Abstract

This study seeks to assess the impact of service quality, perceived value, and destination image on tourists' intention to return to Lombok. Based on a study involving 366 respondents, the research confirmed the significant relationship between these variables, with tourists generally expressing high satisfaction during their visits, particularly in group settings. Empathy emerged as the most influential dimension within service quality, while emotional value was a key aspect of perceived value. The resulting image dimension strongly influenced the destination image, indicating that Lombok leaves a lasting and positive impression on visitors. The analysis revealed that both service quality and destination image significantly influence tourists' intentions to revisit, while perceived value did not exhibit a significant effect. The findings imply that enhancing emotional and empathetic service aspects, along with strengthening Lombok’s positive image, could effectively encourage repeat visits. However, since perceived value alone does not drive revisit intention, the study suggests that other factors may play a more critical role. This study recommends tourism stakeholders in Lombok concentrate on enhancing service quality, especially in empathy, and persist in enhancing the island's image through focused marketing strategies. Future research should explore additional variables that influence the intention to revisit in order to provide a more comprehensive understanding of tourist behavior.

Abstract

This study explores the innovation model and the role of public policy in tourism development within Pamekasan Regency, utilizing the Analytical Network Process (ANP) approach. It primarily seeks to identify and rank key factors that affect the effectiveness of tourism policy and offer strategic recommendations for improving its development. The research adopts a mixed-method approach that encompasses qualitative insights, including expert interviews and extensive literature reviews, as well as quantitative data collected through a structured questionnaire based on ANP administered to experts, managers, and public decision makers in the tourism sector. Results indicate that, among others, human capital is the most important component of tourism development, followed by institutional/bureaucratic improvements, then accessibility. This emphasis on human capital is in line with endogenous growth theory, which underlines the role played by people in driving economic prosperity. On the other hand, institutional improvement promotes efficient policies for promoting tourism, while accessibility, although ranked lower, still remains crucial for enhancing visitors’ experiences. The recommendations for strategy consist of rigorous training for personnel in the tourism sector, the easing of license and permit procedures, and the development and enhancement of transportation and communication networks. The aim of these strategies is to promote a balanced and sustainable growth within the tourism industry. The study’s rigorous empiricism and theoretical framework offer strong support for the suggested strategies and make theoretical and application-level contributions to tourism management. In this research, by connecting the research results to the endogenous growth theory and supporting the results with a literature review, useful information and strategic solutions for international policymakers and stakeholders in Pamekasan Regency are provided.

Abstract

The tourism industry is well known as one booster for economic development. The advance of the tourism industry will lead to the improvement of other economic sectors. Therefore, the Indonesian government is taking steps to ensure the development of its tourism industry by launching 10 super-priority destinations (DSP). Despite numerous efforts and interventions, evidence suggests that the demand for the tourism industry in certain DSPs remains unsatisfied. This also holds true for Lake Toba in North Sumatra. Therefore, it is important to understand how to promote the destination site effectively and increase the number of domestic visitors. This study is aimed at assessing the impact of digital marketing through Instagram to determine the number of domestic tourist trips. The engagement rate (ER) on Instagram posts represents the impact of digital marketing. The result reveals that the topic 'cultural tourism and its activities that develop the economy' has the highest average ER, reaching 692.48. Further analysis reveals that the LSTM model, with independent variables TPK, GTI, and ER on the topic of 'ticket information and vacation packages', is the most effective model for predicting the number of domestic tourist trips to North Sumatra. This analysis emphasizes the crucial role of digital marketing to shape the demand for the tourism industry. The conclusion is based on the significant influence of the Google Trends Index (GTI) and ER on Instagram posts, which serve as a gauge for domestic visitor numbers. The related stakeholders must consider this aspect to sustain its business.

Abstract

The Floating Market holds significant potential to attract tourists, making it essential to integrate a welfare-oriented approach into its management to ensure contributions to regional development. Effective governance and collaboration among stakeholders, including local governments and non-governmental actors, are crucial for balancing tourism growth with sustainability. This study explores the roles of stakeholders in managing Floating Market resources, identifies key challenges, and offers insights for promoting local engagement and enhancing regional welfare through targeted policies. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, the research employs purposive sampling to conduct in-depth interviews with key stakeholders, including Floating Market management, workers, local residents, and representatives from the West Bandung Regency (KBB) Tourism and Culture Agency. Data analysis, using Social Network Analysis (SNA) and stakeholder mapping, identifies roles, relationships, and influence within tourism management. The results highlight critical issues affecting regional welfare, such as a lack of transparency in recruitment, limited training opportunities for workers, low wages, and environmental challenges like traffic congestion and waste management. The study suggests strategies to address these issues, including creating inclusive recruitment processes, implementing routine professional development programs, establishing fair wages, integrating health and employment insurance, improving infrastructure, and promoting sustainable practices. Another key strategy is to enhance the use of local products in the market, supporting local agriculture. Additionally, fostering open communication between management and locals is vital to ensure equitable distribution of tourism benefits. Effective stakeholder management can enhance the socio-economic impacts of tourism, benefiting both the Floating Market and the broader West Bandung Regency.

Abstract

This research aims to investigate the effect of electronic word of mouth (E-WOM), destination image (DI), and perceived value (PV) on visit decision (VD) for Generation Z visitors in Jakarta Textile Museum. To determine the relationship between these variables, this research surveyed 238 Gen Z visitors using quantitative methods, including SEM analysis. The results revealed that perceived value mediates visit decisions and significantly affects them. E-WOM increases perceived value but has little impact on visit decisions. Conversely, destination image strongly influences the perceived value and visit decisions. The research emphasizes the need to improve the museum's image and value to attract Gen Z. It advises museum management to improve experiences, build emotional connections, and use E-WOM to boost their image. This is especially important in the digital age because Gen Z's decisions are largely impacted by internet information. Future studies should examine other visit decision elements and E-WOM in different circumstances.

Abstract

This study explores the Dieng Creative Festival (DCF) management strategies that combine tourism and traditional ceremonies, emphasising community-based tourism (CBT) and collaboration for sustainable and independent festival management to benefit citizens. Qualitative ethnographic methods are used in this study to reveal the meaning of a culture by interpreting objects, stories, rituals, and practices in a cultural group. The results of the survey show that DCF can have a significant impact on the tourism and creative economy sectors if the event organisers implement the following strategy: DCF organisers need to determine the orientation of the organisation in the form of increasing the tourism industry economy; preserving local traditions; and synergy between the two. The orientation of the DCF implementation aims to align the needs of preserving tradition and increasing the tourism economy, it is necessary to involve residents in its planning and implementation. Resident participation is closely related to efforts to preserve living traditions. DCF organisers need to determine the target audience for their festival. Festival development can be directed by building a strategy for packaging events, promotions, implementation schedules, attractions, amenities, and other supporting hospitality facilities. DCF has provided business opportunities for small business actors. Festival organisers need to provide access to MSMEs and increase their equality. The government is advised to be a catalyst for implementing sustainable festivals. In addition to funding support for DCF, the government needs to provide space and facilities that bring together festival organisers, including residents, business actors, academics, and the media. This space can be helpful for organisers to learn and network to improve the festival's quality
