Abstract

This research focuses on the development of learning media based on multiple representations in organic chemistry courses. Multiple representation-based learning media has the potential to improve students understanding of the concepts of chemical materials that are often considered difficult. However, the lack of learning media used by lecturers to discuss the three aspects of representation is a problem that needs to be addressed. This research aims to produce a nomenclature of hydrocarbon compounds learning video based on multiple representations and to find the eligibility and response for the developed learning video. The research methods are research and development using the 4d development model. The instruments used were the eligibility sheet and response questionnaire using a Likert scale. The eligibility for learning video is included as very feasible, with an average eligibility percentage of 95,03%. The eligibility of learning video was viewed in three aspects, namely, the lesson aspect (94.67%), the language aspect (95.56%), and the media aspect (94.87%). The responses given by students were included as a good category, as shown by the percentage of response results on the small-scale trial of 83,79% and large-scale trial of 83,31%. Based on the outcome of eligibility assessment and field trials, the nomenclature of hydrocarbon compounds learning video based on multiple representations is very feasible for learning media in the organic chemistry of monofunctional compounds course.

Abstract

Paperless movement is a conservation effort. This refers to transitioning from conventional paper-based processes to replacing them with digital alternatives. The paperless movement has been globally implemented in various sectors, ranging from the corporate world to the educational sector. This movement is still little applied as a student's monumental work. This research aims to develop a book template using LaTeX for submitting assignments in the Computational Physics course. This template is designed to support the paperless movement as a conservation effort. We designed and developed a platform based on available LaTeX templates and then adapted it to the needs of computational physics courses. Instructions for using this template were also created and disseminated in learning classes. Next, we apply this template as a medium for collecting assignments and don't forget to ask students for responses regarding the use of this template. The outcome of the research is a book template that has already been used in the class. The students were very enthusiastic about learning the LaTeX program and they have been using it for document writing, especially related to mathematical equations. We hope that the development of this book template that we have carried out can become one of the conservation efforts in learning classes.

Abstract

Environmental damage is increasingly evident, from rising global average temperatures and melting polar ice caps to the increasing frequency of extreme weather. This study aims to conduct a literature review related to sustainability awareness among students at the high school level in Indonesia. The research method chosen in this study is a systematic literature review. Data collection is done by documenting all articles that have similar research in this research report. The articles used in this study were 11 articles published in the 20202024 period and then used as a reference for review. Based on this literature review research, several important findings were found, namely: (1) sustainability awareness can be identified in various aspects, such as instruments with the distribution of seven articles, gender differences with one article, and the existence of a sustainability awareness category covered in three articles from the total articles reviewed; (2) there are fluctuating trends in sustainability awareness research among high school students in Indonesia; and (3) the distribution of research on sustainability awareness has not been evenly distributed in all provinces in Indonesia, and so far it is still dominated by research conducted in West Java Province. These findings point to the need for equitable distribution of research in different regions to get a more comprehensive picture of the level of sustainability awareness across Indonesia.

Abstract

Many students have difficulty understanding chemistry concepts due to limited learning resources such as textbooks and traditional lectures. This research proposes making videos using Dora Toon, an audiovisual web platform specifically for petroleum materials. This project aims to assess video quality through evaluation by research subjects (material experts, media, chemistry educators, and 10 class XI high school students). With a research and development approach, the model used is 4D (define, design, development, disseminate) with a focus on the disseminate stage. The definition stage includes analysis of the front-end, students, concepts, tasks, and learning objectives. The design stages include selecting media format, collecting references, creating initial designs, and making instruments. The development stage includes video production, validation tests on research subjects. Sampling used purposive sampling technique, data collection used a validation questionnaire, and analyzed descriptively in percentages. At the disseminate stage, the product can be distributed to the wider community. However, this stage was not carried out due to time constraints. This results in HD resolution that is easy to use. It produces HD (1280x720p) resolution MP4 videos that are easy to use and contain petroleum ingredients. The evaluation results were very positive. The material expert gave a score of 95% (very good), the media expert gave a score of 95% (very good), the chemistry teacher gave a score of 86.06% (very good), and the students answered positively 100%. These findings indicate that animated videos can be an alternative learning tool for teaching petroleum chemistry in the classroom

Abstract

Increasing the volume of waste at the final disposal site will contribute to environmental pollution due to the seepage of leachate resulting from the waste decomposition process. Leachate is dangerous and toxic because it contains bacteria, organics or inorganic compounds, and heavy metals like cadmium (Cd). Therefore, methods for reducing Cd levels continue to be developed using a mixed matrix membrane. This research used the silica content from rice husk ash as a precursor for zeolite synthesis. The zeolite is then used as a filler to make politersufon-zeolite mixed matrix membrane (PES-zeolite MMM), which is applied to reduce Cd levels in leachate. The synthesized zeolite is a white solid that is similar to Na-A zeolite. The resulting PES-zeolite MMM showed better mechanical properties than the pure PES membrane. MMM has a tensile strength of 20.31 kgf/mm2, elongation of 105.5%, degree of expansion of 33.89%, porosity of 22.85%, and flux of 118.52 L/m2 hours. The optimum performance of PES-zeolite MMM in adsorption of Cd ions was obtained at a loading percentage of 40% and 30 minutes is the best contact period. The adsorption capacity of Cd ions is 2.27 mg/g. The adsorption isotherm model follows the Langmuir isotherm model with a correlation coefficient (R2) of 0.9152 and Qm of 3.35 mg/g. PES-zeolite MMM 40% can be regenerated using NaCl and HCl solutions, with the maximum adsorption capacity for each solution being 1.99 mg/g and 1.75 mg/g. Applying PES-zeolite MMM in leachate samples reduced Cd and Hg ions levels and several other leachate parameters

Abstract

The rapid changes in science, technology, and global challenges require students to develop future thinking skills to anticipate and adapt to uncertainties. However, many secondary education curricula do not explicitly emphasize these skills, leading to a gap in students' ability to plan, predict, and engage in future-oriented decision-making. This study aims to review the literature on effective strategies in improving future thinking skills in secondary education. The research method used is systematic literature review which involves the analysis of various studies from the scopus and web of science databases. The research sample consisted of 213 articles that were filtered to 28 relevant articles. Data analysis was carried out by identifying and categorizing teaching strategies found in the literature and evaluating the effectiveness, obstacles, and role of teachers and the curriculum in their implementation. The findings of the study show that strategies such as future episodic thinking, the use of information and communication technology, and positive foresight are effective in developing students' future thinking skills. The main obstacles identified included limited technological resources, lack of understanding and support from teachers and school administration, and cultural and social challenges. The discussion suggests that the integration of future thinking skills in the curriculum, the use of interdisciplinary approaches, and adequate teacher training can overcome these barriers. This research provides recommendations to improve the implementation of teaching strategies that can prepare students for a future full of challenges and uncertainties

Abstract

The stability of molybdenum (Mo) back contacts in thin-film solar cells is crucial, as oxidation and water ingress can degrade the device performance. This study examines the quality and aging stability of Mo electrodes on flexible muscovite substrates with various adhesion layer deposition pressures (0, 3, 5, and 10 sccm). The microstructure and crystal quality of Mo were analyzed, and film stability was evaluated by exposing samples to atmospheric conditions for eight weeks. Film morphology, reflectance, and resistivity were assessed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), UV-Visible spectrometry, and four-point probe measurements. In addition, impurity diffusion from muscovite substrates was investigated. The results show that the adhesion layer significantly improved Mos microstructure and crystal quality. Mo electrode with an adhesion layer deposited at low pressure exhibited good stability against environmental exposure compared to those without an adhesion layer. Secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS) analysis revealed that in the absence of an adhesion layer, aluminum and silicon diffused into Mo after aging, whereas with an adhesion layer, alkali metal diffusion was observed
