Abstract

Road infrastructure is a vital land transportation facility that plays an important role in supporting economic growth and socio-cultural development. Prof. Syarief Thayeb Road experiences heavy traffic conditions and is frequently passed by overloaded vehicles, such as student buses and trucks transporting palm oil, which contribute to pavement deterioration. This study aimed to analyze the types of pavement distress on the road surface, determine the level of road damage using the Pavement Condition Index (PCI) method, and identify appropriate maintenance actions and solutions for the Prof. Syarief Thayeb Road section based on its damage condition. In the PCI method, pavement distress severity is evaluated based on three main factors, namely distress type, severity level, and distress density. The PCI provides a numerical index ranging from 0 to 100, where 0 indicates failed pavement condition and 100 indicates excellent pavement condition. The pavement condition assessment was conducted through field surveys to identify and record surface distress. The types of damage identified along the 2 km section of Prof. Syarief Thayeb Road included alligator cracking, patching, potholes, and rutting. The analysis results showed that the PCI value for the observed road section was 81.15, which falls into the very good category, indicating that only routine maintenance is required for roads with PCI values between 41 and 81. Recommended repair methods for alligator cracking include partial-depth or full-depth patching, surface layer improvement, and overlay application. Pothole repairs involve partial-depth and full-depth patching, while rutting repairs include shallow partial patching, full-depth patching, and surface layer improvement followed by an additional overlay.

Abstract

Heavy equipment plays an important role in accelerating construction processes and reducing operational costs. Equipment such as dump trucks, motor graders, vibrator compactor rollers, and water tank trucks significantly influence project completion time. However, initial planning often does not match field conditions, resulting in increased costs and delays. Therefore, an analysis of heavy equipment productivity is necessary to ensure efficient utilization and cost optimization. This study aims to analyze the productivity, implementation time, and cost of heavy equipment in the Long Segment Handling Project for routine maintenance, periodic maintenance, and road reconstruction on Jalan Saptamarga – Kampung Besar, Banda Mulia District, specifically for subbase (LPB) and base (LPA) layers over a 1,000-meter section. The analysis of productivity and equipment costs was conducted using the Bina Marga 2023 method. The results show that the productivity of dump trucks is 30.42 m³/day, motor graders reach 975.20 m³/hour for LPB and 989.00 m³/hour for LPA, vibrator compactor rollers achieve 928.20 m³/day for LPB and 702.84 m³/day for LPA, while water tank trucks reach 450.00 m³/day. The LPB work requires 3 working days using 14 dump trucks and one unit each of motor grader, compactor roller, and water tank truck. Meanwhile, LPA work is completed in 2 days using 12 dump trucks and one unit of each supporting equipment. The rental costs per day are Rp 2,356,235.39 for dump trucks, Rp 3,467,735.73 for motor graders, Rp 2,846,290.20 for vibrator compactor rollers, and Rp 2,367,435.18 for water tank trucks. The total equipment rental cost is Rp 125,006,269.65 for LPB and Rp 73,912,571.55 for LPA, resulting in an overall cost of Rp 198,918,841.20.

Abstract

Aceh Jaya Regency is one of the developing regions in Aceh, where infrastructure development is being intensified, particularly the construction of the Paya Baro - Teupin Ara road aimed at improving community accessibility due to previously damaged and inadequate road conditions. This study aims to identify and analyze the risks affecting project implementation and to formulate appropriate mitigation strategies. A quantitative approach was employed through the distribution of questionnaires to 35 respondents, consisting of the owner, consultants, contractors, workers, and local community, with data processed using Microsoft Excel and supported by validity and reliability testing of the research instruments. The results indicate that construction work factors are the dominant contributors to project risk, with the overall risk level predominantly classified as moderate (98), followed by low risk (31) and high risk (11), while no extreme risk was identified. These findings suggest that the project implementation is relatively under control; however, improvements in risk management are still required, particularly in planning, execution control, occupational safety, and environmental management. Therefore, this study provides valuable insights as a basis for decision-making to enhance the effectiveness of risk management in sustainable road construction projects.

Abstract

Porous concrete is a type of construction material designed with an open cavity structure, so it has the ability to pass and absorb water directly. This characteristic makes porous concrete very supportive of the implementation of sustainable drainage systems, especially in efforts to reduce surface water runoff and puddles. This study was conducted with the aim of analyzing the effect of variations in the Water Cement Factor (FAS) on the compressive strength and porosity of porous concrete, which are two main parameters in determining the performance of the material. The constituent materials of porous concrete in this study consist of Portland cement as a binder, coarse aggregate without the use of fine aggregate, and clean water. The variations of Water Cement Factor (FAS) used were 0.25; 0.30; and 0.35, each of which provided different characteristics to the resulting concrete. The test results showed a clear trend, namely the greater the FAS value, the lower the compressive strength of porous concrete, while the porosity value increased. At the Water Cement Factor (FAS) variation of 0.25, the average compressive strength was 6.79 MPa with a porosity of 25.18519%. Furthermore, at the Water Cement Factor (FAS) of 0.30, the compressive strength decreased to 5.30 MPa with a porosity of 36.54321%. The Water Cement Factor (FAS) of 0.35 produced the lowest compressive strength of 4.45 MPa, but had the highest porosity of 57.7778%. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the Water Cement Factor (FAS) of 0.25 is the most optimal variation because it is able to produce a good balance between compressive strength, porosity, and workability of porous concrete.

Abstract

Regional development and increasing economic activities in East Aceh Regency have led to a rise in traffic volume, particularly at major intersections that connect sub-districts and regencies, such as the Gampong Beusa Intersection in Peureulak Barat District. This intersection is an unsignalized three-leg intersection that connects the Medan–Banda Aceh national road with access to Serbajadi District (Lokop). The increase in vehicle volume, especially heavy vehicles related to petroleum industry activities, has caused traffic delays and potential traffic conflicts at the intersection. This study aims to analyze the traffic performance of the Gampong Beusa Intersection and determine its Level of Service (LOS). The analysis method used refers to the Indonesian Highway Capacity Manual (MKJI) 1997 for unsignalized intersections. Primary data were obtained through traffic volume surveys and geometric measurements of the intersection conducted over three days, namely Monday, Thursday, and Saturday during the morning, midday, and evening peak hours. Secondary data in the form of population statistics were obtained from the Central Bureau of Statistics of East Aceh Regency. The analysis results show that the actual intersection capacity, after considering adjustment factors, ranges from 1,782 to 1,825 pcu/hour. The Degree of Saturation (DS) for each approach ranges from 0.57 to 0.69, with an average value of 0.64, indicating that the traffic condition is still below the saturation level. The average vehicle delay ranges from 24 to 27 seconds per vehicle. Based on the delay value, the intersection Level of Service is categorized as LOS D. This condition indicates that the intersection can still operate, but traffic flow has begun to become unstable during peak hours, thus requiring efforts to improve intersection performance in the future.

Abstract

The demand for transportation modes continues to increase year by year, in line with the growing population, which consequently raises the need for adequate transport services. Public transportation plays a crucial role in addressing this issue, with rail-based systems such as monorails being one viable solution. This has led to the emergence of a proposal to develop a monorail system in the capital region of Aceh Province. To ensure the smooth operation of this monorail, it is essential to analyze the financial boundaries of users in terms of their ability and willingness to pay. Therefore, this study aims to determine the extent of users’ financial capacity and willingness to pay for monorail fares. These values are assessed using the Ability to Pay (ATP) and Willingness to Pay (WTP) approaches. The sampling method applied is stratified random sampling, which considers population strata, combined with the Stated Preference (SP) technique. Respondents were selected from residents of Banda Raya, Kuta Alam, Ulee Kareng, and Meuraxa subdistricts. Data analysis was conducted through tabulation of primary and secondary data using Microsoft Excel software. Based on the research findings, the ATP values are as follows: Banda Raya Rp32,330.30; Kuta Alam Rp33,035.63; Ulee Kareng Rp30,960.79; and Meuraxa Rp32,911.14. Meanwhile, the WTP values are: Banda Raya Rp19,632.00; Kuta Alam Rp27,273.00; Ulee Kareng Rp19,875.00; and Meuraxa Rp23,857.00.

Abstract

Floor slabs are a primary component in building structural systems, typically comprising slabs, beams, and columns. However, advances in construction technology have enabled the adoption of flat slab systems, where slabs are directly supported by columns with or without thickening elements (drop panels), offering spatial efficiency and construction simplicity. The key issue addressed in this study is the influence of drop panels on structural response, particularly under lateral loading in basement structures. This study aims to evaluate the behavior of flat slab systems with and without drop panels subjected to lateral loads in the Cempaka Lima General Hospital building, Banda Aceh, Indonesia. The methodology involves the collection of primary data, including field measurements and building coordinates, as well as secondary data such as regional maps, seismic hazard maps, and as-built drawings. Structural analysis was conducted by comparing the response of both systems under earthquake loading using the time history method. The results indicate that the structure with drop panels exhibits a higher maximum axial force of 29,564.37 kN compared to 20,714.64 kN in the system without drop panels. The highest base shear values were also observed in the structure with drop panels, reaching 8,221.75 kN in the X direction and 8,112.79 kN in the Y direction. Displacement increased with the inclusion of drop panels, from 0.244 mm to 0.495 mm in the X direction and from 0.564 mm to 0.928 mm in the Y direction. Nevertheless, inter-story drift remained within the allowable limit of 2% as specified in SNI 1726:2019. These findings suggest that the use of drop panels enhances structural capacity against lateral loads; however, the associated increase in deformation must be carefully considered in practical design applications.
