Abstract

Community-based literacy programs have emerged as an important strategy to improve educational outcomes by engaging communities in supporting learners’ literacy development beyond formal schooling. This study aims to analyze the effect of community-based literacy programs on students’ learning motivation and academic performance. The research employs a quantitative approach using survey and academic performance data collected from participants involved in community literacy initiatives. The programs typically include reading clubs, community tutoring sessions, mobile libraries, and collaborative learning spaces designed to strengthen reading habits and provide academic assistance. The findings indicate that participation in community-based literacy programs significantly contributes to increased learning motivation among students. Learners involved in such programs demonstrate greater enthusiasm for reading, improved learning discipline, and stronger engagement in classroom activities. Furthermore, improved literacy skills positively influence academic achievement, particularly in language-related subjects and overall academic performance. The study also reveals that community participation, availability of learning resources, and supportive learning environments are crucial factors determining program success. However, challenges such as limited funding, inconsistent program management, and unequal access to literacy facilities remain obstacles in maximizing program outcomes. Strengthening partnerships between schools, communities, and local governments is essential to ensure program sustainability and broader impact. The study concludes that community-based literacy programs play a vital role in enhancing students’ motivation and academic achievement by creating supportive learning ecosystems beyond school settings. Therefore, integrating community literacy initiatives into broader educational development policies is recommended to improve long-term learning outcomes and educational equity.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and formulate a model for strengthening village governance based on public accountability in realizing good governance. The main issues raised are the still low transparency, community participation, and accountability in financial management and public services at the village level, which has implications for low public trust in the village government. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study design in several villages that serve as the research locus. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and analysis of village financial planning and reporting documents. Data analysis was conducted interactively through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results show that strengthening village governance requires an integration between budget transparency, community participation in development planning, strengthening internal control systems, and optimizing the use of information technology in village public administration. In addition, the capacity of village officials in financial management and public services is a key factor in creating sustainable accountability. The resulting model emphasizes a collaborative approach between the village government, the Village Consultative Body, and the community through inclusive deliberation mechanisms and transparent financial reporting. The implications of this research provide conceptual contributions to the development of a public accountability-based village governance model as well as practical recommendations for local governments in strengthening village monitoring and development systems. Thus, strengthening public accountability-based governance becomes a strategic strategy in realizing the principles of good governance at the village government level.

Abstract

This study examines the role of legal awareness and community empowerment in enhancing access to justice within marginalized communities. Grounded in the perspectives of Legal Studies and Sociolegal Studies, the research explores how individuals’ understanding of legal rights and their capacity for collective action influence their ability to seek and obtain justice. The study aims to analyze the extent to which legal awareness contributes to empowerment processes and to identify structural and cultural barriers that hinder equitable access to justice. This research employs a qualitative approach using in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, and document analysis to capture the lived experiences of community members, legal aid providers, and local stakeholders. Data were analyzed through thematic analysis to identify recurring patterns related to legal knowledge, empowerment strategies, and institutional responsiveness. The findings reveal that increased legal awareness significantly enhances individuals’ confidence and willingness to engage with formal legal mechanisms. Moreover, community empowerment initiatives, such as legal education programs and grassroots advocacy, play a crucial role in bridging the gap between formal legal systems and vulnerable populations. However, the study also identifies persistent challenges, including limited institutional capacity, socio-economic inequalities, and cultural perceptions that discourage legal engagement. The research concludes that strengthening access to justice requires an integrated approach that combines legal literacy, participatory empowerment, and institutional reform. This study contributes to the development of more inclusive legal frameworks by emphasizing the importance of community-based strategies in achieving substantive justice.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technology has transformed financial management practices across business sectors, including Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Nevertheless, many MSME actors continue to encounter challenges in maintaining systematic financial records and developing adequate financial management competencies due to limited accounting knowledge, low digital literacy, and the continued use of manual bookkeeping practices. This study aims to explore how the digitalization of bookkeeping contributes to strengthening the financial management competencies of MSME actors and to identify the opportunities and challenges associated with its implementation. A qualitative research design employing a descriptive case study approach was adopted. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observations, and document analysis involving MSME owners, business mentors, and representatives from relevant government agencies. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis through the processes of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while data credibility was ensured through source triangulation, member checking, and peer debriefing. The findings reveal that bookkeeping digitalization significantly enhances the financial management competencies of MSME actors by improving the accuracy of financial recording, facilitating real-time financial monitoring, strengthening budgeting and cash flow management, and supporting evidence-based business decision-making. Furthermore, digital bookkeeping promotes greater financial discipline, accountability, and transparency, enabling MSMEs to improve business sustainability and expand access to external financing. However, successful implementation remains constrained by disparities in digital literacy, technological infrastructure, financial resources, and continuous technical assistance. This study contributes to the growing literature on digital transformation and MSME financial capability by providing an in-depth understanding of the mechanisms through which digital bookkeeping fosters financial competency development. The findings offer practical implications for policymakers, financial institutions, and MSME development agencies in designing inclusive digital financial literacy programs and sustainable capacity-building initiatives that accelerate MSME digital transformation.

Abstract

Public legal awareness plays a fundamental role in promoting legal compliance, strengthening the rule of law, and fostering responsible civic participation. However, limited legal literacy remains a significant challenge, contributing to low levels of legal understanding, inadequate recognition of citizens' rights and obligations, and persistent non-compliance with legal regulations. This study aims to explore how a Legal Literacy Program enhances public legal awareness and encourages legal compliance within the community. The research employed a qualitative approach using a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observations, focus group discussions, and document analysis involving community members, legal practitioners, local government representatives, and program facilitators. The collected data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, including data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing, while data credibility was ensured through source triangulation, member checking, and prolonged engagement. The findings reveal that the Legal Literacy Program significantly improved participants' understanding of legal rights, obligations, and available legal remedies. The program also fostered positive changes in legal attitudes by encouraging respect for legal norms, increasing trust in formal legal institutions, and reducing reliance on informal dispute resolution practices that conflicted with statutory law. Furthermore, the participatory and context-based learning approach enabled participants to relate legal knowledge to everyday social issues, thereby strengthening legal awareness and voluntary legal compliance. The study concludes that legal literacy constitutes an effective community empowerment strategy for cultivating sustainable legal consciousness and promoting a culture of legal compliance. These findings provide practical implications for policymakers, educational institutions, and legal aid organizations in developing inclusive and community-oriented legal education programs to strengthen public access to justice and reinforce the implementation of the rule of law.
