Abstract

This article examines the formulation of the concept of ummatan wasatan in the Qur’an through a maqāṣidī interpretation approach as a normative framework for interreligious tolerance. The study aims to (1) analyze the understanding of ummatan wasatan in the tradition of Qur’anic exegesis, (2) apply maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah as a methodological framework for interpreting the concept, and (3) formulate its relevance for strengthening religious tolerance in plural societies. This qualitative-normative research employs thematic and maqāṣidī interpretation methods by analyzing Qur’anic verses, classical and contemporary tafsir works, and maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah theories. The findings show that ummatan wasatan is not merely an identity marker or moderation slogan but a comprehensive ethical framework rooted in justice, balance, and moral responsibility. Through a maqāṣidī lens, the concept can be operationalized as a normative foundation for interreligious tolerance that emphasizes human dignity, social harmony, and public welfare. This study contributes theoretically and methodologically to Qur’anic studies and contemporary Islamic discourse on moderation and tolerance.

Abstract

This study analyzes the influence of front desk agents’ communication skills and aesthetic labor on guest satisfaction at five-star hotels in South Jakarta. The study is grounded in communication skills and aesthetic labor theories, which explain how communication competence and professional appearance of front desk staff affect guest satisfaction. Communication skills (verbal and nonverbal) and aesthetic labor (physical appearance, friendly expression, and alignment with the hotel’s image) are examined as factors influencing guest satisfaction in five-star hotels in South Jakarta. This research employs a quantitative approach through the distribution of questionnaires to guests who have interacted with front desk agents, complemented by direct field observations of communication practices and staff appearance. The study involved 276 respondents. Data analysis was conducted using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) based on Partial Least Squares (PLS). The results indicate that both variables have a positive and significant effect on guest satisfaction. These findings provide managerial recommendations to optimize communication training and enhance appearance standards in order to maintain service quality and align with the image of luxury hotels.

Abstract

In the era of rapid modernization, the education sector is required to continuously adapt to technological developments, particularly in addressing the learning characteristics of Alpha Generation students who are highly familiar with digital technology and games. This study aims to explore the use of gamification as a teaching strategy to support the learning process and enhance students’ critical thinking skills. The research employed a qualitative method by selecting participants who were directly involved in gamified learning activities. Data were collected through interviews and classroom observations using structured interview instruments and observation notes to obtain in-depth and meaningful information. The collected data were analyzed qualitatively to identify patterns related to student engagement and critical thinking development. The findings reveal that game-based learning, specifically through the use of the Undercover game, positively influences the teaching process by increasing student engagement, analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and decision-making skills. Students were actively involved in analyzing information, evaluating alternatives, and collaborating with peers during the learning activities. The discussion indicates that gamification aligns well with the learning preferences of Alpha Generation students and creates an interactive learning environment that supports higher-order thinking skills. In conclusion, gamification can be considered an effective instructional approach for fostering critical thinking skills and improving learning outcomes in contemporary educational contexts.

Abstract

Digital transformation has become a strategic agenda in the management of educational institutions, including madrasas, as an effort to improve the quality of educational services and learning. However, the implementation of digital transformation in Islamic education still faces various challenges, both in terms of human resource readiness and institutional system support. This study aims to analyze the implementation of digital transformation and its impact on the quality of educational services and learning at MTs YAPDI Medan. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with the madrasah principal, teachers, and education personnel, supported by observation and documentation studies. Data analysis was conducted using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results show that digital transformation at MTs YAPDI Medan has been implemented effectively in aspects of educational administration services through the use of digital systems such as EMIS, RKM, EDM, and digital payment services. This implementation has been proven to increase the efficiency, neatness, transparency, and reliability of administrative services. However, the impact of digital transformation on learning quality has not been optimal. The use of technology in learning remains limited, unequally distributed among teachers, and pedagogically unintegrated into learning planning, implementation, and evaluation. The conclusion of this study confirms that digital transformation in madrasas has had a greater impact on improving the quality of educational services than on the quality of learning. Therefore, strengthening digital transformation in the future needs to be directed at developing teachers' digital pedagogical competencies and providing ongoing system support so that technology truly contributes to improving the quality of learning.

Abstract

Quarter life crisis is a psychological condition commonly experienced by individuals in early adulthood and can influence career-related decisions, including increasing the tendency toward turnover intention. This study aims to examine the relationship between quarter life crisis and turnover intention among Generation Z fresh graduate employees in Semarang City. A quantitative approach with a correlational design was employed, involving 274 respondents aged 22–27 years, holding a Diploma or Bachelor’s degree, with 1–2 years of work experience, and residing in Semarang City. The instruments used were the Quarter Life Crisis Scale (QLCS) and the Expressed Turnover Intention Scale. The analysis revealed a positive and significant correlation between quarter life crisis and turnover intention, with a correlation coefficient of r = .563 (p < .05). These findings indicate that the higher the level of quarter life crisis, the higher the turnover intention. The implications of this study highlight the importance of addressing the psychological well-being of Generation Z fresh graduates to reduce turnover intention.

Abstract

                Fear of Missing Out is a psychological condition characterized by anxiety about missing valuable experiences or opportunities. This study aims to determine whether Fear of Missing Out is a significant predictor of psychological well-being among fresh graduate employees at Company X. The research employed a quantitative approach with a simple regression design and involved 63 participants selected through purposive sampling. The instruments used were the Workplace Fear of Missing Out Scale and Ryff’s Psychological Well-Being Scale. The results showed that Fear of Missing Out significantly predicted psychological well-being. These findings indicate the importance of managing Fear of Missing Out to support employees’ psychological well-being.

Abstract

Poverty not only leads to economic limitations but also affects individuals’ psychological well-being. Business capital assistance programs as a form of economic empowerment are expected to improve the overall quality of life of low-income communities. This study aims to describe the psychological well-being of low-income communities receiving business capital assistance from the G25 Indonesia Foundation based on Ryff’s Psychological Well-Being Model. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design involving two recipients of business capital assistance. Data were collected through observation and in-depth interviews and were analyzed using thematic analysis. The results indicate that business capital assistance contributes to improvements in the psychological well-being of the subjects across all six dimensions of Ryff’s model, namely autonomy, personal growth, environmental mastery, purpose in life, positive relations with others and self-acceptance. The subjects demonstrated increased economic independence, greater awareness of personal potential, enhanced social engagement, clearer life direction and more positive self-acceptance. This study concludes that business capital assistance not only impacts economic aspects but also strengthens the psychological well-being of low-income communities in a holistic manner.

Abstract

This study examines the dimension of socio-political criticism in Tafsir Al-Azhar by Buya Hamka with a focus on the value of justice as the central theme. The Tafsir of Al-Azhar is not only a monumental work in the Islamic scientific treasures in the archipelago, but also a reflection of the thinking of a scholar who is responsive to the socio-political dynamics of his time. Hamka, as a mufasir as well as a social activist, integrates the textual understanding of the Qur'an with the historical context and empirical reality of society, resulting in contextual and applicative interpretations. This study uses a qualitative method with a hermeneutical-critical approach to analyze how Hamka constructs the concept of socio-political justice through his interpretation of the verses of the Qur'an. The findings of the study show that Hamka's socio-political criticism in Tafsir Al-Azhar includes three main dimensions: first, criticism of the arbitrariness of rulers and abuse of power; second, advocacy for the rights of the oppressed and marginalized groups; and third, emphasis on the principles of deliberation and political participation as a mechanism for the realization of justice. Hamka emphasized that justice is a fundamental value in Islam that must be implemented concretely in the political system and social structure. The concept of justice in Tafsir Al-Azhar is not limited to the individual-spiritual dimension, but extends to the collective-structural level that includes economic distribution, legal equality, and political participation. This research makes a theoretical contribution to the study of Indonesian contextual interpretation and a practical contribution to the development of Islamic political ethics based on the Qur'an.

Abstract

This study aims to explore how Gen-Z Muslim students interpret, respond to, and assess digital da'wah they consume on social media and how it affects their morals in everyday life. This study uses a quantitative approach with a non-experimental design through a correlational survey method with Digital Da'wah on Social Media as the Independent variable and the Morals of Gen-Z Muslim Students as the dependent variable. The results show that the majority of respondents agree and strongly agree with all items in the digital da'wah variable, which illustrates that digital da'wah is considered relevant, interesting, easily accessible, and has a strong da'wah essence. In the morals variable, respondents also predominantly show the agree and strongly agree categories, which indicates that the morals of Gen Z Muslim students are in the good category. The results of the correlation test obtained a coefficient value of 0.652 which is included in the strong and positive relationship category, so it can be concluded that digital da'wah on social media has a strong relationship and a positive influence on the morals of Gen Z Muslim students

Abstract

The development of digital technology has encouraged the transformation of da’wah from conventional media to digital platforms, one of which is YouTube. YouTube functions not only as an entertainment medium but also as a strategic platform for delivering creative and innovative da’wah messages. This study aims to analyze the optimization of YouTube as a creative da’wah medium in the digital era. This research employs a qualitative approach using content analysis techniques on several Islamic da’wah YouTube channels. The results indicate that optimizing YouTube for creative da’wah can be achieved through attractive content packaging, communicative language, creative use of visual and audio elements, and consistency in conveying Islamic messages. Furthermore, understanding audience characteristics and YouTube’s algorithm plays a crucial role in enhancing the reach and effectiveness of da’wah. This study is expected to contribute academically and serve as a practical reference for preachers and da’wah content creators in developing relevant digital da’wah.
