Abstract

This study aims to determine the practicality of the food security-oriented interactive learning media Wordwall in teaching procedure text to elementary school students. The study used the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE model (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) to test its practicality. The research subjects consisted of 22 third-grade students at SD Negeri 194 Gresik. Data were collected through teacher and student response questionnaires using a Likert scale to measure the clarity of the material, the practicality of the media, and its usefulness. The results of the analysis showed that the Wordwall media received a practicality rating of 90% from teachers and 87% from students, both of which fall into the “very practical” category. Analytically, these findings indicate that the developed media are not only suitable for use from a technical learning perspective but also effective in increasing teachers' and students' participation in procedure text material. The high level of positive feedback from teachers indicates that the media is easy to implement in the learning process without requiring complex technical adaptations, while students' feedback shows improved ease of understanding the material through an interactive approach. Thus, these results confirm that the food security-oriented Wordwall contributes as a learning medium that supports the integration of Sustainable Development Goal 2 (Zero Hunger). However, this study has limitations due to the relatively small sample size and a scope limited to practicality without quantitatively measuring effectiveness in improving learning outcomes. Therefore, future research is recommended to expand the sample size, test the effectiveness of the media, and evaluate its impact on student learning outcomes.

Abstract

Educational modernization has transformed societal orientations in selecting educational institutions for children, creating challenges for the sustainability of madrasah diniyah as non-formal Islamic educational institutions. Most previous studies have explained the existence of madrasah diniyah through institutional management, curriculum development, and character-building aspects. However, limited research has examined the sustainability of madrasah diniyah from a social control perspective that operates through community social constructions and the role of religious actors. This study aims to analyze the sustainability of Madrasah Diniyah Tarbiyatul Mubtadi-ien in Slumbung Village, Ngadiluwih District, Kediri Regency, through the mechanisms of social stigma internalization and religious elite solidarity. The study employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation and were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman. The findings reveal that the internalization of social stigma functions as a mechanism of social control that encourages families to continue enrolling their children in diniyah education because religious education is perceived as a moral standard and a marker of community religious identity. Furthermore, religious elite solidarity, manifested through the role of religious leaders, functions as a form of social capital that fosters collective awareness, mobilizes community participation, and strengthens the legitimacy of madrasah diniyah. These findings indicate that the sustainability of madrasah diniyah is determined not only by internal institutional factors but also by the operation of social control rooted in religious culture, expressed through social stigma and religious elite solidarity. This study contributes to the development of non-formal Islamic education research by offering a social control perspective as a framework for explaining the sustainability of religious educational institutions in the era of modernization.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the high prevalence of learning fatigue and mechanical rote memorization in conventional tahfidz programs, which often focus solely on phonetic recitation without conceptual understanding. This study aims to explore the implementation of the Semantic Memorization Method and contextual reinforcement based on Tafsir Al-Ibriz in supporting students' memory retention at the Tarbiyatussibyan Islamic Boarding School, Jepara. A descriptive qualitative method was employed, with data collected through observation, documentation, and in-depth interviews involving 15 students, the boarding school leader, and the tahfidz teacher as key informants. The findings indicate that the Semantic Memorization Method successfully shifts the memorization paradigm from a mechanical process to a meaningful learning experience. The use of Tafsir Al-Ibriz served as a contextual bridge, enabling students to comprehend verses within their cultural environment, thereby facilitating a faster memory recall process. Although a challenge in dividing focus between understanding meaning and maintaining tajweed accuracy was identified, the separation of specialized tajweed sessions effectively resolved this issue. The novelty of this study lies in integrating semantic understanding with local contextual reinforcement, providing a systematic tahfidz learning model that produces robust memory retention without compromising recitation quality.

Abstract

Differentiated learning is one of the approaches developed in the implementation of the Independent Curriculum to accommodate the diversity of students' abilities, interests, and learning needs. In the madrasah environment, the application of differentiated learning is important because students have different levels of learning readiness, especially in literacy skills. This study aims to analyze the implementation of differentiated learning based on mapping students' literacy skills in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Terpadu As Salam Ambon and then identify the obstacles faced by teachers in its implementation. The research approach used is qualitative, with a descriptive type of research. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation of selected classroom teachers using purposive sampling techniques. The results of the study show that the implementation of differentiated learning begins with a diagnostic assessment to map students' literacy skills in the categories of recognizing letters, reading syllables, reading fluently, and understanding the content of reading. The mapping results are used as the basis for classifying students and adjusting the content, processes, and learning products according to the learning needs of each student. The obstacles faced by teachers include limited time in preparing differentiated learning tools, the preparation of media and teaching materials that are in accordance with various levels of student ability, and the management of learning in heterogeneous classrooms. So that the efforts made are the need to improve teacher competence through training, the development of teachers' creativity in making learning media, school support in the provision of learning facilities, and the preparation of teaching materials that are in accordance with the needs and level of students' abilities.

Abstract

Low conceptual understanding of science among Indonesian elementary school students and the prevalence of unhealthy eating habits represent interrelated critical issues. This study was motivated by a research gap in the literature: ethnoscience studies on the digestive system remain limited to conceptual exploration or employ other cultural objects (herbal medicine, water ketupat), and no quantitative empirical evidence exists regarding the application of rujak cingur in its region of origin, Surabaya. This research aimed to examine the effect of rujak cingur-based ethnoscience learning on the conceptual understanding of the digestive system among fifth-grade students at SDN Kaliasin VII/286. A pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design was selected due to the limitation of having only one class population (n=23), rendering a control group unavailable, and the study's orientation as a preliminary investigation to test the intervention's potential. The findings revealed an increase in the average conceptual understanding scores from 44.83 (pretest) to 84.65 (posttest). The N-Gain analysis yielded a value of 0.72 (high category), with the mastery learning percentage rising substantially from 17.4% to 82.6%. The Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test produced a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant difference, with all 23 students (100%) demonstrating score improvements (Positive Ranks) and a Cohen's d effect size classified as very large (d > 1.8). These findings confirm that the implementation of rujak cingur-based ethnoscience significantly enhances the conceptual understanding of the digestive system among fifth-grade students. Theoretically, this study strengthens Ausubel's meaningful learning theory by demonstrating that concrete cultural objects can function as advance organizers, while simultaneously enriching the Culturally Responsive Teaching framework through quantitative empirical evidence. Practically, this learning model can be adopted by teachers as a contextual, affordable, and accessible alternative, supporting the preservation of local wisdom and implementing the Merdeka Curriculum through strengthening the Pancasila Student Profile dimensions of global diversity and sustainable lifestyles.

Abstract

The advancement of technology and educational transformation has significantly influenced Islamic Religious Education (IRE) learning. Previous studies have generally examined Islamic educational philosophy, IRE learning strategies, and educational technology separately, resulting in limited research that integrates these dimensions into a comprehensive conceptual framework. This study aims to analyze Islamic educational philosophy from a contemporary educational perspective, identify the characteristics of IRE learning, and formulate its implications for the development of IRE learning strategies. This study employed a qualitative literature review design. Data were collected through a systematic search of publications indexed in Google Scholar, Dimensions, and the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) from 2022 to 2026. Of the 33 articles identified, 27 met the inclusion and exclusion criteria and were analyzed using content analysis. The findings indicate that Islamic educational philosophy remains relevant as a foundation for education because it promotes holistic human development through the integration of tawhid, fitrah, akhlaq, and insan kamil values. Contemporary IRE learning is characterized by student-centered approaches, diverse learning resources, active learning strategies, the integration of Islamic values, and the use of technology as a learning support tool. The study reveals that IRE learning strategies should integrate the internalization of Islamic values, students’ potential development, and the appropriate use of educational technology. The novelty of this study lies in proposing a conceptual model of IRE learning that systematically integrates tawhid, fitrah development, character formation, and educational technology to support holistic, contextual, and insan kamil-oriented learning.

Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become an important driver of educational transformation in the Society 5.0 era. While previous studies have focused largely on teaching and learning, the role of AI in Islamic educational management remains relatively underexplored. In addition, few studies have integrated educational management, the human-centered orientation of Society 5.0, and Islamic ethical values within a single framework. This study examines the utilization of AI in Islamic educational management, explores its benefits and risks, and proposes an integrative model grounded in Islamic ethics. Using an integrative literature review and thematic content analysis, data were collected from academic databases, scholarly books, policy documents, and authoritative reports. The findings indicate that AI can support planning, organizing, actuating, and controlling/evaluating functions through academic data management, integrated information systems, digital services, personalized learning, and data-informed decision-making. However, challenges remain, including academic plagiarism, algorithmic bias, data privacy concerns, technological dependence, and unequal access. To address these issues, this study proposes the Islamic AI-Based Educational Management Framework, consisting of five components: Input, Process, Ethical Filter, Output, and Impact. The framework integrates educational management, Society 5.0 principles, and Islamic ethical values to support AI implementation that remains effective, ethical, human-centered, and aligned with the broader goals of Islamic education.

Abstract

The shift in educational paradigms has encouraged schools to implement the Independent Curriculum to create more flexible, student-centered learning and support competency and character building. However, most research still focuses on technical implementation aspects, thus not comprehensively examining its effectiveness on the quality of learning and strengthening student character at the senior high school level. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Independent Curriculum implementation in improving the quality of learning and strengthening student character at Paiton 1 Public High School. The study used a qualitative approach with a case study type. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation of informants selected using a purposive sampling technique, consisting of the principal, vice principal, teachers, and students. Data analysis used the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana model. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of the Independent Curriculum creates more flexible, participatory, and student-centered learning through differentiated learning, diagnostic assessment, formative assessment, and student-centered learning. The implementation of the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5) also contributes to strengthening student character. The novelty of this research lies in the analysis that integrates the quality of learning and strengthening of student character through the perspectives of various informants, thus providing a more comprehensive picture of the effectiveness of the implementation of the Independent Curriculum in senior high schools.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the practicality of an interactive e-module based on the Legend of Sarip Tambak Oso as a teaching material for the Indonesian language for sixth-grade elementary school students, specifically in the learning of the analysis of the intrinsic elements of fictional stories. The focus of the study lies on the level of practicality of the e-module’s use from the perspectives of both teachers and students. The novelty of this study lies in the integration of the local legend of Sarip Tambak Oso as content in the interactive e-module, which provides contextual learning based on local wisdom, a departure from typical e-modules that tend to use generic content. The method used was research and development (R&D) based on the ADDIE model. A limited practicality test was conducted with 1 teacher and 22 sixth-grade students at SDN Kalisampurno 1 using a four-point Likert scale questionnaire, and the data were analyzed using quantitative descriptive methods. The results showed a practicality level of 91.25% (teacher) and 87.9% (students), both falling into the “very practical” category. This indicates that the e-module is easy to use, engaging, and supports interactive learning. Furthermore, the inclusion of local legends has the potential to strengthen students’ understanding of local wisdom. Thus, this e-module demonstrated a very high level of practicality in the limited pilot test and can serve as an alternative contextual teaching material for Indonesian language instruction in elementary schools.
