Abstract

Due to competition that is evolving in Nigerian airline industry and the need to build relationship with customer has results in the aviation sector’s quest to device effective marketing communication elements to generate satisfaction. This study investigated the impact of marketing communication on customer relationships within selected airline companies in Lagos state, Nigeria. Employing a quantitative research design due to the infinite population size, the study utilized a survey method with questionnaires to collect primary data from domestic customers of the chosen airlines. The sample size of 246 was determined using Godden model, employing multistage sampling techniques. A total of 150 questionnaires were gathered for data analysis. Standard multiple regression was employed to analyze the data. The findings indicated that advertising showed a significant relationship with customer relationships (β = .227, t = 2.015, p < .011), and sales promotion also exhibited a positive and significant relationship with customer relationships (β = 0.412, t = 1.925, p = .005). The study concluded that implementing effective marketing communication elements such as advertising and sales promotion by airline management enhances the relationship between the firm and its customers by facilitating interaction between customers and airline service providers. The study recommends that airline service providers should formulate their communication strategies to raise awareness, stimulate interest and desire, and prompt actions among customers toward their services. This approach aims to establish robust customer relationships capable of enduring the dynamic business environment and enhancing customer satisfaction.

Abstract

Market orientation in the higher education sector is receiving growing scholarly attention. There are several studies which show that market orientation has positive outcomes for organization performance. However, there is a lack of evidence in studies examining the relationship of market orientation and university student experiences in general and in specific Uganda. Hence, this study. A qualitative approach was deemed appropriate for the study. A sample of nine students in their second year of study in the Faculty of Marketing and international Business was used. Personal in-depth interviews using structured open-ended questions were used to examine the variables under study. A qualitative data analysis was carried out which showed that market orientation has many associations with university student experiences. The main themes for market orientation were customer focus and functional orientation which are important in creating and sustaining student experiences. The results showed some lapses in the implementation of market orientation. The findings for the association between study variables were consistent with extant literature except in cases where the study returned mixed results. The main themes for student experiences revealed that self-motivation is very important, gossip can have negative outcomes on student experiences, and though the physical environment is important it had not been well attended to. Lastly, the influence of peers and participation in non-academic activities could have mixed effects.

Abstract

Tax compliance remains a significant challenge in developing economies, where inadequate tax strategies and weak enforcement mechanisms hinder effective revenue generation and economic development. Given the issues, this study aims to examine the impact of tax strategies on tax compliance in South-West Nigeria. Specifically, the study seeks to: assess the effect of tax planning strategies on tax compliance, evaluate the influence of compliance and risk management strategies on tax compliance, investigate the impact of tax avoidance strategies on tax compliance, and determine the moderating effect of regulatory enforcement on the relationship between tax strategies and tax compliance in South-West Nigeria. A cross-sectional survey design was adopted, targeting a population of 159,000 taxpayers and 8,818 SIRS staff with a sample size of 399 and 383 respondents. Data was analyzed using Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to establish relationships among the study variables. The findings reveal that tax planning and compliance and risk management strategies positively influence tax compliance, while tax avoidance strategies negatively impact compliance. The study concludes that effective tax planning and robust compliance measures can enhance adherence to tax regulations, with regulatory enforcement playing a crucial role in strengthening compliance efforts. It recommends that tax authorities in South-West Nigeria implement stronger regulatory frameworks, improve taxpayer education, and leverage digital tools to monitor and mitigate tax avoidance practices, thereby fostering a more compliant tax environment.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the challenges and talent management strategies in managing Generation Z in the workplace. Generation Z, as digital natives, brings significant changes that demand the adaptation of an integrated Human Resource (HR) strategy. The method used is qualitative with a literature review approach, which collects data from various scientific journals, books, and research reports. The results of the study show that companies face challenges in three main aspects: attracting, employing, and retaining Generation Z. In terms of attracting, the challenges are building a strong company image and positive reputation, as well as creating an efficient and digital recruitment process. In terms of employing, the challenges are conducting holistic skill assessments (covering both soft skills and hard skills), implementing an effective and engaging onboarding process, and managing Generation Z's expectations realistically. Meanwhile, to retain Generation Z, companies must address the high turnover rate by providing a positive work environment, clear career development opportunities, and competitive compensation and benefit packages. By implementing these strategies, companies can not only maximize the potential of Generation Z but also be better prepared to face the challenges and opportunities of an increasingly digital future of work.
