovery yang telah dikembangkan valid, praktis, dan efektif sehingga layak digunakan untuk menuntaskan hasil belajar siswa.

Abstract

Enviromental preservation plays an important role in the sustainability of living ecosystems. Environmental damage is caused by irresponsible human behavior so that environmental damage enters a very concerning stage. Therefore, environmental literacy needs to be developed from an early age in elementary school students as candidates for future generations who act as active agent of change. This is done with various effort through the educational process and begins with filtering information about student environmental literacy disparities, especially in Bogor City based on environmental schools and public schools. In this study using a survey method, using purposive random sampling technique. The population in this study was determined based on the category of environmental schools (SBL) and public schools (SU). Then, from the school category, respondents were selected based on the grade level. The high class level categories are grade 5 and 6, while the low class level categories are grade 3 and 4. Based on the analysis of the result of the answers to questionnaire, it was found that the environmental literacy of elementary school students in Bogor City for each school category has carried out environmental awareness activities. As for the measurement based on disposition toward the environment, the assessment of students environmental literacy was categorized as good, even among them very good for several indicators of environmental literacy.

Abstract

Metacognitive skill is a high level of thinking or often known as thinking about thinking, which is closely related to critical thinking and problem-solving skills. This study aims to describe the importance of metacognitive skills in training critical thinking and problem-solving skills. This research used a survey method with a descriptive approach. The instrument used was a questionnaire distributed via Google Form. The sample of this study consisted of 10 (8 female and 2 male) science teachers who teach in class VIII. The results showed that 90% of teachers had not used metacognitive-based worksheets in science practicum activities about vibrations and waves even though all of them have known what metacognitive skills are, 90% had not any reflection activities for students before and after the experiment, 70% had never trained their students to determine the purpose, 60% of the worksheets used have not trained students to identify and analyze a problem related to experimental data related to the practicum to be carried out, and 80% and 80% of students are not trained to design practical tables. It can be concluded that it is important for metacognitive-based worksheets to train students to improve critical thinking and problem-solving skills

Abstract

Telah dilakukan penelitian tentang mengolah ampas tebu (Sacharum officanarum, Linn) menjadi biochar melalui proses pirolisis dan aplikasinya pada tanaman seledri (Apium graveolens L.). Penelitian dilakukan untuk mengetahui karakteristik biochar hasil pirolisis ampas tebu serta aplikasinya pada tanaman seledri. Jenis penelitian eksperimen menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif. Data penelitian bersumber dari sampel ampas tebu yang diperoleh dari pedagang air tebu di sekitar jalan Rukoh. Penelitian dilakukan dengan mengolah ampas tebu menjadi biochar dengan proses pirolisis dan dilanjutkan dengan mengkarakterisasi biochar seperti rendemen, kadar air, kadar abu, kadar C/N, nilai pH serta aplikasinya terhadap tanaman seledri. Hasil yang didapatkan yaitu: (1) Rendemen biochar yang dihasilkan dari ampas tebu pada proses pirolisis sebesar 18,34%, (2)Hasil  kadar air biochar sebesar 10,2%, (3) Kadar abu yang dihasilkan dari biochar sebesar 1 gram sebesar 68%, (4)Kadar C pada biochar sebesar 55,66% dan kadar N sebesar 0,40% sedangkan kadar C/N rasio yaitu 139.15, (5)Nilai pH pada biochar ampas tebu yaitu 5,196 dan (6)Hasil analisis sidik ragam dari aplikasi biochar yang telah dilakukan pada tanaman seledri yaitu menunjukkan tidak nyata. Dengan demikian disimpulkan bahwa karakteristik biochar yang didapatkan lebih tinggi dari Standar Nasional Indonesia

Abstract

A good understanding of the three levels of chemical representations is required to understand the concepts of chemical bonding. However, most students are difficult to understand chemical bonding topics due to the abstract concepts and the learning resources used don’t fully integrate the three levels of chemical representations. Therefore, learning resources that cover all of the chemical representations and visualize the abstract concepts are needed. The purpose of this study is to determine the level of validity and responses of teachers and students to the developed chemical bonding module based on multiple representations assisted by AR  technology. This type of research is research and development that refers to the ADDIE instructional design model. The instrument used in this research is the sheet of validity and the response questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed using percentage analysis techniques. The product of this research is a chemical bond module based on multiple representations and an augmented reality chemistry simulator of chemical bonding application. The results of the expert's validation show that the average percentage of content, media, and language validity respectively are 99, 95, and 97% with very valid criteria, so that it can be used in the learning process. In addition, teachers and students gave a very good response to the product with a percentage of 90 and 87% consecutively. These findings indicate that the modules assisted by AR technology could support the chemistry teachers to explain the chemical bonding topic and help students visualize the abstract concepts of chemical bonds
