The widespread act of radicalism under the guise of Islam has placed Muslims as the accused. The discussion of jihad in Islamic teachings is often referred to as the primary source of violence. Likewise, pesantren (Islamic boarding school) is also accused of instilling radicalism. Therefore, it is urgently needed to provide an understanding of education in pesantren. Whether pesantren contribute to radicalism, or conversely, it has become a torch for moderation and respect for human rights. This research is carried out to describe the value of multicultural education and how it is taught in building the moderate-religious character at Baitul Arqom Islamic Boarding School Jember. A qualitative method with observation, interview, and documentation techniques of data collection is used for this research. The data analysis is a descriptive qualitative method, while the source and technique triangulation are shown for the validity of the data. Acculturation of al-adat and Islamic law is a means to determine the extent to which Islamic law and local custom come into contact with the life practices of the Mandailing Tribe community of Islam without any contradictions. This research is empirical research with descriptive analysis. Research data were collected using observation and interview methods, then analyzed using content analysis methods. The results of this study indicate a synergism of the Mandailing tribal community, which adheres to a patrilineal kinship system to carry out Islamic law in parallel and local customs. The practice of sharing inheritance in the Mandailing tribal community is carried out traditionally by containing Islamic values. This practice is a realization of the philosophy of the Mandailing tribal community as "Ombar do adat dot ugama" and "The Customary Country of Obedience to Worship" as a forum to unite the Islamic legal and the customary law system. The acculturation of Islamic law and customary law in sharing inheritance in the Mandailing community shows that Islamic law can be dialogued with the customs that live in the community while still realizing the values of justice and benefit. Inheritance practice that dialogues Islamic law and the customary law of the Mandailing tribe in the inheritance distribution process, making daughters as heirs, presenting religious and traditional leaders during the inheritance distribution process, while maintaining undivided assets in the form of heirloom houses and objects for the son (youngest).

Among scholars, there are differences of view regarding the use of ḥadīth ḍa‘īf. This difference in views has little effect on the religious views of Islamic organizations in Indonesia, including the Nahdlatul Ulama (NU). This paper aims to elaborate the view of the Nahdlatul Ulama Jember against the ḥadīth ḍa'īf, either related to law halal and haram, or about faḍā'il al-a'māl, targhīb, and tarhīb. By using the descriptive qualitative method, it was found that: (a) theoretically, NU Jember follows the views of jumhūr ‘ulamā’ who reject the use of ḥadīth ḍa'īf in the field of the law of halal and haram, but practically still tolerate ḥadīth ḍa'īf particular in the area of the law of halal and haram; (c) in the field of faḍā'il al-a'māl, targhīb, and tarhīb, Nahdlatul Ulama Jember allow argues with the ḥadīth ḍa'īf. What is meant by faḍā’il al-a‘māl in the view of the Nahdlatul Ulama Jember is deeds that are not obligatory (Fardhu), namely Sunnah worship, an expected worship reward by doing it.

This project involves discovering how da’wah Islam is moving, rejecting, and adapting in the society that produces traditional alcoholic drinking (ARJO/arak jowo) in Poncol-Kerek Village-Ngawi Regency. In the process of Islamic da'wah in Indonesia, especially Java, most of the auliya, ulama, and kyai run it with great patience, peace, and noble behavior, which then become the attraction of the community to follow it. The uniqueness of Islamic da'wah, characterized by politeness and morality in Indonesia, has become an exciting phenomenon that Muslims do not share in other regions, such as; the Middle East, India, Africa, etc. Furthermore, this research will explain in detail using historical and sociological analysis of the various challenges of da'wah in a village where the majority of the population is the producer of alcoholic drinks that are forbidden by the Islamic teaching. different rejection, acceptance, challenges faced by the kyai become a process of da'wah journey that is not easy. The existence of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers is expected to help form students who have high competitiveness while still practicing Islamic teachings. However, the irony is that the time allocation for Islamic religious education subjects in public schools is minimal, especially in Vocational High Schools (SMK), which incidentally focuses more on each vocational field and is supplemented by the Field Work Practice (PKL) program with a lot of time. That consciously requires Islamic religious education teachers to have effective and efficient classroom learning strategies, including organizing and managing so that the material being taught is conveyed correctly and optimally. This study aims to determine PAI teachers' effectiveness in planning, implementing, and evaluating them in class. This study used a qualitative method with a type of field research and used descriptive data analysis to validate the data using source and technique triangulation. This study's results indicate that the effectiveness of teacher performance in planning, implementing, and evaluating is the same as in general. After conducting the Teacher Performance Assessment, it turns out that in class implementation, several teacher competencies need to be improved, such as mastering material, structure, and concepts in class. So, the institution provides facilities to teachers to enhance their teaching performance further with the In-house Training (IHT) program.

One of the Islamic educational institutions, Salaf Pesantren had a significant impact on Indonesia’s advancement of science and moral education. It is appropriate ti investigate the renewal that these salaf pesantrens carry out in order to establish their existences. This salaf pesantren’s revitalization efforts are an attempt to meet the demands of a changing society. Therefore, the review in this paper examines the modernization and renewal of the salaf pesantren’s educational system through a case study of Hidayatut Thullab Pesantren, which was formerly known for its salaf education or classical but has since evolved into salaf education infused with contemporary ideas. The “paguon” or “pawiyatan system as well as renewal and modernization are discussed here from the perspectives of Ki Hadjar Dewantara, Fazlur Rahman, and the Philosophy of religious studies respectively. Hidayatut Thullab Islamic Boarding School has renewed and modernized its education system which is not only based on salaf education, namely non-formal education that focuses on dormitories but also transformed into more modern formal education, even up to the university level, coupled with other skills education as extracurricular education as a provision for the lives of its students.

One day before the sea alms event held by coastal residents around Pantai Baru, Bantul Regency, a group of mobs carried out an act of violence that destroyed property (ubo rampe) for the event. The mass group considers that the marine charity event, which coastal residents routinely carry out, is an activity of shirk. Research in this journal is normative juridical (legal research), which focuses on studying the principles or norms in positive law, especially legal instruments in the field of Human Rights, both nationally and internationally. This type of research is carried out by examining formal legal regulations such as laws and literature containing theoretical concepts, which are then linked to the issues raised in the journal, namely aspects of human rights violations. The actions of a group of mobs that prevent the community from carrying out the sea alms tradition violate human rights. The government can try to protect the people's human rights in a preventive and repressive manner.
