Abstract

The globalization of economies has ensured that precarious work is a fast-emerging feature of many contemporary labor markets. Precarious work is essential to study because it impinges on workers' rights, economic stability, and social welfare. While previous works researched the effects of precarious employment, they often needed to address these themes and their trends for an overall outlook of how precariousness seems to come together in discourse. This paper intends to fill the gap by systematically applying a new data visualization tool called VOS Viewer to review related literature. Specifically, the study tries to map the network of articles, key themes, prolific authors, and new trends, especially on precarious employment. The nature of the research was qualitative, and the available literature on the research trends in the world currently and their gaps were analyzed. Results indicate precarious employment with Covid-19, climate change, gender issues, poverty, and mental health. Moreover, in the Indonesian context, connections are drawn to commodification, COVID-19, and community resilience; this indicates significant gaps and points to ample avenues for further research. Precarious employment needs further in-depth exploration beyond the well-researched areas, especially in Indonesia, to grapple with the challenges posed by such an evolving employment landscape.

Abstract

Melasti Beach Ungasan has rapidly developed as a popular nature-based tourist destination in South Bali since its inception in 2018. As tourism grows, it becomes crucial to evaluate its development and identify sustainable management strategies. Previous studies on tourism development often focus on infrastructural growth or community involvement but rarely integrate both aspects using a systematic model. This research fills that gap by employing the Tourism Area Life Cycle (TALC) model to analyze the development stage of Melasti Beach Ungasan and assess its tourism characteristics, such as facilities, attractions, visitor trends, and local community involvement. A qualitative approach was used, with primary data gathered through field observations during the first field trip on October 11th, 2023, and secondary data from relevant literature. Descriptive-qualitative analysis reveals significant infrastructural improvements, such as the addition of parking facilities, beach clubs, and MSME kiosks. According to the TALC model, Melasti Beach is positioned between the “involvement” and “development” stages, characterized by increasing collaborations, seasonal tourism, and enhanced modern facilities. This research highlights the importance of protecting natural and socio-cultural assets while promoting active community engagement in tourism management. These factors are vital to ensuring the long-term sustainability of Melasti Beach Ungasan as a tourist destination.

Abstract

The surge in global oil prices and the consequent scarcity of oil have significantly impacted cooking oil prices in Indonesia, making it a critical issue for analysis. Previous studies have often overlooked governmental interventions' immediate and long-term effects on cooking oil prices, leaving a gap in understanding their comprehensive impact on traditional market economies. This article evaluates the Indonesian government's policy responses, including oil subsidies and export bans, to mitigate cooking oil price hikes and their effects on traditional markets. Field research was conducted at the Srijaya Sayur Traditional Market in Madiun City using qualitative methods. While the study provides valuable insights, it is important to acknowledge its limitations, such as the focus on a single market and the potential bias in the data gathered through interviews. The analysis revealed that the government's abrupt intervention caused market distortions, such as distribution issues and price inconsistencies. However, these issues diminished over time as oil stock levels increased and enforcement actions against illegal activities were strengthened. This study contributes new insights into the effectiveness of policy interventions and highlights the alignment with Ibn Taymiyah's principles of distribution justice. In conclusion, while the policies initially disrupted market stability, they ultimately stabilized prices and aligned with consumer purchasing power.

Abstract

Adolescents are a group that is vulnerable to experiencing various complex problems in various aspects of their lives. This research aims to explore the factors that influence adolescent problems and identify effective coping strategies. A qualitative approach was used in this research, with data collection techniques in the form of observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis. The research results show that adolescent problems cover various aspects, such as mental disorders, family conflicts, negative relationships, drug use, and the inability to manage emotions. Factors contributing to these problems include the social environment, individual factors, and media influence. In addition, this research shows that the da'wah program implemented by IKPP positively contributes to preventing juvenile delinquency through various activities such as lectures, religious studies, and skills training. Apart from that, this program also pays special attention to strengthening family harmony through education about the importance of good communication between family members, understanding religious values, and fostering the role of parents in educating children. This research reveals that integrating da'wah and strengthening family harmony is a practical approach to preventing juvenile delinquency. This research implies the crucial role of community organizations such as IKPP in positively contributing to efforts to prevent juvenile delinquency through a holistic and integrated approach.

Abstract

Population movement between islands in Indonesia is known as transmigration. Since the colonial era, this program has existed, even pioneered by the Dutch government for the first time with the aim of obtaining more colonial benefits. Currently, the transmigration program is growing rapidly in the eyes of the Indonesian government. Even the people themselves also volunteered to carry out transmigration in order to get better livelihoods in new areas. Not infrequently among these communities who experience difficulties during the beginning after the move. So that this transmigration community does not find work causes unemployment everywhere and makes the Indonesian economy decline. The purpose of this study is to analyze how to control unemployment in Merbau village through fair income distribution according to the perspective of the Islamic economy. This research is descriptive qualitative and collects information from interviews with local residents and describes this control from the perspective of Islamic economics. The result of this study is to describe the model of unemployment risk control in Merbau Village from a sharia economic perspective, namely the wage system. The wage / ujrah system is imposed in accordance with the agreement of both parties and gives satisfactory results to each other. And also maintain the old culture of the community to live in harmony between residents even though they are different.

Abstract

The Creative City concept is community-based sustainable development, social and cultural inclusion, strengthening local identity and supporting the development of insight and creativity. Probolinggo City directs the development of the Creative City concept. However, currently Probolinggo City has not been included in the cities listed in the Creative Word and has not conducted the PMK3I Test. This is interesting to conduct a depth study. This research is designed as a descriptive quantitative approach and supported by data processing with SEMPLS. The attitude variable has a negative influence on the development intention variable. The variables that influence intention positively and significantly in this study are subjective norms, behavioural control, and readiness to change. It can be concluded that there are two variables from the Theory of Planned Behaviour and Readiness to Change variables that have an influence on the intention to develop a creative city in Probolinggo City. In addition, there is one variable from TPB, namely the attitude variable that does not have a significant influence on the intention to develop a Creative City in Probolinggo City.

Abstract

Human rights in business involve the respect of employees, communities, and other stakeholders. Though these rights are guaranteed by international laws, however, there seems to be a gridlock concerning the implementation, and enforcement in the business environment. Hence, this study adopts a hybrid method of study concerning the challenges of implementation and enforcement of international laws as they concern human rights in business. 302 questionnaires were distributed to respondents residing in Uganda, the data obtained were analyzed through descriptive and analytical approaches. The study found that there are international laws that tend to provide for and regulate human rights in business. However, there are legal and socio-economic challenges concerning the implementation and enforcement of these laws. These in essence negate fair labor practices, and respect for cultural and indigenous rights in place of business. It was therefore concluded and recommended that for effective sustenance and protection of human rights in a business, there is a need for effective implementation and enforcement of those rights provided for by international laws.

Abstract

The phenomenon of K-Pop fandom activism, which has been considered as a mere fanaticism movement, has experienced a developmental orientation towards the fulfillment of common interests. K-Pop fandom activism is able to become a movement in social media that has an impact and brings public attention in voicing social changes. This paper focuses on analyzing the trends, forms, and real implications of social movements initiated by K-Pop fandoms with a high number of masses and militants. Using qualitative research utilizing online sources, this study found that K-Pop fandom activism has enlivened issues that are not only related to their community but have referred to global issues such as social, cultural, environmental and political. This activism is able to become a catalyst on social media in the form of real action rather than slacktivism. Real action is carried out by giving donations, filling out petitions to make demonstration efforts. This activism phenomenon has implications for changes not only in the issues raised but also has implications for changes in the stigma of society towards K-Pop fandom which tends to be more positive as a driver of social change. However, this paper is limited to the use of text data as the main source which cannot provide empirical conclusions. Therefore, future research should integrate the views and experiences of those directly involved in K-Pop fandom activism so that it is possible to formulate more comprehensive conclusions.

Abstract

This study aims to explore and evaluate studies that have addressed issues of democratic failure in the last two decades, 2004-2024. In addition to using bibliometric analysis, this study also uses VOSviewer application-based software in exploring and evaluating entity patterns, themes, and developments of studies that focus on discussing democratic failure in the last two decades, 2004-2024. From exploring 1063 total documents, this study found that the United States, the United Kingdom, and the Russian Federation are the most active in publishing studies focusing on democratic failure in Democratization Journal, Journal of Democracy, Political Quarterly, and Third World Quarterly. However, these studies have not been able to intervene and respond to the structural, cultural, and even spiritual challenges that underlie the difficulty of implementing a democratic political system in the era of globalization. This study also recommends the importance of future studies to analyze the factors and implications of the failure of democracy in concept and practice on the welfare of the people in a country.
