Abstract

In the digital era, literature has transcended conventional print to include interactive, multimodal, and participatory storytelling formats. This change has engendered digital literature, a genre that increasingly converges with consumer culture. Despite the increasing ubiquity of narrative-driven content in digital contexts, the impact of digital literature on consumer behavior remains little examined. This study seeks to analyze the influence of digital literary narratives on customer attitudes, identity, trust, and decision-making. The study utilizes a critical review process to combine findings from peer-reviewed, Scopus-indexed journals in marketing, psychology, and digital humanities. The analysis identifies four principal themes: (1) narrative immersion amplifies emotional engagement and receptiveness to marketing messages; (2) digital literature functions as a symbolic resource for identity formation and lifestyle congruence; (3) narrative coherence and authenticity cultivate trust in digital content; and (4) literary narratives affect consumer decisions via both affective and cognitive processes. These findings indicate that digital literature is not simply a cultural artifact but a tactical medium for consumer persuasion. The research enhances interdisciplinary scholarship by merging literary theory with consumer behavior studies and provides actionable insights for marketers and content providers aiming to captivate consumers through narrative. Future study should empirically validate these conclusions through experimental and longitudinal methodologies.

Abstract

In an age where digital media profoundly influences early childhood experiences, the significance of animated cartoons in foreign language acquisition has attracted increased academic attention. Although formal instruction is fundamental to language education, informal, media-based exposure especially via cartoons presents a potentially potent yet underexamined pathway for language acquisition. This study rigorously analyzes 38 peer-reviewed, Scopus-indexed articles to investigate the acquisition of foreign languages by children through animated cartoons, emphasizing the psychological comfort and inherent nature of the learning process. The study utilizes a critical review methodology to synthesize empirical data from applied linguistics, educational psychology, and media studies. The investigation demonstrates that cartoons facilitate quantifiable improvements in vocabulary and phonological awareness, frequently without explicit teaching. Children interact with foreign-language material in a psychologically low-pressure setting, supported by elements such as visual redundancy, repetition, and emotional connections to characters. Contextual factors, including as age, frequency of exposure, and parental mediation, additionally influence learning outcomes. These findings highlight the efficacy of animated cartoons as supplementary resources in early language education, especially in environments with restricted formal instruction. The study enhances the existing literature promoting multimodal, emotionally supportive learning settings and provides practical implications for educators, parents, and policymakers aiming to utilize media for language development.

Abstract

Background of the problem: In Malaysia's fast-changing food and beverage (F&B) industry, good human resource strategies are very important for keeping business performance up even when there aren't enough workers and competition is getting stronger. Purpose: This study investigates the correlation between recruitment and selection practices, particularly internal and external methodologies, and organizational performance in food and beverage establishments situated in SS2, Kelana Jaya. Method: A quantitative methodology was employed to gather data from 175 employers via structured questionnaires. IBM SPSS Statistics version 27 was used for the analysis, which included descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, and multiple regression techniques. Result: The results show that both internal and external hiring and selection processes are strongly linked to how well a company does. Internal recruitment and selection proved to be the more robust predictor, exhibiting a standardized beta value of 0.421 and a significance level of 0.001. These results highlight the strategic significance of cultivating internal talent to improve operational efficiency and overall performance. Implication: The research enhances the human resource management literature by providing localized insights and recommends that food and beverage companies invest in organized internal mobility programs while preserving robust external recruitment channels to maximize performance.

Abstract

Climate change poses significant challenges to the agricultural sector, particularly in regions where farming practices are closely tied to environmental conditions. Farmers are increasingly required to adapt to unpredictable climatic shifts that threaten crop productivity, land quality, and food security. This study aims to explore the various strategies employed by farmers to adapt to climate change, as well as the factors influencing their adaptability. Using a qualitative literature review methodology, the study synthesizes findings from multiple sources to identify key behavioral, technological, and institutional components of adaptation. The analysis reveals that farmers’ adaptation strategies are shaped by their experience, knowledge, perceptions, access to technology, and support from government and community institutions. Adaptation occurs both physically, through changes in cropping patterns and infrastructure, and socially, through education, group activities, and policy interventions. However, limited access to training and resources continues to hinder effective adaptation in many contexts. The findings underscore the importance of integrated support systems and targeted policy measures to enhance farmers’ resilience to climate change. Strengthening adaptive capacity at the farm level is essential for safeguarding agricultural sustainability and ensuring food security in the face of environmental uncertainty.

Abstract

Colonial rule in the Indonesian archipelago not only restructured political and economic systems but also sought to reshape local cultural values and modes of expression. Within this context, traditional literary forms played an important role in preserving cultural identity and articulating responses to colonial domination. One such form is pantun, a Malay poetic genre that conveys meaning through metaphor, parallelism, and indirect expression. This study examines how the pantun High Power, Unformed Resistance represents power, resistance, and democratic imagination during the colonial period. The research aims to explore how culturally grounded notions of authority and opposition are articulated through poetic discourse, and how pantun functions as a medium of subtle resistance and ethical governance. The study adopts a qualitative interdisciplinary methodology that combines close textual analysis with perspectives from postcolonial theory and cultural studies. The pantun is analyzed as both a literary text and a socio cultural artifact situated within the historical experience of colonial Indonesia. The findings reveal that power is constructed as moral and cultural authority rather than coercive domination, while resistance emerges as indirect, adaptive, and sustained through cultural continuity. The pantun also encodes democratic values such as consensus, balance, and communal responsibility, reflecting indigenous conceptions of governance. These findings suggest that pantun should be understood not merely as folklore but as a significant site of political meaning. The study contributes to literary and postcolonial scholarship by demonstrating how traditional poetic forms participate in the negotiation of power and the imagination of culturally grounded democracy under colonial rule.

Abstract

Literary works produced during colonial periods often function as sites where language, ideology, and resistance intersect. In Indonesian literary history, the poetry of Chairil Anwar occupies a central position in articulating nationalist consciousness during the late colonial era. While existing scholarship has extensively discussed the thematic dimensions of Anwar’s poetry, comparatively limited attention has been given to how linguistic form itself contributes to the construction of resistance and nationalism. Addressing this gap, the present study aims to examine how stylistic features in Chairil Anwar’s patriotic poetry linguistically represent colonial resistance and national identity. The study adopts a qualitative stylistic research design. Data consists of selected patriotic poems by Chairil Anwar sourced from authoritative published collections. Using a stylistic framework informed by established models in literary linguistics, the analysis focuses on lexical choice, figurative language, and syntactic structure. Data were analyzed through systematic identification, close interpretation, and contextualization of linguistically salient features within the sociohistorical context of colonial Indonesia. The findings reveal that nationalism and resistance are constructed through dense resistance-oriented lexicon, symbolic imagery grounded in collective experience, and syntactic patterns emphasizing agency, urgency, and unity. These stylistic strategies work cohesively to embed ideological meaning within poetic form rather than presenting it explicitly. The study demonstrates that language functions as an active ideological resource in Anwar’s poetry. This research contributes to Indonesian literary studies by providing a linguistically grounded analysis of nationalist poetry and highlights the value of stylistics for examining non-Anglophone literary traditions within postcolonial scholarship.

Abstract

This study explores early first language development in toddlers, focusing on how children acquire semantic relations at the two-word stage. The purpose of the research is to examine this development through the lens of behaviorist theory and to investigate the influence of behavioral language input from family members, particularly mothers and siblings. The study involves four toddlers aged 24–28 months and compares two groups: children with no siblings and those with preschool-aged siblings. Data was collected over a three-month period through observation of the children’s utterances, with analysis focusing on Mean Length of Utterance (MLU) measured three times and the types of semantic relations produced. The results indicate that children exposed to richer behavioral language input, especially those with older siblings, tend to show greater development in MLU and a wider range of semantic relations. These findings suggest that interaction within the home environment plays a significant role in language development at the two-word stage. The study highlights the importance of providing consistent and meaningful language input to support early linguistic growth in young children.

Abstract

Sustainable heritage tourism increasingly depends on the capacity of local communities to act as effective cultural mediators, yet limited attention has been given to the role of foreign language competence as a mechanism of empowerment within heritage institutions. In many heritage destinations, tour guides are expected to communicate complex cultural meanings to international visitors, but insufficient linguistic resources may constrain their professional agency and the quality of heritage interpretation. This study aims to examine how foreign language capacity building functions as a form of community empowerment in a heritage tourism context, with specific reference to heritage tour guides at the Keraton Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat, Indonesia. The study adopted a qualitative case study design. Data was collected through systematic observations of training sessions and guided tours, reflective discussions with participating guides, and analysis of training materials and institutional documents. The data were analyzed thematically, guided by empowerment theory and communicative competence theory. The findings indicate that foreign language training enhanced guides’ communicative confidence, interpretive depth, and intercultural awareness. Participants demonstrated greater flexibility in responding to visitor inquiries, improved narrative coherence in explaining cultural and historical meanings, and stronger perceptions of professional legitimacy as cultural representatives. While the training primarily supported psychological and social dimensions of empowerment, it contributed indirectly to cultural sustainability by strengthening heritage mediation practices. These findings suggest that foreign language capacity building has significant implications for sustainable heritage tourism and the operationalization of Sustainable Development Goal 11. Integrating language training into heritage management and community development initiatives can support more inclusive, high quality, and culturally grounded tourism practices.
