Abstract

Islamic Religious Education (PAI) faces global challenges due to the infiltration of foreign ideologies that contradict Indonesian moderation values. Generation Z, deeply immersed in technology, is vulnerable to extreme religious interpretations. Previous studies have discussed Islamic moderation, but remain limited in integrating wasathiyah values into pesantren curricula that are responsive to the characteristics of Generation Z. This study aims to develop and implement a wasathiyah-based PAI curriculum at Nurul Chotib Al-Qodiri 4 Islamic Boarding School in Jember, focusing on instilling values of moderation, tolerance, and religious balance. The research uses a descriptive qualitative method with a case study approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, involving participants such as caretakers, administrators, teachers, and students. Data analysis was conducted interactively through reduction, presentation, and verification, with validity tested through source and method triangulation. Results indicate that the wasathiyah curriculum enhances understanding of religious moderation, critical thinking skills, and students' inclusive attitudes. The integration of values in fiqh, creed, and moral education, along with pesantren cultural practices, effectively shapes adaptive religious character. The study concludes that the wasathiyah curriculum development is relevant for Generation Z and significantly contributes to creating a harmonious and tolerant society. Continuous evaluation is necessary to ensure the effectiveness of the curriculum. Pendidikan agama Islam (PAI) menghadapi tantangan global akibat infiltrasi ideologi asing yang bertentangan dengan nilai moderasi Indonesia. Generasi Z, yang lekat dengan teknologi, rentan terhadap pemahaman agama yang ekstrem. Penelitian terdahulu telah membahas moderasi Islam, namun masih terbatas pada integrasi nilai wasathiyah ke dalam kurikulum pesantren yang responsif terhadap karakter Generasi Z. Studi ini bertujuan mengembangkan dan mengimplementasikan kurikulum PAI berbasis wasathiyah di Pondok Pesantren Nurul Chotib Al-Qodiri 4 Jember, dengan fokus pada nilai moderasi, toleransi, dan keseimbangan beragama. Penelitian menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan pendekatan studi kasus. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi, dengan partisipan pengasuh, pengurus, ustad, dan santri. Analisis data dilakukan secara interaktif melalui reduksi, penyajian, dan verifikasi data, dengan uji keabsahan melalui triangulasi sumber dan metode. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kurikulum wasathiyah meningkatkan pemahaman moderasi beragama, kemampuan berpikir kritis, dan sikap inklusif santri. Integrasi nilai dalam pembelajaran fikih, akidah, dan akhlak serta pembiasaan kultur pesantren efektif membentuk karakter religius yang adaptif. Simpulan penelitian menyatakan bahwa pengembangan kurikulum wasathiyah relevan bagi Generasi Z dan berkontribusi signifikan terhadap terwujudnya masyarakat harmonis dan toleran. Evaluasi berkelanjutan diperlukan untuk memastikan keefektifan kurikulum.

Abstract

Branding in Islamic secondary education is crucial for institutional legitimacy, yet existing studies often focus on marketing tactics or isolated quality indicators, overlooking the deeper mechanisms that build a credible brand. This research addresses this gap by investigating how quality management drives authentic branding in two Indonesian Islamic schools with contrasting governance models: a state-run madrasah (MAN 1 Bojonegoro) and a private pesantren-based school (MAS Abu Dzarrin). Employing a qualitative multi-case design, data were collected through 24 semi-structured interviews, 120 hours of participant observation, and document analysis. Thematic analysis, assisted by NVivo, revealed a dynamic four-stage process: participatory strategic planning sets the direction; a deeply rooted quality culture embeds plans into daily routines; stakeholder satisfaction and trust amplify reputation through advocacy; and sustainability management protects achievements during periods of Leadership and market change. The study concludes that enduring branding is not a marketing veneer, but rather the organic outcome of consistently excellent practices that are embraced by the entire school community. It offers a replicable framework for faith-based institutions to achieve long-term legitimacy and trust. Branding di pendidikan menengah Islam sangat penting untuk legitimasi kelembagaan, namun studi yang ada seringkali berfokus pada taktik pemasaran atau indikator mutu yang terisolasi, mengabaikan mekanisme yang lebih dalam yang membangun merek yang kredibel. Penelitian ini mengatasi kesenjangan tersebut dengan menyelidiki bagaimana manajemen mutu mendorong branding yang otentik di dua sekolah Islam Indonesia dengan model tata kelola yang kontras: madrasah negeri (MAN 1 Bojonegoro) dan sekolah swasta berbasis pesantren (MAS Abu Dzarrin). Dengan menggunakan desain multi-kasus kualitatif, data dikumpulkan melalui 24 wawancara semi-terstruktur, 120 jam observasi partisipan, dan analisis dokumen. Analisis tematik, yang dibantu oleh NVivo, mengungkap proses dinamis empat tahap: perencanaan strategis partisipatif menetapkan arah; budaya mutu yang tertanam kuat mengintegrasikan rencana ke dalam rutinitas sehari-hari; kepuasan dan kepercayaan pemangku kepentingan memperkuat reputasi melalui advokasi; dan manajemen keberlanjutan melindungi capaian selama terjadi perubahan kepemimpinan dan pasar. Studi ini menyimpulkan bahwa branding yang berkelanjutan bukanlah lapisan pemasaran, melainkan hasil organik dari praktik-praktik unggul yang konsisten dan dijiwai oleh seluruh komunitas sekolah. Penelitian ini menawarkan kerangka kerja yang dapat direplikasi bagi lembaga berbasis agama untuk mencapai legitimasi dan kepercayaan jangka panjang.

Abstract

Pre-reading skills are a crucial foundation for early childhood literacy development; however, conventional teaching methods often lack multisensory engagement, which limits their effectiveness. While previous studies have acknowledged the importance of sensory experiences, a gap remains in empirical evidence that quantitatively demonstrates the impact of specific tactile media, such as Sandpaper Letters, on pre-reading abilities in children aged 5-6 within localized educational contexts. This study aims to analyze the effect of Sandpaper Letter media on the pre-reading skills of children in this age group. Using a quasi-experimental method with a pretest-posttest control group design, the research involved 30 children from a kindergarten. The experimental group received learning interventions using Sandpaper Letters, while the control group used conventional methods. Data were collected through pre-reading skill tests and analyzed using normality tests (Kolmogorov-Smirnov) and an independent t-test. The results showed a significant improvement in the experimental group's letter recognition, phonemic awareness, and simple word formation skills, with a t-count of 1.934 exceeding the t-table of 1.729. The study concludes that Sandpaper Letter media is a practical, multisensory-based tool for significantly enhancing the pre-reading skills of children aged 5-6 years, offering a valuable strategy for early childhood educators. Keterampilan pra-membaca merupakan fondasi krusial bagi perkembangan literasi anak usia dini, namun metode pengajaran konvensional seringkali kurang melibatkan multisensori, sehingga membatasi efektivitasnya. Meskipun studi-studi terdahulu telah mengakui pentingnya pengalaman sensorik, masih terdapat kesenjangan bukti empiris yang secara kuantitatif mendemonstrasikan dampak media taktil spesifik, seperti Sandpaper Letter, terhadap kemampuan pra-membaca anak usia 5-6 tahun dalam konteks pendidikan lokal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh media Sandpaper Letter terhadap keterampilan pra-membaca anak pada kelompok usia tersebut. Dengan menggunakan metode kuasi-eksperimen dengan desain pretest-posttest control group, penelitian melibatkan 30 anak dari satu taman kanak-kanak. Kelompok eksperimen menerima intervensi pembelajaran menggunakan Sandpaper Letter, sementara kelompok kontrol menggunakan metode konvensional. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes keterampilan pra-membaca dan dianalisis menggunakan uji normalitas (Kolmogorov-Smirnov) dan uji-t independen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan peningkatan yang signifikan pada kelompok eksperimen dalam hal pengenalan huruf, kesadaran fonemik, dan kemampuan menyusun kata sederhana, dengan nilai t-hitung 1,934 yang melebihi t-tabel 1,729. Studi ini menyimpulkan bahwa media Sandpaper Letter merupakan alat berbasis multisensori yang efektif untuk meningkatkan keterampilan pra-membaca anak usia 5-6 tahun secara signifikan, sehingga menawarkan strategi yang berharga bagi pendidik anak usia dini.

Abstract

The rapid expansion of Islamic finance has been criticized for prioritizing technical Shari’ah compliance over substantive ethical outcomes, resulting in a significant “Maqāṣid deficit.” While prior studies advocate for integrating Maqāṣid al-Sharīʿah and recognize the procedural value of traditional forums like Baḥth al-Masāʾil (BM), a detailed empirical examination of how BM explicitly applies Maqāṣid principles to modern financial products remains lacking. This study aims to fill this gap by investigating how BM operationalizes Maqāṣid—particularly ḥifẓ al-māl (protection of wealth) and ḥifẓ al-nafs (protection of well-being)—in its deliberations on contemporary Islamic finance. Employing a qualitative descriptive-analytical approach, this research collected primary data through interviews and observations of BM sessions in East Java, supplemented by document analysis of fatwās and scholarly texts. The findings reveal a paradigm shift: BM systematically moves beyond validating contractual forms (shurūṭ) to assessing socio-economic impacts, as evidenced in rulings on excessive murābaḥah penalties, exploitative Fintech P2P models, and adaptive agricultural muḍārabah. By synthesizing textual principles (ʿibārāt) with contextual realities (waqiʿ), BM transforms fiqh into a dynamic tool for ethical oversight. This study concludes that BM offers a replicable, bottom-up model for embedding Maqāṣid into financial governance, addressing the theory-practice divide and promoting substantive socio-economic justice in Islamic finance. Ekspansi cepat keuangan syariah telah dikritik karena lebih mengutamakan kepatuhan teknis Shari’ah dibanding hasil etis substantif, menciptakan “defisit Maqāṣid” yang signifikan. Meskipun studi terdahulu menganjurkan integrasi Maqāṣid al-Sharīʿah dan mengakui nilai prosedural forum tradisional seperti Baḥth al-Masāʾil (BM), pemeriksaan empiris rinci tentang bagaimana BM secara eksplisit menerapkan prinsip Maqāṣid pada produk keuangan modern masih kurang. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengisi celah tersebut dengan menyelidiki bagaimana BM mengoperasionalkan Maqāṣid—khususnya ḥifẓ al-māl (perlindungan harta) dan ḥifẓ al-nafs (perlindungan jiwa)—dalam deliberasinya tentang keuangan syariah kontemporer. Dengan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif-analitis, penelitian mengumpulkan data primer melalui wawancara dan observasi sidang BM di Jawa Timur, dilengkapi analisis dokumen fatwā dan teks keilmuan. Temuan mengungkap pergeseran paradigma: BM secara sistematis bergerak melampaui validasi bentuk kontrak (shurūṭ) ke penilaian dampak sosio-ekonomi, sebagaimana terbukti dalam putusan mengenai denda murābaḥah berlebihan, model Fintech P2P eksploitatif, dan muḍārabah pertanian adaptif. Dengan mensintesis prinsip tekstual (ʿibārāt) dan realitas kontekstual (waqiʿ), BM mengubah fiqh menjadi alat dinamis untuk pengawasan etis. Studi ini menyimpulkan bahwa BM menawarkan model bottom-up yang dapat direplikasi untuk menanamkan Maqāṣid ke dalam tata kelola keuangan, menjembatani kesenjangan teori-praktek dan mempromosikan keadilan sosio-ekonomi substantif dalam keuangan syariah.

Abstract

This study examines the social, cultural, and economic dynamics of communities in the East Java Horseshoe region, encompassing both valley and coastal areas. Previous research has rarely examined the interrelations among these communities, particularly in the context of globalization and modernization, underscoring the need for this study. The purpose of this research is to identify differences in lifestyle, interaction, and economic interdependence between agrarian, collective-based valley communities and coastal communities that are more receptive to modernization. Using a qualitative ethnographic approach, data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and analyzed descriptively and interpretively. The findings reveal fundamental differences: coastal communities demonstrate openness to modern technology, while valley communities preserve traditional values, and both are bound by reciprocal economic dependence in the trade of agricultural and marine products. These findings highlight the necessity of a valley–coastal synergy to support sustainable development. Practical recommendations include developing ecotourism grounded in local wisdom, providing cultural education for younger generations, and conserving the environment through prudent resource management. This research contributes strategically to local policy-making and serves as a reference for understanding community adaptation to global changes. Penelitian ini mengkaji dinamika sosial, budaya, dan ekonomi masyarakat di wilayah Tapalkuda Jawa Timur, yang mencakup kawasan lembah dan pesisir. Penelitian sebelumnya jarang mengkaji keterkaitan di antara masyarakat-masyarakat ini, terutama dalam konteks globalisasi dan modernisasi, sehingga menyoroti pentingnya penelitian ini. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi perbedaan dalam gaya hidup, interaksi, dan saling ketergantungan ekonomi antara komunitas lembah berbasis agraris dan kolektif dengan komunitas pesisir yang lebih terbuka terhadap modernisasi. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan etnografi kualitatif, data dikumpulkan melalui observasi partisipatif, wawancara mendalam, dan dokumentasi, serta dianalisis secara deskriptif dan interpretatif. Temuan-temuan tersebut mengungkap perbedaan mendasar: masyarakat pesisir menunjukkan keterbukaan terhadap teknologi modern, sementara masyarakat lembah mempertahankan nilai-nilai tradisional, dan keduanya terikat oleh ketergantungan ekonomi timbal balik dalam perdagangan produk pertanian dan hasil laut. Temuan-temuan ini menyoroti pentingnya sinergi antara lembah dan pesisir untuk mendukung pembangunan berkelanjutan. Rekomendasi praktis meliputi pengembangan ekowisata yang berakar pada kearifan lokal, penyediaan pendidikan budaya bagi generasi muda, serta pelestarian lingkungan melalui pengelolaan sumber daya yang bijaksana. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi strategis bagi pembentukan kebijakan lokal dan berfungsi sebagai acuan untuk memahami adaptasi masyarakat terhadap perubahan global.

Abstract

The growing use of digital formative assessment often overlooks cultural contexts, particularly in multicultural nations like Indonesia. Anchored in culturally responsive pedagogy, this study addresses the gap between global digital assessment tools and locally relevant educational practices. This study aims to examine students' experiences of integrating local wisdom into digital formative assessment through Wayground in Indonesian elementary schools. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, data were gathered via semi-structured interviews and classroom observations with students who consistently used Wayground for formative assessment activities integrating local wisdom. The data were thematically analyzed. Findings indicate that incorporating local wisdom promotes meaningful learning by linking academic content to students' daily experiences. Students reported heightened engagement and motivation, diminished assessment anxiety, and more favorable emotional responses when cultural contexts were recognizable. Culturally contextualized feedback supported reflection and deeper learning. Furthermore, integrating local wisdom strengthened identity affirmation and cultural pride, demonstrating that digital assessment can promote character development alongside cognitive growth. This study concludes that culturally integrated digital formative assessment enhances learning, engagement, and identity development. It is recommended that educators incorporate local wisdom into digital assessment design, that policymakers align digital assessment initiatives with cultural preservation, and that future research employ mixed-methods designs across diverse contexts. Penerapan asesmen formatif digital yang semakin berkembang sering mengabaikan konteks budaya, khususnya di negara multikultural seperti Indonesia. Berlandaskan pedagogi responsif budaya, penelitian ini mengatasi kesenjangan antara alat asesmen digital global dan praktik pendidikan yang relevan secara lokal. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji pengalaman siswa dalam mengintegrasikan kearifan lokal ke dalam asesmen formatif digital melalui Wayground di sekolah dasar Indonesia. Menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif fenomenologis, data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara semi-terstruktur dan observasi kelas terhadap siswa yang rutin menggunakan Wayground dalam asesmen formatif yang memuat kearifan lokal. Data dianalisis secara tematik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa integrasi kearifan lokal mendorong pembelajaran bermakna dengan mengaitkan materi akademik dengan pengalaman sehari-hari siswa. Siswa menunjukkan peningkatan keterlibatan dan motivasi, penurunan kecemasan, serta respons emosional positif ketika konteks budaya familiar. Umpan balik yang dikontekstualisasikan secara budaya mendukung refleksi dan pembelajaran mendalam. Selain itu, integrasi kearifan lokal memperkuat identitas dan kebanggaan budaya siswa. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa asesmen digital terintegrasi budaya meningkatkan pembelajaran, keterlibatan, dan pengembangan identitas. Direkomendasikan agar pendidik mengintegrasikan kearifan lokal dalam desain asesmen digital, pembuat kebijakan menyelaraskan asesmen digital dengan pelestarian budaya, dan penelitian selanjutnya menggunakan metode campuran di berbagai konteks.

Abstract

Flexing on social media is often reduced to narcissistic and consumptive self-display, obscuring its communicative, cultural, and ethical complexity. Existing studies largely rely on psychological and consumerist perspectives, with limited attention to flexing as an ethically contingent communicative practice embedded in cultural and religious frameworks. This study addresses this gap by reconstructing flexing through the integration of media ethics, local cultural values, and Islamic moral principles. Using a qualitative Narrative Literature Review (NLR), the study synthesizes interdisciplinary literature (2021–2025) sourced from major academic databases and search engines. Analysis was conducted through conceptual extraction, thematic clustering, interpretative comparison, and integrative reconstruction. The findings identify five forms of flexing (material, prestige, aesthetic, soft, and moral), three contextual factors shaping its evaluation (digital-ethical structures, cultural values, and religious media ethics), and cross-temporal continuity in status display practices. The study proposes ethical flexing as a context-sensitive form of digital self-presentation defined by authenticity, proportionality, and social responsibility. This framework shifts the discourse from moral labeling to negotiated ethical evaluation within digitally mediated visibility systems. Flexing di media sosial sering direduksi sebagai perilaku narsistik dan konsumtif, sehingga mengabaikan kompleksitas komunikatif, kultural, dan etisnya. Kajian sebelumnya didominasi pendekatan psikologis dan konsumerisme, sementara analisis sebagai praktik komunikatif yang bergantung pada konteks etika, budaya, dan agama masih terbatas. Penelitian ini merekonstruksi makna flexing melalui integrasi etika media, nilai budaya lokal, dan moral Islam. Dengan pendekatan kualitatif melalui Narrative Literature Review (NLR), studi ini mensintesis literatur interdisipliner (2021–2025) dari basis data akademik dan mesin pencari ilmiah. Analisis dilakukan melalui ekstraksi konsep, pengelompokan tematik, perbandingan interpretatif, dan rekonstruksi integratif. Hasil menunjukkan lima bentuk flexing (material, prestise, estetika, soft, dan moral), tiga faktor kontekstual (struktur etika digital, nilai budaya, dan etika media Islam), serta kesinambungan historis dalam praktik display status. Abstract

Despite extensive research on Arabic-speaking skills, the integration of local wisdom into structured, performance-based learning strategies in madrasahs remains underexplored. This study aims to describe the implementation of local wisdom-based maharah kalam strategies and analyze their impact on student achievement. A qualitative case study approach was employed, involving observations, interviews with program coordinators, teachers, and students, as well as document analysis at MTsN 3 Jombang. The findings reveal that integrating local wisdom through direct instruction, repetitive drills, and collaborative learning significantly enhances students' speaking proficiency in both formal and informal Arabic contexts, including khitobah, storytelling, news reading, and poetry recitation. Teacher competence and personalized mentoring further boosted student confidence. Thirteen district and provincial awards evidence these outcomes. The study concludes that local wisdom-based strategies not only improve linguistic competence but also foster measurable academic achievement, and recommends their adoption in similar madrasah contexts to create more contextually meaningful, competitive Arabic language learning environments. Meskipun penelitian tentang keterampilan berbicara bahasa Arab sudah banyak dilakukan, integrasi kearifan lokal ke dalam strategi pembelajaran berbasis kinerja yang terstruktur di madrasah masih jarang dieksplorasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan implementasi strategi pembelajaran maharah kalam berbasis kearifan lokal dan menganalisis dampaknya terhadap prestasi siswa. Pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain studi kasus digunakan, meliputi observasi, wawancara dengan koordinator program, guru, dan siswa, serta analisis dokumen di MTsN 3 Jombang. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa integrasi kearifan lokal melalui instruksi langsung, latihan berulang, dan pembelajaran kolaboratif secara signifikan meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara siswa dalam bahasa Arab formal dan informal, termasuk khitobah, bercerita, membaca berita, dan pembacaan puisi. Kompetensi guru dan bimbingan personal juga meningkatkan kepercayaan diri siswa. Hasil ini dibuktikan dengan perolehan tiga belas penghargaan tingkat kabupaten dan provinsi. Penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa strategi berbasis kearifan lokal tidak hanya meningkatkan kompetensi linguistik tetapi juga prestasi akademik terukur, serta merekomendasikan adopsinya di konteks madrasah serupa.

Abstract

The widespread circulation of illegal cigarettes in Indonesia causes significant economic, legal, and social losses, highlighting a persistent gap between strict excise regulations and weak field enforcement. This study aims to analyze the legal framework governing tobacco excise and examine the key factors that undermine law enforcement against illegal cigarettes. Using a normative legal method, the research analyzes secondary data from legal documents and the literature. The findings reveal that the regulation-enforcement gap is driven by limited supervisory capacity, the complexity of illegal distribution networks, persistently high market demand fueled by price disparities, poor interagency coordination, and inconsistent enforcement of sanctions. Consequently, the study concludes that strengthening law enforcement capacity, enhancing coordination among Customs, police, and local governments, using information technology for surveillance, and increasing public participation are essential strategies. The research recommends that future policies adopt a multidisciplinary approach that integrates legal, economic, and social dimensions and that further empirical studies be conducted to measure enforcement effectiveness more comprehensively, thereby ensuring more sustainable excise law enforcement in Indonesia. Peredaran rokok ilegal di Indonesia menimbulkan kerugian ekonomi, hukum, dan sosial yang signifikan, sekaligus menunjukkan kesenjangan persisten antara regulasi cukai yang ketat dan lemahnya penegakan hukum di lapangan. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis kerangka hukum cukai tembakau dan mengkaji faktor utama penyebab ketidakefektifan penegakan hukum terhadap rokok ilegal. Dengan metode hukum normatif melalui pendekatan perundang-undangan dan konseptual, penelitian ini menganalisis data sekunder dari dokumen hukum dan studi pustaka. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa kesenjangan regulasi dan penegakan hukum disebabkan oleh kapasitas pengawasan yang terbatas, kompleksitas jaringan distribusi ilegal, tingginya permintaan pasar akibat perbedaan harga, koordinasi antarlembaga yang lemah, serta penerapan sanksi yang tidak konsisten. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa penguatan kapasitas aparat penegak hukum, peningkatan koordinasi antara Bea Cukai, kepolisian, dan pemerintah daerah, pemanfaatan teknologi informasi untuk pengawasan, serta peningkatan partisipasi publik merupakan strategi esensial. Rekomendasi penelitian adalah bahwa kebijakan masa depan harus mengadopsi pendekatan multidisiplin yang mengintegrasikan aspek hukum, ekonomi, dan sosial, serta perlunya studi empiris lebih lanjut untuk mengukur efektivitas penegakan hukum secara komprehensif demi terwujudnya penegakan hukum cukai yang berkelanjutan di Indonesia.

Abstract

Modernization and the growing dominance of wage labor systems have eroded mutual aid practices in agrarian societies, yet existing studies often overlook the rational reasons for cultural preservation. Drawing on social exchange and social capital theories, this study addresses this gap by examining why the Jengkingan culture persists as a reciprocal agricultural practice. The research aims to analyze the resilience of Jengkingan and identify the factors that support or inhibit it. A qualitative case study approach was employed, using observation, interviews, and documentation, with data analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana interactive model. The findings reveal that Jengkingan survives because it is economically efficient and strengthens social solidarity through non-material social exchange and robust social capital. Supporting factors include kinship ties, trust, reciprocity, and local social conditions, while time constraints, shifting mindsets among youth, and minimal leadership roles act as inhibitors. The study concludes that Jengkingan can be integrated into modern life as a rational choice without losing its cultural essence, and recommends further research on its effectiveness in farming communities. Modernisasi dan dominasi sistem upah tenaga kerja telah menurunkan intensitas praktik gotong royong di masyarakat agraris, namun studi yang ada sering mengabaikan alasan rasional di balik pelestarian budaya tersebut. Menggunakan teori pertukaran sosial dan modal sosial, penelitian ini mengkaji mengapa budaya Jengkingan bertahan sebagai praktik pertanian berbasis timbal balik. Tujuannya untuk menganalisis ketahanan budaya Jengkingan serta faktor pendukung dan penghambatnya. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif studi kasus dengan observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi, dianalisis melalui model interaktif Miles, Huberman, dan Saldana. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Jengkingan bertahan karena dianggap efisien secara ekonomi dan memperkuat solidaritas sosial melalui pertukaran sosial non-material serta modal sosial yang kuat. Faktor pendukung meliputi ikatan kekerabatan, kepercayaan, timbal balik, dan kondisi sosial masyarakat, sementara faktor penghambatnya adalah keterbatasan waktu, pergeseran pola pikir generasi muda, serta minimnya peran tokoh masyarakat. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa budaya Jengkingan dapat diintegrasikan dalam kehidupan modern sebagai pilihan rasional tanpa menghilangkan esensi budayanya, dan merekomendasikan penelitian lebih lanjut mengenai efektivitas praktik budaya ini pada masyarakat petani.
