Abstract

This study examines the relationship between audit fee stickiness and audit quality to determine whether they mutually affect each other. Using panel data and fixed-effects as well as common-effects regression methods, the study evaluates how total assets, leverage, audit changes, and the Covid-19 pandemic influence both variables. This methodology was chosen for its ability to control for individual differences and handle panel data, allowing for a more accurate analysis of the relationship between audit fee rigidity and audit quality. The main findings show that total assets and audit changes have a significant positive effect on audit fee stickiness, while the Covid-19 pandemic does not significantly affect audit fee stickiness. Additionally, total assets and leverage have a significant positive impact on audit quality, whereas audit changes do not influence audit quality and the Covid-19 pandemic actually improves audit quality. Although audit fee stickiness contributes to the enhancement of audit quality, audit quality does not have a significant effect on audit fee stickiness, indicating that there is no reciprocal relationship between the two. The study suggests the need for adjustments in the audit fee setting mechanism to ensure that audit quality is maintained optimally without being influenced by fee rigidity.

Abstract

In the context of improving urban areas through clean water services, the provision and distribution of clean water systems are the primary focus of this research. The study aims to identify effective methods to enhance clean water services. Following the PRISMA guidelines for systematic reviews and meta-analyses, the study searched four major databases: Scholar, ResearchGate, Scopus, and Taylor & Francis Online. The search process used relevant keywords such as "clean water services" OR "water distribution systems," OR "water quality improvement" across each database. From 967 articles initially identified, four articles were selected after a rigorous selection process applying inclusion and exclusion criteria. Key findings highlight that the use of sensors to monitor water quality parameters such as pressure, flow, pH, chlorine, and turbidity; the application of the elitist nondominated sorting genetic algorithm (NSGA-II); and active community involvement with government support are effective in improving the quality and distribution of clean water. Further research is recommended to focus on developing more advanced sensor technologies, deeper studies on NSGA-II implementation, strategies to enhance community involvement, policy analyses that support these efforts, and collaborative models involving government, private sector, and communities. Thus, sustained efforts in this research are expected to significantly contribute to improving clean water services in various urban areas.

Abstract

In addition to academic achievement, social-emotional competence has been increasingly considered a fundamental predictor of success in various aspects of life, particularly in adolescents. However, social-emotional competence among adolescents is currently in declining trend. The current research aimed to investigate psychological factors influencing early adolescents' social-emotional competence. This research employed quantitative methods. After filling in informed consent, 380 junior high school students aged 12 and 14 years in Padang city, Indonesia was recruited through the cluster sampling technique. All participants completed three validated questionnaires, such as the Social and Emotional Competency Questionnaire, Prosocial Tendencies Measure, and Peer Acceptance Scale. Structural equation modelling (SEM) analysis showed that prosocial behaviour and peer acceptance had a significant influence on social-emotional competence among early adolescents. Further analysis also revealed that peer acceptance partially mediated the relationships between prosocial behaviour and social-emotional competence. Overall, this research model contributed 39.6% to explain the relationship between the studied variables. Therefore, these findings suggest that encouraging prosocial behaviours and being acknowledged by peers are established as two essential factors in promoting social-emotional competence among early adolescents.
