Jurnal PEMBAHAS (Pembelajaran Bahasa dan Sastra) [p-ISSN 2809-5367][e-ISSN: 2809-6355] has the aim to develop and disseminate science and technology through scientific articles on the results of research and study of concepts or theories in an effort to enrich the scientific realm in the field of language and literature teaching. Abstract

This study aims to develop argumentative text teaching materials based on the Kialo Edu application for grade XI students of MAN 2 Deli Serdang and analyze its feasibility and potential use in learning. The theoretical study emphasizes the importance of interactive and contextual digital teaching materials in accordance with the principles of the Independent Curriculum in improving students' critical thinking skills and argumentative literacy. The study used a qualitative approach with observation, interviews, literature studies, and documentation techniques. The results showed that Kialo Edu was able to facilitate the development of coherent arguments through visualization of the relationship between claims, supporting reasons, and rebuttals, thereby helping students understand argumentative logic more clearly. The developed teaching materials were declared appropriate based on the standards of material, content appropriateness, presentation, design, and graphics. In addition, the use of Kialo Edu increased student participation, the quality of argument revisions, collaborative skills, and courage in expressing opinions. Overall, Kialo Edu proved effective in supporting the learning of argumentative texts and was relevant to the demands of the Independent Curriculum which focuses on developing high-level reasoning skills.

Abstract

Procedure text is one of the narrative texts taught in grade 7 of junior high school (SMP/MTs) for both reading and writing aspects. On the other hand, the Canva application is one of the many applications frequently used in learning. This study aims to describe the effectiveness of the Canva application in learning procedural text writing skills. This study uses a quantitative descriptive method through a single-shot design, meaning that only one class is used as the object of research. This study was conducted in the odd semester of the 2025/2026 academic year at SMP Negeri 27 Medan. The population of this study were students of SMP Negeri 27 Medan who participated in procedural text writing skills learning using the Canva application. They were in one class with a total of 29 students. The sample was determined at 26 students based on a statistical formula. Sample members were selected by simple random selection without replacement from the population members. Data on learning outcomes of procedural text writing skills were collected using a test instrument designed using objective and systematic steps to meet the requirements of a valid test. A checklist was used to validate the scoring data and validate the results of the data analysis. Data on procedural text writing skills using the Canva application were analyzed using a paired sample t-test procedure. The results of the study show that the Canva application is effective for use in learning procedural text writing skills.

Abstract

The mental health crisis is a global phenomenon that continues to intensify alongside the growing complexity and pressures of modern life, particularly affecting young people, minority communities, and individuals from lower socio-economic backgrounds who often face limited access to holistic mental health services. Western psychological approaches, which tend to emphasize cognitive, behavioral, and individual aspects, are considered insufficient to fully address the spiritual dimension that plays a crucial role in shaping mental health, especially within religious societies. This study aims to examine the representation of the concept of tawakkal and its implications for inner tranquility in Syi’ir Jawi Budi Utami as part of the corpus of Nusantara Islamic literature, from the perspective of Islamic psychology. This research employs a qualitative approach through library research, using Syi’ir Jawi Budi Utami as the primary data source and secondary data derived from literature on Islamic psychology, Sufism, and relevant scholarly articles. Data analysis is conducted using content analysis, deepened through a hermeneutic approach to uncover the psychospiritual meaning of tawakkal. The findings indicate that the concept of tawakkal in Syi’ir Jawi Budi Utami is represented as a mechanism of soul purification (tazkiyat an-nafs) that balances human effort (ikhtiar) and surrender to God, thereby contributing to the formation of inner tranquility (thuma’ninah al-qalb). This concept has the potential to serve as an alternative spiritual approach in strengthening mental health based on the values of Nusantara Islam.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the form of resilience in the novel Dompet Ayah Sepatu Ibu by J.S. Khairen using Max Weber’s social action theory. Resilience is understood as an individual’s ability to accept, face, and transform life’s problems through a process of adaptation and positive change. In Max Weber’s perspective, social action is defined as behavior oriented towards specific goals, whether driven by individual or collective interests. This theory encompasses four main concepts, namely instrumental rationality, value rationality, traditional rationality, and affective rationality. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with a literary sociology approach. The data is sourced from the novel Dompet Ayah Sepatu Ibu (2023) in the form of quotations that represent the social action resilience of the characters in their efforts to break structural poverty. The data was collected through reading and note-taking techniques, then analyzed using objective hermeneutics. The results show that there are four types of resilience in Max Weber’s social actions, namely the resilience of instrumental rationality, the resilience of value rationality, the resilience of traditional actions, and the resilience of affective actions, which are causally interrelated. The conclusion of the study confirms that these four forms of action are the basis of the characters’ resilience in the novel.
