Abstract

Abstract

The growing prevalence of sedentary lifestyles, particularly in urban populations, combined with the widespread consumption of unhealthy foods, has contributed to increasing rates of overweight and obesity (adiposity). These conditions induce pathophysiological disturbances in adipose tissue, which functions as an endocrine organ, thereby leading to metabolic syndrome. Atherogenic dyslipidemia plays a significant role in the progression of atherosclerosis, ultimately increasing the risk of cardiovascular diseases. Furthermore, inflammatory mediators released by dysfunctional adipocytes are associated with the development of certain types of cancer. This review highlights the role of obesity and adipose tissue as fundamental components in the emergence of metabolic syndrome, aiming to strengthen scientific understanding and encourage further research to develop effective strategies for the prevention and management of complex metabolic disorders

Abstract

Hot flush is one of the common vasomotor symptoms experienced by women during pre-menopause due to decreased estrogen levels. Soy milk contains phytoestrogens (isoflavones) that act similarly to estrogen and are believed to reduce hot flush symptoms. This study aimed to determine the effect of soy milk consumption on reducing hot flush among pre-menopause women in Siumbut New Village in 2025. This was a quantitative study using a one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of 30 pre-menopause women selected by purposive sampling. The intervention was the daily consumption of soy milk (1 glass per night) for 14 consecutive days. Data were collected using observation sheets and analyzed with the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. Before the intervention, most respondents experienced severe (43.3%) and very severe (56.7%) hot flush symptoms. After the intervention, 60% of respondents reported no hot flush and 40% reported mild symptoms. The Wilcoxon test showed a significant difference (Z = -4.855, p = 0.000; p < 0.05), indicating that soy milk consumption effectively reduced hot flush symptoms. Conclusion: Soy milk consumption has a significant effect in reducing hot flush among pre-menopause women. It may be considered a safe and natural non-pharmacological alternative for managing menopause symptoms.

Abstract

Anemia is a condition with lower than normal hemoglobin and erythrocyte levels (Masrizal, 2007). Factors influencing the incidence of anemia in adolescent girls. This type of research is an analytical survey using a cross-sectional design. The population in this study were all pregnant women at Hadi Husada Hospital. The sampling technique used was total sampling of 33 people. The data collection tool was a questionnaire. The results of the study showed that the statistical test results obtained a p value = 0.001 or an α value <0.05 which can be concluded that there is a significant influence between female students' knowledge on the incidence of anemia, the statistical test obtained a p value = 0.003 or an α value <0.05 which can be concluded that there is a significant influence between female students' activities on the incidence of anemia, the statistical test obtained a p value = 0.000 or an α value <0.05 which canbe concluded that there is a significant influence between the length of menstruation on the incidence of anemia, the statistical test obtained a p value = 0.000 or an α value <0.05 which can be concluded that there is a significant influence between nutritional status on the incidence of anemia. It is hoped that young women should be able to know about health, especially about nutritional status on the incidence of anemia and it is hoped that further researchers will conduct research with more samples and different designs.
