Abstract

Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease influenced by psychological factors such as stress and negative thoughts that may exacerbate recurrence. Patients often experience anxiety, overthinking, and sleep disturbances, affecting clinical stability. This study aimed to analyze the implementation of nursing care using the thought stopping technique to reduce psychological stress and maintain psoriasis stability. A case study design was applied to three patients with varying severity levels. The intervention was conducted over two months through several sessions with periodic evaluation. Data were collected using nursing assessment, the Perceived Stress Scale-10 (PSS-10), and clinical observation. The findings showed a decrease in stress and anxiety levels in all patients, with no worsening of clinical conditions during the intervention period. Subjective complaints such as itching were reduced, and skin conditions remained stable. The implementation of this intervention implies that thought stopping can be used as an effective non-pharmacological nursing approach to manage psychological stress and support clinical stability in psoriasis patients.

Abstract

Sleep disturbances are one of the most common complaints experienced by perimenopausal women due to hormonal changes, decreased melatonin production, and increased sympathetic nervous system activity. The impact of sleep disturbances during this phase not only affects physical and psychological function, but also quality of life and daily productivity. Non-pharmacological interventions such as Senam Bugar Lansia (Elderly Fitness Exercise) are considered potential in improving sleep quality through stimulation of the parasympathetic nervous system, increased endorphins, and regulation of circadian rhythms. This study aims to analyze the effect of Senam Bugar Lansia on sleep quality in perimenopausal women in the Bintang Ninggi 1 Community Health Center (Pustu Bintang Ninggi 1) Work Area. The study used a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pretest–posttest approach. The sample consisted of 30 respondents selected using a total sampling technique. Sleep quality was measured using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). Data analysis was performed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test with a significance level of p < 0.05. The results showed a decrease in PSQI scores from 11.4 to 6.2 after the intervention, and statistical tests showed a significant difference (p < 0.001). These findings indicate that Senam Bugar Lansia (Elderly Fitness Exercise) is effective in improving sleep quality in perimenopausal women. Senam Bugar Lansia can be recommended as a routine, community-based intervention to improve sleep quality and well-being in perimenopausal women.

Abstract

The use of long-acting contraceptive methods (MKJP) is an important strategy for reducing unintendedpregnancies and improving maternal and family health. However, contraceptive method choice is influenced notonly by individual factors but also by interpersonal factors within the family, particularly partner support. Thisstudy aims to analyze the relationship between partner support and long-acting contraceptive choice among newfamily planning acceptors at the Lamunti Community Health Center (UPT). This study used a quantitative, observational, and analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. The study was conducted at the LamuntiCommunity Health Center (Puskesmas) in May–June 2025. The study population was all new family planningacceptors who received family planning services during the study period. The sampling technique used totalsampling with 30 respondents. Partner support was measured using a structured questionnaire based on a Likertscale that included emotional, informational, instrumental support, approval, and involvement in decision-making.Data on contraceptive choice were obtained from family planning service records. Data were analyzed univariatelyand bivariately. The results showed that all respondents had a high level of partner support and all new familyplanning acceptors chose long-term contraceptive methods. The implant method was the most commonly chosenmethod, followed by the IUD. The lack of data variation in both variables prevented inferential statistical testsfrom being conducted. In conclusion, partner support plays a crucial role in creating a conducive environment forlong-term contraceptive choice. These findings emphasize the importance of a partner-based family planningcounseling approach in primary health care to improve the quality and sustainability of contraceptive use.

Abstract

Immunization is among the most efficacious health strategies for avoiding infectious illnesses in babies and diminishing child morbidity and mortality. Despite the extensive implementation of routine immunisation programmes, immunization coverage among infants aged 0–12 months remains suboptimal and is affected by numerous factors, especially maternal characteristics. Maternal factors significantly influence adherence to the immunization regimen throughout early infancy. This study seeks to examine the determinants affecting immunization coverage in infants aged 0–12 months within the jurisdiction of the Kamawen Auxiliary Health Centre. The research employs an observational analytical design with a cross-sectional methodology. The study sample comprises women with infants aged 0–12 months, selected using purposive sampling. Data were gathered via structured interviews employing questionnaires and by verifying newborn immunization status through the Mother and Child Health (MCH) book. Data analysis was conducted univariately and bivariately employing the chi-square test, with a significance threshold of p < 0.05. The findings indicated that the majority of newborns had attained full immunization in accordance with the established schedule. Bivariate analysis revealed a substantial correlation between maternal education level and age and the completion of baby immunization. Mothers with elevated educational attainment and of advanced reproductive age were inclined to produce infants with full immunization status. The characteristics of maternal education and age are substantially correlated with the completion of immunization for infants aged 0–12 months. These findings underscore the necessity of enhancing immunization teaching and counseling customized to maternal factors to elevate immunization coverage at the primary health care level.

Abstract

Menstrual cycle disorders are reproductive health problems commonly experienced by adolescent girls and can reflect endocrine imbalances and nutritional status. Body mass index (BMI) is known to play a role in regulating reproductive function, but empirical evidence based on primary health care services, especially in non-metropolitan areas, remains limited. This study aims to analyse the relationship between body mass index and menstrual cycle disorders in adolescent girls in the working area of Posi Posi Community Health Centre. This study used a quantitative observational cross-sectional analytical design. The subjects consisted of 78 adolescent girls aged 10–19 years who had experienced menstruation and met inclusion criteria. Data were collected through structured questionnaires to assess menstrual cycles and anthropometric measurements to determine BMI. Data analysis was conducted using univariate and bivariate methods with the chi-square test at p < 0.05. The results showed that most respondents had normal BMI, although abnormal BMI proportions remained notable. Menstrual disorders were more frequent among underweight, overweight, and obese adolescents compared to those with normal BMI. Statistical analysis indicated a significant relationship between BMI and menstrual disorders. In conclusion, BMI is significantly associated with menstrual cycle disorders in adolescent girls. These findings emphasise the importance of monitoring nutritional status as part of adolescent reproductive health services through promotive and preventive approaches. Furthermore, community health centres should strengthen education, early detection, and counselling programs to prevent complications and improve adolescents’ overall health outcomes and quality of life in the future generations sustainably for long term wellbeing overall.

Abstract

Vitamin K administration is an essential component of standard neonatal care aimed at preventing bleeding disorders in newborns. Compliance with standard operating procedures (SOP) is a key indicator of the quality of neonatal services provided by midwives. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between vitamin K administration and compliance with neonatal SOP at Puskesmas Bongo II. A quantitative analytic study with a cross-sectional design was conducted from August to October 2025 involving 35 newborns selected using a total sampling technique. Data were collected through medical record review and observation sheets. Univariate analysis was used to describe newborn characteristics, while bivariate analysis was performed using Spearman’s rank correlation test. The results showed that most newborns received vitamin K (82.9%) and were managed in compliance with SOP (85.7%). Bivariate analysis revealed a strong and statistically significant relationship between vitamin K administration and SOP compliance (ρ = 0.898; p < 0.01). These findings indicate that proper vitamin K administration is closely associated with broader adherence to neonatal care standards. Although causal relationships cannot be inferred, the results highlight the importance of strengthening supervision, training, and monitoring of midwifery practices to improve the quality and consistency of neonatal care services.

Abstract

The use of injectable contraceptives with Depo Medroxyprogesterone Acetate (DMPA) is growing in popularity, and is now a common hormonal contraceptive technique. In recipients at the Bango II Health Center, this study aimed to identify changes in sexual function, especially libido, before and after the use of DMPA injectable contraception. The analytical survey technique used in this study uses a cross-sectional approach. The study group included all patients who used DMPA injectable contraceptives at the Bango II Health Center and were registered there. Using basic random sampling, 35 individuals were selected for the sample. The Wilcoxon Signed Rank test is used to assess libido variations before and after the use of DMPA injectable contraception. According to the findings, 14 of the 35 participants experienced a decrease in libido after using DMPA's injectable contraception, while none reported an improvement. Before and after using DMPA, 21 participants reported no change in their libido. After using DMPA injectable contraception, libido changes tended to decrease, as indicated by an average rating value of 7.50 and a rating amount of 105.00 in the decreased libido group. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the use of DMPA injectable contraceptives at the Bango II Health Center is more likely to be associated with a decrease or no changes in libido in the user, so it is necessary to pay attention in providing contraceptive counseling, especially regarding potential side effects on sexual function.
