Abstract

Early Childhood Education (ECE) serves as a crucial foundation in developing quality human resources, with the 0–6 year age range constituting a golden period of brain development. However, the reality in Indonesia reveals that the quality of ECE teachers remains suboptimal, with approximately 52% yet to meet minimum academic qualifications. This study aims to explore the relationship between reflective mentoring programs and the enhancement of ECE teacher professionalism, as well as its impact on the quality of early childhood interactions. Employing a qualitative approach through systematic literature review, data were gathered from empirical journals, books, and national and international research reports published within the last 5 years, and analyzed using content analysis and thematic synthesis. The findings indicate that reflective mentoring implemented through coaching, mentoring, and structured peer observation significantly enhances teachers' pedagogical competence, self-reflective capacity, and emotional responsiveness. This improvement in professionalism, in turn, demonstrably affects the quality of teacher-child interactions, characterized by greater warmth, increased child engagement, and consistent emotional support. Indonesia's Teacher Professional Education Program (PPG) is identified as having substantial institutional potential as a vehicle for reflective mentoring, although its implementation still requires strengthening to be more contextual and sustainable.

Abstract

'Urfi marriage is a practice of unofficial marriage that is recognized religiously but not recorded by the state. This phenomenon becomes a legal issue in various Muslim countries, including Egypt and Malaysia, which have different approaches. This article aims to compare the legal status of ‘Urfi marriage in Egypt and Malaysia, analyze its implications for the protection of women's and children's rights, and examine the legal proof consequences due to the lack of registration of such marriages. Using a normative-comparative legal research method with legislative and conceptual approaches, this study analyzes primary legal instruments from both countries as well as fiqh literature and relevant jurisprudence. Research results show that Egypt recognizes ‘Urfi marriages as legally valid in terms of religion but has required registration since 2000, whereas Malaysia does not legally recognize ‘Urfi marriages because they do not meet mandatory registration requirements. This difference has a significant impact on protecting wives' rights regarding alimony, children's identity, inheritance, and protection from domestic violence. This study concludes that the lack of registration in ‘Urfi marriages weakens the legal position of women and children, so there is a need to harmonize religious law and civil law to ensure substantive justice.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of ESG, liquidity, and capital structure on financial performance with company size as a moderating variable in healthcare sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange for the 2020-2024 period. This research is motivated by fluctuations in Return on Assets of healthcare sector companies post-pandemic and increasing attention to corporate sustainability practices. The study uses a quantitative approach with secondary data obtained from financial statements and sustainability reports of healthcare sector companies for the 2020-2024 period. Data analysis was conducted using panel data regression with the Fixed Effect Model (FEM) and Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA) with the help of EViews 13. The results show that ESG has a negative effect on Return on Assets, while the Current Ratio and Debt to Equity Ratio have a positive effect on Return on Assets. Simultaneously, ESG, Current Ratio, and Debt to Equity Ratio have a significant effect on Return on Assets. Company size is unable to moderate the effect of ESG, Current Ratio, or Debt to Equity Ratio on Return on Assets. These findings indicate that the financial performance of healthcare companies is more influenced by internal factors than by moderating factors.

Abstract

This study aims to examine and analyze the influence of the Request for Explanation of Data and/or Information (SP2DK), tax understanding, and tax morale on individual taxpayer compliance in the KPP Pratama Pamekasan and Bangkalan areas. This research is motivated by the persistent fluctuations in taxpayer compliance within Indonesia’s self-assessment system, seeking to test whether internal motivational factors play a more significant role than administrative enforcement mechanisms. This study employs a quantitative approach using a survey method by distributing questionnaires to 92 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data analysis was performed using multiple linear regression, preceded by validity, reliability, and classical assumption tests to ensure the robustness of the model. The results indicate that SP2DK does not have a significant influence on taxpayer compliance. In contrast, tax understanding and tax morale positively and significantly influence compliance behavior, with tax morale emerging as the most dominant predictor. These findings suggest that internal psychological drivers are more decisive than administrative supervision in improving voluntary tax compliance. This study provides an original contribution by demonstrating that, within the context of the Madura region, tax compliance is driven more by intrinsic motivation and educational awareness than by administrative enforcement. It emphasizes the importance of shifting tax policy toward behavioral and educational approaches to foster long-term voluntary compliance.

Abstract

Twenty-first century science learning requires students to develop conceptual understanding through scientific activities, but learning processes are still often focused on memorization, causing students to experience difficulties in connecting concepts with real phenomena. This study aimed to develop science student worksheets based on science process skills that are valid, practical, and effective in improving junior high school students’ conceptual understanding. This research used a Research and Development (R&D) method with the 4D development model consisting of define, design, develop, and disseminate stages. The research subjects were seventh-grade students of SMP Negeri 4 Simboro. Data were collected using expert validation sheets, practitioner assessment questionnaires, and conceptual understanding tests through pretest and posttest activities. Data analysis was conducted using Aiken’s V index, practicality percentage analysis, and N-Gain. The results showed that the developed worksheet achieved a very valid category based on content, presentation, language, and graphical aspects and achieved a very practical category based on practitioner responses. The effectiveness of the worksheet was demonstrated by an improvement in students’ conceptual understanding with an N-Gain score of 73%, categorized as effective. These findings indicate that science process skills-based worksheets can facilitate students in conducting scientific activities and independently constructing concepts. This study concludes that the developed worksheet is appropriate to be used as science learning material to improve junior high school students’ conceptual understanding.

Abstract

Communication and critical thinking skills are essential competencies in 21st-century learning, particularly in physics education, which requires analytical ability, scientific argumentation, and problem-solving skills. However, teacher-centered learning practices often limit students' involvement in constructing concepts and expressing ideas effectively. This study aimed to analyze the effect of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) on the communication and critical thinking skills of tenth-grade students at UPTD SMAN 1 Mamuju. This research employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design. The research sample consisted of 36 students in the experimental class and 35 students in the control class selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using communication skill tests, critical thinking tests, and learning implementation observation sheets, then analyzed using descriptive statistics, Independent Sample T-Test, and N-Gain analysis. The results showed that PBL improved students' communication skills with an N-Gain score of 0.40 and critical thinking skills with an N-Gain score of 0.52, both categorized as moderate improvement. Hypothesis testing showed a significant difference between the experimental and control classes with a significance value of 0.000. These findings indicate that problem-solving activities, discussions, and investigations in PBL encourage students' active participation in learning. In conclusion, PBL is an effective learning model for improving students' communication and critical thinking skills in physics learning.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of implementing a multi-method learning approach on students' physics learning interest and analytical skills. This quantitative research utilized an experimental design involving two sample groups of eleventh-grade students at UPTD SMA Negeri 1 Tapango. The experimental group (N = 30) was taught using the multi-method strategy, while the control group (N = 30) received a single-model approach (nonmulti-method). Data were gathered through analytical ability tests and learning interest questionnaires, which were then analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics (paired samples t-test) via SPSS software. The descriptive analysis revealed that post-treatment, the Multi-Method group achieved a remarkably high mean score of 94.30 for both learning interest and analytical ability, demonstrating strong data homogeneity (S = 4.15; S2 = 17.18). This outcome significantly surpassed the Non multi-method group, which only obtained a mean score of 80.43 with more heterogeneous data distribution (S = 5.18; S2 = 26.81). Furthermore, inferential testing via the paired samples t-test confirmed that the multi-method intervention exerted a highly substantial and statistically real acceleration effect (p < 0.001) on both dependent variables. The negative values in the mean differences for learning interest (-19.700) and analytical capacity (-31.500) robustly substantiate the massive score enhancement from pretest to posttest within the experimental class. Based on these findings, it is concluded that multi-method learning is empirically effective in boosting physics learning interest while simultaneously optimizing students' analytical skills compared to the conventional single approach.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of Fraud Hexagon elements on the potential for fraudulent financial reporting and to investigate the moderating role of firm size in food and beverage sub-sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during 2021–2024. This research employs a quantitative approach with a causal research design. The sample consists of 152 firm-year observations selected using purposive sampling. Fraudulent financial reporting is measured using the Beneish M-Score, while hypothesis testing is conducted through multiple linear regression and Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA). The results indicate that external pressure and ineffective monitoring have a positive and significant effect on the potential for fraudulent financial reporting. Conversely, change in auditor, change in director, and arrogance do not significantly affect the potential for fraudulent financial reporting. Collusion is found to have a significant negative effect on fraudulent financial reporting. Furthermore, firm size moderates the relationship between external pressure, arrogance, and collusion and the potential for fraudulent financial reporting, but does not moderate the effects of ineffective monitoring, change in auditor, and change in director. The findings highlight external pressure and ineffective monitoring as the primary factors that increase the risk of fraudulent financial reporting, while firm size influences the strength of several Fraud Hexagon relationships. This study contributes to the development of fraud detection literature and provides practical implications for strengthening corporate governance and fraud prevention efforts.
