Abstract

Procurement of events or what is commonly referred to as events is something that is very common at this time. Events have various purposes and also have various procurement scales. Some events are known to fail in their implementation and even cause riots. This can happen due to a lack of attention to event management. Event management will be easier to do by classifying events. The classification of events that are well known in the event business world are MICE events and non-MICE events. MICE events include meetings, incentive trips, conferences and exhibitions. Non-MICE events consist of festivals, sports tourism, celebrations and parties. Broadly speaking, event management consists of 5 stages, including: research, design, planning, coordination, and evaluation. However, each event characteristic has a different treatment of these 5 things. The purpose of this study is to examine the concept of events and efforts to avoid event failures due to a lack of understanding of events. The study used a descriptive qualitative method with a literature review approach in which a conceptual study was carried out regarding each event to find an appropriate formulation of the event concept for each class. This research results that the failure of an event can have a serious impact such as the occurrence of riots where one of them occurred in Indonesia, event failures can also raise their own fear of customer disappointment. Both MICE events and non-MICE events must pay attention to their characteristics and important points such as location, room, event concept, event protocol, participants, event scale and so on. It can be concluded that knowing the characteristics of an event can make it easier to develop event concepts and carry out event management both at the pre-event, during the event, and after the event.

Abstract

Genres-based text in the content area of writing has long been practiced, yet the theme's content sometimes does not match learners' needs—this research aimed at discovering the effectiveness of local content-based learning media in teaching English for the tourism class. The local content selected was local public figures to write an autobiography. This research applied for participatory action research taking place in one-class English for tourism. A total of fifteen course-takers for the three-month course were recruited, documenting how the idea of local content we proposed was used to teach tourism students' writing with the test as the instrument. The teaching content is restricted to two formulated indicators; comprehending text structure and language features, including using to be and pronoun. Findings indicate that local content effectively improved course takers' comprehension of the descriptive text structure and increased vocabulary. The majority of course-takers reflected a significant improvement to meet classical passing grades in the last teaching evaluation. The diagnostic test previously was under stipulated standardized-score. The course-takers successfully wrote narration using local public figures to apply" to be" in good sentences. Moreover, overlapping use of masculine and feminine was distinguished correctly and positioned in well-constructed narrative text.

Abstract

The growth of the world's human population demands greater energy fulfillment and the main energy source that has been used so far is fossil fuels. Nuclear energy produced in a nuclear reactor is used as a competitive contributor with other sources of electrical energy such as coal, oil, gas, water, and others. So that the contribution of energy from various aspects becomes something that must be taken as a mutually beneficial strategic partner in meeting future energy needs that are economical and environmentally friendly at both national and international levels. The result of this research is energy is a primary need in modern human life. Almost all aspects of life require energy as its prime mover. In the beginning, people used fossil energy to fulfill their needs. The limited amount of fossil energy on earth has resulted in many people competing to create renewable energy with the characteristics of low cost, high stability, and high efficiency. Energy savings are urgent to be done so that the nation can survive in the midst of a crisis like this. In addition, this is also a warning that excessive dependence on fossil energy sources or primary energy such as oil, coal and natural gas is not a good option. Modern energy sources include solar energy, nuclear energy, wind energy, hydro energy, geothermal energy, biomass energy, hydrogen fuel cell energy, and biofuel energy. So that in the development of nuclear energy, treaty rules are made and there is international law in it. This is done so that every country in developing its nuclear energy still maintains international peace and security.
