Abstract

The increase in the number of motorized vehicles in Indonesia has a direct impact on the performance of road networks and intersections, especially unsignalized intersections which have the potential to cause traffic congestion and accidents. This study aims to analyze the performance and determine the Level of Service (LOS) of the Upah Intersection, Karang Baru District, Aceh Tamiang Regency using the Indonesian Road Capacity Manual (MKJI) 1997 method. Field surveys were conducted over 3 days during morning, noon, and evening peak hours to collect traffic volume and intersection geometry data. The results show that the maximum traffic volume occurred on Monday evening, with values of 594 pcu/hour (North direction of the Medan–Banda Aceh Sumatra Cross Road), 794 pcu/hour (South direction of the Medan–Banda Aceh Sumatra Cross Road), and 544 pcu/hour (West direction of the Upah Market Road). The intersection capacity for each approach is 1511 pcu/hour, 1961 pcu/hour, and 1767 pcu/hour, with saturation degrees (DS) of 0.39, 0.41, 0.31 respectively and an average of 0.37. Delays range from 18–20 seconds per vehicle and all approaches fall into the LOS C category. The intersection is currently operating smoothly, but regular maintenance and long-term planning are required to address future vehicle growth.

Abstract

Geopolymer is an environmentally friendly concrete based on pozzolanic materials rich in silica and alumina. The compound reacts with an alkali activator thru a polymerization process, resulting in binding properties. Geopolymer concrete generally requires an activation temperature of around 60℃ to enhance compressive strength, making it less practical for large-scale applications. Therefore, this study examines the most optimal room temperature curing method for the compressive strength of fly ash-based geopolymer mortar. The research uses 12M  and an activator ratio of :  of 1:1. The test specimens in the shape of cubes were cured using three methods: water curing, moist curing, and wrap curing. The compressive strength test was conducted at 7 and 28 days of age. The results show that at 7 days of age, water curing produced the highest compressive strength of 22.24 MPa. However, at 28 days of age, wrap curing produced the highest compressive strength of 47.09 MPa. This shows that wrap curing is capable of maintaining internal moisture and preventing water loss due to evaporation, thereby making the geopolymerization process more stable and forming a denser structure. Thus, wrap curing becomes the most optimal curing method because geopolymer does not require water as the main reaction component.Geopolymer is an environmentally friendly concrete based on pozzolanic materials rich in silica and alumina. Abstract

The increasing need for sustainable transportation drives the importance of providing safe and integrated bicycle facilities in urban road networks. This study analyzes the existing conditions and plans for bicycle facilities on Jalan Jenderal Ahmad Yani, Langsa City, as an effort to improve road user safety and support sustainable mobility. The research methods used include a three-day traffic volume survey during peak hours, road geometric measurements, and road section performance analysis based on the 2023 Indonesian Road Capacity Guidelines (PKJI). The results show that the peak traffic volume reaches 6,424 vehicles/hour on a two-lane, two-way undivided road (2/2 UD) with an effective width of approximately 7.0–7.5 meters. The basic capacity of the road section is 2,800 pcu/hour which after being adjusted for various adjustment factors becomes approximately 2,311 pcu/hour. Traffic volume on each segment ranges from 2,050.4 to 3,833.2 pcu/hour with a saturation degree value between 1.04 and 1.98 and a service level in category F, indicating that traffic flow has exceeded capacity and is operating in unstable conditions. Simulation results of the implementation of bicycle lanes show a decrease in road capacity to around 1,969–2,011 pcu/hour, thus potentially worsening traffic performance. Therefore, the implementation of bicycle lanes on Jalan Jenderal Ahmad Yani is currently not feasible without reorganizing road space and adequate control of side obstacles. The results of this study can be a basis for consideration for the Langsa City Government in planning safe, realistic, and sustainable bicycle facilities.

Abstract

Construction delays are a common challenge in building projects and are often caused by inaccurate scheduling, limited resources, and ineffective project management. The ASPIDMIL Building project experienced a significant delay, with an actual duration of 244 days compared to the planned 180 days. This study evaluates rescheduling using the Critical Path Method (CPM) and the Precedence Diagram Method (PDM) to identify critical activities, assess acceleration potential, and compare cost efficiency. The analysis shows that CPM reduces the project duration to 220 days, while PDM provides a greater improvement with a shortened duration of 209 days. Correspondingly, labor costs decrease by 4.35% under CPM and 9.13% under PDM. These results demonstrate that PDM is more effective for complex building projects that require overlapping activities and flexible logical relationships.

Abstract

Land use change is one of the factors affecting watershed hydrological characteristics and flood discharge. This study aimed to analyze land-use changes between 2013 and 2023 and to evaluate their impact on flood discharge in the Krueng Layan Sub-watershed, Tangse District, Pidie Regency, Aceh Province. Land use maps were analyzed using QGIS, while design rainfall was estimated using the Normal, Log Normal, Gumbel, and Log Pearson Type III distributions. Flood discharge was then estimated using the Soil Conservation Service Synthetic Unit Hydrograph method. The results showed that primary forest, agricultural land, and Paddy fields decreased during the study period, whereas secondary forest, Settlement, and open land increased. Flood hydrograph analysis indicated that peak discharge under the 2023 land use condition was consistently higher than that of 2013 for all return periods. For the 100-year return period, peak discharge increased from 13.46 m³/s to 14.62 m³/s. These findings indicate that cumulative land-use changes between 2013 and 2023 altered the watershed's hydrological response and contributed to higher flood discharge. The results provide useful information for watershed management and flood mitigation planning.

Abstract

Aceh is a region with a high level of earthquake vulnerability due to the influence of regional tectonic activities. This condition requires the implementation of disaster mitigation concepts to reduce the risk of building damage and casualties. Rumoh Aceh is a traditional Acehnese house characterized by a wooden elevated structure supported by umpak foundation. This study analyzes the role of umpak foundation in the seismic response of Rumoh Aceh as an effort to mitigate earthquake risks in the Aceh region. The study employs a literature review method with a descriptive-qualitative analysis approach focusing on structural characteristics and seismic behavior of the building. The results indicate that the umpak foundation contributes to improving structural flexibility, reducing the transfer of seismic forces from the ground to the superstructure, and supporting natural energy dissipation mechanisms through relative movement at the column bases. The Rumoh Aceh structure exhibits a base shear force of 110 kN, while the reinforced concrete building reaches 343.75 kN. The umpak foundation demonstrates a strong relationship with modern earthquake disaster mitigation principles, particularly in reducing structural vulnerability. This research is expected to serve as a reference for developing earthquake risk mitigation concepts based on local wisdom in Aceh region.

Abstract

The increasing number of passengers at the Banda Aceh Type A Passenger Terminal requires improvements in service performance to enhance passenger satisfaction. This study aimed to evaluate the terminal service performance based on passenger importance and satisfaction levels and to determine the Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI). A quantitative approach was employed using questionnaires distributed to 100 respondents selected through simple random sampling. The evaluation referred to the Indonesian Minister of Transportation Regulation No. PM 40 of 2015, covering six service aspects: safety, security, reliability, comfort, convenience, and equality. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Importance Performance Analysis (IPA), and CSI. The results indicate that the main service attributes requiring improvement are road safety facilities, fire extinguishers, driver rest areas, and battery charging facilities. The CSI value of 84.62% indicates that passengers are very satisfied with the overall service performance of the Banda Aceh Type A Passenger Terminal.
