Abstract

White sugar is one of the beverage ingredients with the highest amount of consumption in Indonesia. This is based on drinking habits and processed foods that use granulated sugar. The large selection of brands and product attributes offered by the company gives people the option to buy white sugar products they want. Consumers have to make decisions in every purchase of white sugar products. This study aims to find out the characteristics of white sugar consumers in Surakarta City supermarkets, analyze the influence of brand awareness/associations, perception of quality, and brand loyalty to brand equity in white sugar consumers in Surakarta City supermarkets, and analyze the influence of brand equity and product attributes on purchasing decisions in white sugar consumers in Surakarta City supermarkets. This research used descriptive method of analytics with a non-probability sampling method using 150 respondents. The method of data collection using interview method with questionnaire. Data analysis using structural equation modeling (SEM) methods with SmartPLS 3.3.3 software. The results showed that white sugar consumers in Surakarta City supermarkets were dominated by 17-30 years old, female gender, undergraduate education level, income of Rp1,500,001.00-Rp3,000,000.00 per month, family members 4 people, the amount of consumption 1.1-5 kg per month, with the gulaku white sugar brand. A significant variable affecting brand equity in white sugar consumers in Surakarta supermarkets is the perception of quality and brand loyalty. The brand awareness variable does not have a significant influence.

Abstract

Knowing the comparative production and income of shallot farming between owner and cultivator farmers in Bonto Maccini Village, Sinoa District, Bantaeng Regency is the aim of this research. The research was carried out from June to August 2022. The sampling method was carried out by purposive sampling with 24 owner farmers and 24 sharecroppers. The data analysis used is the t test. The results of this study indicate that the average production of shallot farming by owner farmers is 8.819 Kg/Ha/MT with an income of Rp.181.951.589/Ha/MT. Compared to the average production of shallot farming, sharecroppers are 8.415 Kg/Ha/MT with an income of Rp.173.381.456/Ha/MT. With the results of the t test analysis, it turns out that the calculated t is greater than the t table. This means that the production and income of shallot farming by owner farmers is greater than the production and income of shallot farming by sharecroppers.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the level of technical, allocative and economic efficiency of farmers in Alang-Alang village towards rice farming, and to determine the factors that affect production efficiency. This research was conducted in Alang-Alang Village, Tragah District, Bangkalan Regency, the determination of this location was carried out purposively or intentionally. The number of respondents used in this study were 40 respondents using the Accidental Sampling technique. Analysis of the data used is in the form of an analysis of the stochastic frontier production function which is estimated by the maximum likelihood (MLE) method using the Frontier 4.1 program. Based on the results of the study, it can be shown that the level of technical efficiency of rice commodities in Alang-Alang Village, Tragah District, Bangkalan Regency is 0,73 (efficient enough), economic efficiency is 0,324 (not efficient), and allocative efficiency is 0,46 (not efficient). Factors or variables that significantly influence and have a positive value on rice production are labor. The source of technical inefficiency that has a significant and negative value is age. So that in maximizing rice production, farmers must increase the number of workers in their farming activities.

Abstract

Various problems in the agricultural sector include land conversion, climate change, water shortages, high input prices, and declining agricultural land productivity. Reduced production will affect farmers' income, which will impact the food security of farming households. The research aims to determine the proportion of food expenditure to total expenditure and assess the food security of farming households. The research location was chosen purposively, namely in Giriwoyo District, where most of the agricultural land is rain-fed. The sampling method used simple random sampling with a total of 30 farming households as respondents. Analysis of farmer household food security using cross-classification of food expenditure shares and energy adequacy levels. Energy and protein consumption levels were calculated using the 24-hour recall method. The research results explain that the average proportion of food expenditure to the total expenditure of farmer households is 55.61%, which shows that the level of farmer welfare is quite high. The food security conditions of rice farming households are based on levels, namely food security at 80%, food insecurity at 16.67%, and 3.30% of farming households are declared food deficient. To maintain or increase the food security of farming households, local food diversification is needed so that farming households do not only depend on rice as a source of carbohydrates. Counseling needs to be carried out to increase knowledge regarding the consumption of nutritious, diverse, balanced, and safe food.

Abstract

The agricultural sector, especially plantations, has entered the business world that considers profit in its activities. One of them is tobacco farming in Manisrenggo Sub-district, Klaten Regency. This study aims to determine the costs, revenues, income, and profits of tobacco farming, and what factors affect the profits of tobacco farming in Manisrenggo Sub-district, Klaten Regency. The method used in this research is descriptive analytical purposive location determination, and sampling using random sampling method. The data were analyzed by farming and multiple linear regression. The results showed that the average revenue from tobacco farming was IDR22,377,755.40 per planting period per ha, the total cost was IDR12,486,217.36 per planting period per ha, the income was IDR12,023,202.48 per planting period per ha, and the profit was IDR9,974,588.43 per planting period per ha. Factors that have a significant effect on the profits of tobacco farming are land area and production costs with positive coefficient values. The level of education has a negative and significant effect on the profits of tobacco farming.

Abstract

The vegetables cultivated by Aa818_Hydroponic are pesticide-free hydroponic vegetables. Aa818_Hydroponic markets 13 types of vegetables using the same method and strategy. The research aims to find out internal and external factors that are strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats for marketing, to find out alternatives and appropriate strategic priorities in marketing hydroponic vegetable products to Aa818_Hydroponic MSMEs. The research uses descriptive analytical methods with implementation techniques through observation and in-depth interviews. Key informants consisted of experts, practitioners, and consumers using questionnaires. The analysis method uses the SWOT and ANP matrices. The research results show that Aa818_Hydroponic has strengths, namely competitive vegetable prices, having a variety of vegetable products, free shipping promotions, long-lasting freshness levels, and vegetable products free from pesticides. Weaknesses include not having strong branding, packaging that is not attractive enough, the location of the plantation is not strategic, online promotion is not optimal, and human resources are limited. Opportunities include support from the government, many expo activities, fairs and exhibitions, good consumer perception of hydroponic vegetables, changes in healthy lifestyles, creation of opportunities for technological developments for marketing. The threats they have are that substitute product prices are cheaper, competitors' packaging is more attractive, competitors' marketing is more effective, and pest and disease attacks. SWOT analysis produces seven marketing strategies. ANP analysis produces the main strategic priority, namely participating in exhibition activities to promote existing advantages.

Abstract

Vegetables are one of the most important food sources in supporting a healthy body. The alternative to buy vegetabes is in agrotourism. Barro Tani Manunggal Agrotourism is one of tourism places that provides or sells vegetable commodities. In maintaining agrotourism, it is necessary to know consumer preferences for vegetable products. This study aimed to determine the characteristics of vegetable consumers and the influence factors of consumer preferences for vegetable purchasing decisions at Barro Tani Manunggal Agrotourism. The sampling technique used purposive sampling method. The number of respondents was 56 respondents with the criteria of more than one time bought vegetables in Barro Tani Manunggal Agrotourism. The data analysis methods are t-test, F-test, and coefficient determination. The results show that the average respondent who shopped for vegetable is in aged 15-64 years, most of whom have high schoo or equivalent education. Most of the respondents are entrepreneurs, and the average income of respondents in this study is IDR 2.000.001-3.000.000. The variables of service speed and product availability have a positive and significant effect on purchasing decisions for vegetables in Barro Tani Manunggal Agrotourism. The freshness variable has a negative and significant effect. While the variables of pricing, product quality, location, and convenience do not have a significant effect on vegetable purchasing decisions.

Abstract

The by-product of processing sugar cane into sugar is molasses. Molasses is used as an liquid organic fertilizer which is applied to corn in Janti Village, Papar District, Kediri Regency. In addition to the demand for molasses, the large area of corn causes an increase in the demand for labor outside the family to apply the fertilization process. This causes the business of providing molasses liquid organic fertilizer to be developed by adding fertilizing labor services. The request is an opportunity for molasses business owners so it needs to be equipped with an analysis of income calculations for future business development. The purpose of this study is to analyze the income of molasses business. The research location was determined purposively with the consideration that the location is the only distributor of molasses in the area. Based on the results of the analysis, it is found that the business is feasible to run. The R/C analysis shows the result of 5.27 which means that every one unit of cost incurred will generate the revenue. The results show that the business is feasible to be developed. Break Event Point (BEP) rupiah of molasses liquid organic fertilizer business can break even at the price of Rp 231.00 per liter with BEP production of 63,208.06 liters per season.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the types of product defects, production process control limits, leading problems, factors causing the main issues in the production process, and corrective actions on the main problems in Bakpia Wirda's production. The primary research method is quantitative and qualitative descriptive. The research location is Bakpia Wirda, a bakpia business located in Tasikmadu Sub-district, Karanganyar Regency. The data used in this research are primary and secondary. Data analysis used the statistical processing control method with analytical tools in the form of (1) examination sheet or checksheet, (2) P-chart control diagram, (3) Pareto diagram, and (4) cause and effect diagram. The data taken is bakpia production data for September-October 2021. The results showed that the types of defective bakpia found during the production process were charred bakpia, torn skin bakpia, deformed bakpia, and too hard bakpia. There is one point outside the control limit, namely the point on the 3rd day, outside the upper control limit (UCL). The types of product defects of burnt bakpia and torn skin bakpia are the most dominant problems because they contribute 79.84% of the total product defects. Proposed improvements to the burnt bakpia defect are installing a timer during the roasting process, routine maintenance on the internal components of the stove, and adding a layer of the metal plate under the pan. Meanwhile, the proposed improvement for the torn skin bakpia defect is to increase the number of production workers, expand the production site, and add ventilation holes.

Abstract

Trade competition in the era of globalization is getting tougher, but food processing businesses from both agricultural and animal raw materials still have a good chance to survive. Products that have good quality and food safety can compete in domestic and international markets. To maintain food safety, business owners can implement quality assurance systems such as HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point). HACCP needs to be implemented to further improve competitiveness and be able to run a business sustainably. The method used in this research is a systematic literature review. The result of this study is the application of HACCP is expected to improve quality and be able to increase sustainable competitiveness. Most of the chicken processing industry has implemented HACCP by the elements in the appropriate HACCP program. The application of HACCP ensures the quality of food quality and avoids health hazards in the final product. The implementation of HACCP requires continuous training and education on HACCP to ensure a more stable system is implemented and the need for the use of complete personal protective equipment (PPE) to maintain hygiene during the production process.
