Abstract

The development of sago as a local food resource in Tuada Village, West Halmahera Regency, aimed at realizing a self-sufficient food village based on local potential. The main activities include strengthening the capacity of the Marimoi MSMEs in managing sago processing businesses, which enables the community to improve their entrepreneurial skills and enhance the economic value of sago. Education on the application of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) was provided to ensure food quality and safety, allowing sago-based products to meet higher market standards. In addition, knowledge transfer on innovative processing techniques has been carried out to expand the variety of sago products, such as instant flour, sago-based macaroni, and sago egg snacks, which significantly increase added value and consumer appeal. The program also emphasizes strengthening community economic institutions through collaborative product marketing strategies and the utilization of digital technology, thereby expanding market reach and reinforcing the position of local products. The technologies applied include hard technologies, such as modern processing equipment, and soft technologies, including business management, packaging, and effective promotion strategies. Furthermore, feasibility studies on household-scale sago flour production and product diversification indicate positive outcomes from technical, financial, and socio-economic perspectives, providing a strong foundation for sustainable business development. Overall, the integration of these initiatives demonstrates that sago development not only contributes to local food security but also plays a significant role in improving community welfare and strengthening the village economy in a sustainable and independent manner.

Abstract

The utilization of kepok banana stem waste is still not optimal in Tadenas Village, Moti Island, North Maluku. So far, banana stems are only considered as worthless agricultural leftovers. The main problem faced by the community, especially women, is the limited knowledge in processing local waste into innovative products that can be marketed. This activity aims to empower women through optimizing kepok banana stem waste into innovative jerky products with the "Mila Rasa" brand, as well as encouraging the improvement of community welfare through local potential-based businesses. The implementation method uses a participatory approach with stages: (1) identification of the potential of local raw materials, (2) socialization and counseling regarding the nutritional value and business opportunities of products, (3) production assistance and quality standardization on processing banana stems into jerky, and (4) introduction of simple marketing strategies. The results of the study showed a significant increase.

Abstract

This study explores the ecotourism potential of Foramadiahi Village, a historic community situated at the southern slopes of Mount Gamalama in Ternate, Indonesia. The research aims to identify and evaluate natural, cultural, and built attractions that can be developed sustainably to enhance local tourism while preserving environmental and cultural heritage. Employing a mixed-methods approach combining qualitative descriptive analysis with quantitative modelling through SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) and Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA), the study prioritizes key tourism assets for strategic development. Findings reveal that natural landscapes and cultural heritage sites offer the highest potential, supported by community readiness and economic viability. Meanwhile, infrastructural limitations and promotional challenges present constraints. The research highlights the importance of integrating community participation, cultural preservation, and environmental sustainability in developing ecotourism. Recommendations emphasize strengthening infrastructure, enhancing digital marketing, and conserving indigenous rituals and traditions as integral components of sustainable tourism development. This study contributes to the growing body of knowledge on community-based ecotourism by providing a data-driven framework to guide strategic planning in comparable rural contexts.

Abstract

Rice production can be increased through the use of modern agricultural technology and farmer participation in implementing government policies. The purpose of this study was to analyze farmers' responses to the implementation of the pumping program as an effort to increase land productivity in Masbagik District, East Lombok Regency. Data were obtained through interviews guided by a questionnaire, then analyzed using a composite Likert scale score. The analysis showed that the majority of farmers in Masbagik District responded positively to the pumping optimization program. 52,5 percent of respondents rated the program as highly beneficial (very beneficial), 45.0% as moderate, and only 2.5% as very low. This reflects the program's effectiveness in supporting water availability, increasing productivity, and increasing planting time efficiency, making it worthy of being maintained and further developed.

Abstract

Suboptimal land use for food availability is unavoidable, alternative rice farming in dry land is the current choice. The fluctuating prices of agricultural production factors require an in-depth study of detailed price estimates and allocations. The purpose of this study is to analyze the income of dry land rice farming in Jerowaru District. The study is descriptive, with purposive location selection, in a dry land rice agro-ecosystem with rain-fed irrigation in Sekaroh Village, Jerowaru District, East Lombok Regency. Respondents were determined by quota sampling of 30 people and selected randomly. Data were collected using observation techniques, structured interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using cash flow analysis techniques and described using descriptive methods. The results of the study obtained the production cost components of dry land rice farming amounted to Rp12,479,222/LLG or Rp14,321,187/ha, dry grain production harvested 4,519 tons, land productivity capacity reached 1.32 ku/LLG or 1.72 ku/ha. The farm income value is Rp25,649,000/LLG or Rp29,373,500/ha. The study concluded that the income from dryland rice farming in Jerowaru District is Rp13,169,778/LLG or Rp15,052,313/ha.

Abstract

Salah satu sumber utama usaha masyarakat Desa Bulu Mario adalah pertanian kopi karena topografinya yang dingin dan terdiri dari gunung dan perbukitan. Namun disisi lain terdapat permasalahan yang kompleks pada lahan kopi masyarakat karena pertaniannya masih tradisional yang mengakibatkan tanaman kopi tidak berproduksi sesuai target yang diharapkan. Selain itu alih fungsi lahan turut merugikan keberlanjutan ekosistem lahan pertanian dan mengancam keberadaan hutan. Oleh karena itu SRI sebagai lembaga konservasi hutan mengadakan sekolah lapang agroforestri berbasis kopi yang bertujuan untuk memberikan pelatihan pengelolaan lahan secara agroforestri kepada petani desa Bulu Mario. Berdasarkan hal tersebut maka tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan pelaksanaan dan menganilisis tingkat penerapan materi sekolah lapang agroforestri tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan mixed method dengan teknik pengambilan responden secara sensus. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam, wawancara terstruktur, studi literature, dan observasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 66% pelaksanaan sekolah lapang agroforestry tidak sesuai dengan panduan. Selanjutnya tingkat penerapan materi Sekolah Lapang Agroforestri Berbasis Kopi termasuk dalam kategori sedang dengan skor 1920. Dimana materi SL Agroforestri Berbasis Kopi yang berkaitan dengan pengendalian HPT dan pembuatan pestisida nabati adalah yang paling rendah tingkat penerapannya. Rendahnya tingkat penerapan tersebut disebabkan karena tingkat kehadiran peserta yang juga rendah. Oleh karena itu disarankan agar peserta mengikuti seluruh proses pembelajaran dalam kegiatan SL. Selain itu  pemateri dalam kegiatan SL perlu mempersiapkan materi sesuai dengan kebutuhan peserta.

Abstract

Kakao (Theobroma cacao L.) merupakan salah satu komoditas ekspor unggulan Indonesia yang berkontribusi signifikan terhadap penerimaan devisa negara. Akan tetapi, dalam rentang waktu 2018–2022 terjadi penurunan produksi kakao yang salah satunya dipicu oleh kondisi kekeringan. Upaya yang dapat dilakukan untuk menanggulangi permasalahan tersebut adalah melalui perbaikan teknik budidaya, khususnya pada tahap pembibitan, salah satunya dengan pemanfaatan pupuk hayati mikoriza.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis efektivitas pemberian pupuk hayati mikoriza pada berbagai tingkat cekaman kekeringan terhadap pertumbuhan bibit kakao. Kegiatan penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan Juni hingga Oktober 2025 di Green House Laboratorium Tanaman Politeknik Negeri Jember. Rancangan penelitian yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) faktorial dengan dua faktor perlakuan. Faktor pertama adalah dosis pupuk hayati mikoriza yang terdiri atas M0 (tanpa mikoriza), M1 (4 gram/polybag), dan M2 (8 gram/polybag). Faktor kedua adalah interval penyiraman yang meliputi C0 (kontrol), C1 (penyiraman setiap 3 hari), dan C2 (penyiraman setiap 5 hari).Kombinasi perlakuan berjumlah sembilan dengan tiga kali ulangan. Data hasil penelitian dianalisis menggunakan uji ANOVA, kemudian dilanjutkan dengan uji Beda Nyata Jujur (BNJ) pada taraf 5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa aplikasi pupuk hayati mikoriza memberikan pengaruh nyata terhadap volume akar, dengan hasil terbaik diperoleh pada dosis 8 gram/polybag sebesar 4,41 cm³. Sementara itu, perlakuan cekaman kekeringan berdasarkan interval penyiraman tidak berpengaruh signifikan terhadap pertumbuhan bibit kakao pada seluruh parameter yang diamati. Interaksi antara pupuk hayati mikoriza dan cekaman kekeringan menunjukkan bahwa kombinasi dosis mikoriza 4 gram/polybag dengan penyiraman setiap satu hari sekali mampu meningkatkan jumlah daun secara nyata, yaitu mencapai rata-rata 14,53 helai.

Abstract

Woku Cooking Fish (IMAWOKU) is a traditional food typical of North Maluku that has a strong taste and great potential to be developed as a ready-to-eat local food product. However, conventional processing has limited shelf life and quality consistency, so packaging innovations are needed that are able to maintain the sensory and nutritional quality of the product. The main problem in the development of IMAWOKU as a ready-to-eat food is how the canning process affects the level of consumer acceptance and the nutritional composition of the product. This study aims to analyze the sensory characteristics and nutritional quality of IMAWOKU in canned packaging as the basis for the development of ready-to-eat local food. The research was carried out in March–August 2025 using a laboratory experimental approach. The main ingredient used is red snapper with typical North Maluku spices. IMAWOKU products are packaged in cans and thermally sterilized. Sensory evaluation was carried out through hedonic tests on 30 semi-trained panelists with attributes of color, aroma, taste, texture, and overall preference. Nutritional quality was analyzed using proximate tests including moisture content, protein, fat, ash, and carbohydrates. The results of organoleptic tests showed that the canned IMAWOKU obtained a high level of likeability, with an average color value of 7.83±0.72 (like–very like), aroma 8.10±0.65 (very like), taste 8.35±0.58 (very like), texture 7.75±0.70 (like), and overall likability 8.20±0.60 (very like). Proximate analysis showed a moisture content of 66.85±1.12%, protein 18.75±0.85%, fat 6.20±0.54%, ash 2.05±0.18%, carbohydrates 6.15±0.92%, and a total energy of 158.4±4.6 kcal/100 g. Based on these results, it can be concluded that canned IMAWOKU has excellent sensory acceptance and balanced nutritional quality, so it has the potential to be developed as a nutritious, practical, and value-added ready-to-eat local food.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effects of repeated cassava frying using the deep-fat frying method at 180°C on the physicochemical and sensory quality of Red Palm Oil and Palm Oil. The experiment employed a two-factor Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of five frying repetitions and two types of oil. The analytical parameters assessed included peroxide value, moisture content, free fatty acid (FFA) content, impurity level, and organoleptic attributes (taste, texture, aroma, and color). The findings demonstrated that repeated frying exerted a significant influence (p 0.05) on both oils, particularly in terms of moisture content, FFA concentration, and peroxide value. Sensory evaluation indicated that cassava fried in Red Palm Oil consistently achieved higher scores for texture, aroma, and color compared to that fried in Palm Oil. Moreover, the interaction between oil type and frying frequency showed a statistically significant effect on the measured parameters. Red Palm Oil exhibited superior oxidative stability relative to Palm Oil and maintained favorable sensory characteristics up to the second frying cycle. Based on these results, it can be concluded that using oil more than two to three times during deep-fat frying markedly decreases oil quality and may compromise the sensory attributes of the resulting fried products.

Abstract

Coconut farming is a dominant agricultural activity in Maba Tengah District and serves as the main source of livelihood for the local community. Understanding farmers’ profiles is essential for assessing their capacity within the coconut production system. This study aims to analyze the profile of coconut farmers and its relevance to the coconut production system in Maba Tengah District, East Halmahera Regency. The research was conducted using survey and interview methods, with purposive sampling involving 20 coconut farmers. Data were collected through structured questionnaires and analyzed using quantitative descriptive analysis. The results show that coconut farmers are predominantly male and fall within productive age groups (31–59 years). Most farmers have junior or senior high school education levels, with cultivation areas ranging from 30,000 to more than 50,000 m². Average production per harvest varies between 750 kg and 1,250 kg, while annual income ranges from Rp 20,000,000 to Rp 80,000,000. Coconut farming is more commonly practiced by the Maba ethnic group than by Javanese farmers. These farmer characteristics reflect the human capital capacity that supports the effectiveness of the coconut production system and provides a foundation for the future development of coconut-based agrotechnology in East Halmahera.
