Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to examine the phenomenon of hoarding disorder as a form of imbalance in the relationship between humans and objects, analyze relevant Islamic values in shaping attitudes toward material possessions, and formulate a conceptual model within Islamic Religious Education that can reconstruct the human–object relationship in a more proportional manner. Design/methods– This study employs a qualitative approach using an interdisciplinary conceptual synthesis design, integrating literature from the fields of psychology, Islamic ethics, and education. Analysis was conducted through the stages of conceptual mapping, comparative analysis, integrative synthesis, and model construction.   Findings – The research findings indicate that hoarding disorder can be understood as a dysfunction in the construction of values regarding objects, which is associated with cognitive distortions and excessive emotional attachment. Based on these findings, this study proposes the Model of Reconstruction of Human–Object Relationships Based on Islamic Values, comprising three main dimensions: value reorientation, cognitive restructuring, and attachment regulation. This model serves as a conceptual framework in Islamic Religious Education to foster rational, proportional, and utility-oriented attitudes toward objects. The contribution of this study lies in the integration of psychological approaches and Islamic values within an educational context, as well as in the development of a conceptual model that can be utilized as a preventive approach in addressing the phenomenon of hoarding disorder.

Abstract

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to examine adaptive pedagogical strategies in aligning teaching styles with the digital media culture of Generation Z. The rapid development of digital technology has significantly transformed students’ learning behavior, communication patterns, and social interactions. Conventional teaching approaches are often considered less relevant to the characteristics of Generation Z, who are closely connected to digital media and interactive learning environments. Therefore, this study seeks to explore how adaptive pedagogical approaches can create more contextual, engaging, and meaningful learning experiences for Generation Z learners. Design/methods– This study employed a qualitative descriptive approach through library research. Data were collected from various academic sources, including books, journal articles, research reports, and relevant scientific publications discussing adaptive pedagogy, digital media culture, and Generation Z learning characteristics. The data were analyzed using content analysis techniques to identify patterns, concepts, and pedagogical strategies relevant to contemporary educational contexts Findings – The findings indicate that adaptive pedagogical strategies are essential in responding to the learning culture of Generation Z. Digital media has shaped students’ preferences toward interactive, visual, collaborative, and technology-based learning experiences. Consequently, educators are required to transform conventional teaching practices into more flexible and student-centered approaches. The study also found that the integration of digital media, interactive learning methods, and contextual communication can enhance student engagement and participation in learning processes.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the work-based project learning model in enhancing vocational students’ work competitiveness in the dimensions of technical skills, problem-solving ability, collaboration and communication, and self-directed learning. This study also examines how students’ involvement in work-based projects can strengthen their readiness to face industrial demands. Design/methods – This study used a quasi-experimental design with a mixed-methods approach through a pretest-posttest control group design. The research involved 180 vocational high school students in West Java, Indonesia, who were divided into an experimental group and a control group. The experimental group participated in work-based project learning for 16 weeks, while the control group received conventional instruction. Quantitative data were analyzed using ANCOVA to examine differences in learning outcomes between groups, while qualitative data were analyzed through thematic analysis of interviews, reflection journals, classroom observations, and project documents. Findings – The results show that students in the experimental group achieved significantly higher competency outcomes than those in the control group. The effect sizes were large for technical skills (d = 1.31), problem-solving (d = 1.25), collaboration and communication (d = 1.21), and self-directed learning (d = 1.28). A total of 85–87% of students in the experimental group reached the good or excellent category, while only 52–65% of students in the control group achieved the same level. In addition, this learning model encouraged students’ active engagement, increased self-confidence, and supported the formation of a clearer professional identity. These findings confirm that work-based project learning is effective in improving vocational students’ work competitiveness through authentic learning experiences, industry collaboration, and integrated competency development.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to explore forms of academic stress experienced by female student-santri and to analyze the dynamics of peer sharing as a coping strategy in an Islamic boarding school context that requires dual roles as university students and santri. This study is based on the limited research explaining the gradual emergence of coping processes, particularly the timing and emotional support function of peer relationships. Design/methods – This study employs a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design to understand participants’ subjective experiences. Informants were selected purposively, consisting of female student-santri as the main informants, supported by pesantren administrators and close peers. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation. The data were analyzed thematically using an interactive analysis model through data reduction, categorization, verification, and conclusion drawing. Findings – The findings show that academic stress emerges when academic and pesantren demands are perceived as exceeding individuals’ internal resources. In line with Lazarus and Folkman’s transactional theory of stress, stress occurs through primary appraisal and secondary appraisal before coping strategies are determined. Peer sharing does not appear as an initial response but emerges after independent coping efforts are perceived as less effective. This study identifies two conceptual contributions: relational coping bridge, which functions as an emotional bridge for restoring psychological balance, and delayed social coping activation, which explains the activation of social coping after internal coping becomes inadequate.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the contextual learning approach in Aqidah Akhlak learning to improve students’ conceptual understanding and moral behavior among tenth-grade students at Madrasah Aliyah Nurul Yaqin. The study is motivated by the dominance of conventional teaching methods, particularly lectures, which tend to emphasize theoretical understanding of moral values without optimal implementation in students’ daily lives. This condition can be seen in the low level of discipline, limited politeness, and weak sense of responsibility among students during the learning process. Design – This study employed a qualitative case study design involving teachers, the head of the madrasah, and students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation, and were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Findings – The findings indicate that the contextual learning approach has significant potential in reinforcing the internalization of Aqidah Akhlak values among students. However, the successful implementation of this approach depends on several supporting factors, including teachers’ pedagogical readiness, the availability of contextual learning resources, and continuous evaluation practices. This study enriches the discourse of Islamic education by emphasizing that contextual learning does not merely enhance students’ cognitive comprehension, but also encourages the formation of moral attitudes and behaviors that are relevant to contemporary social and digital challenges.

Abstract

Purpose – This research aimed to investigate the reinforcement of student character education amidst massive digital disruption, hypothesizing that an interdisciplinary model combining technological regulation, institutional rituals, and peer-led interventions significantly enhances moral resilience. Design/methods– The study employed a qualitative descriptive design conducted at a centralized boarding school in Indonesia, chosen for its integrated digital governance. Data collection procedures involved participant observation and in-depth interviews with students and educators, focusing on variables such as digital transparency, peer conformity, and behavioral habituation. Findings – Results indicated that implementing school-based applications for attendance and permits served as effective moral scaffolding, fostering honesty and accountability through transparent data tracking. Furthermore, periodic restrictions on gadget access were found to mitigate dopaminergic-driven distractions, allowing students to practice tangible time discipline and self-regulation. The findings also revealed that peer modeling and cooperative learning successfully transformed "herd mentality" into positive social imitation, significantly increasing student engagement in religious and academic rituals. These results imply that educational policies must transition from passive, conventional instruction to active, technological adaptations that align with adolescent neurobiological development. Future studies should consider longitudinal analysis to evaluate the long-term sustainability of these digital-moral habits. This paper includes 50 references and 12 tables, including interview protocols and technological monitoring instruments
