Abstract

Parents' behavior in selecting snacks significantly influences children's snacking habits, which are positively associated with nutritional status. The nutritional status of school-age children is influenced by several factors, including their daily eating habits at home instilled by their parents and peer-snacking behavior in the school environment. This study investigated the relationship between parents' behavior in snack selection and the nutritional status of school-age children at SDN 4 Mojolangu. The research employed an analytical correlational design with 160 respondents comprising 80 parents and 80 students in grades 1-4. Additionally, weight and height measurements were taken for the students. Statistical analysis was conducted using the Sommers'D test. The results indicate a significant relationship between parents' behavior in snack selection and the nutritional status of school-age children. The analysis of the correlation between parental behavior and nutritional status (BMI-for-age) yielded a significance value of p=0.000 (r=1.000), indicating a strong positive correlation. Meanwhile, the correlation between nutritional status (Height-for-age) showed a significance value of p=0.000 (r=0.654), demonstrating a strong positive correlation.

Abstract

Indonesia still has a fairly high stunting prevalence rate of 24.4% which is still above the standard tolerated by WHO, which is below 20%. Meanwhile, in Central Java, the stunting rate reached 20.9% and based on family data, 43.05% of families were at risk of stunting. In the Bangungalih Health Center area, there were 3,437 toddlers and 471 toddlers experiencing stunting. Every day toddlers need balanced nutrition such as carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins and minerals, the nutritional intake is obtained from the food consumed by toddlers. According to the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia No. 14 of 2014, food management or food management is a series of activities starting from menu planning, planning food needs, budgeting, procurement of food ingredients, distribution, recording, reporting and evaluation. The purpose of this study was to identify the experiences of mothers under five in implementing meal plans for stunting. The research method used was an analytical survey by analyzing the experiences of mothers under five in implementing meal plans on the risk of stunting in the Bangungalih Health Center area. The population is mothers who have toddlers, with the sampling technique that is accidental sampling. The number of respondents was 20 people. The results of the study show that there is a link between financial planning and menu planning with the incidence of stunting. Abstract

Anemia is a disease characterized by lower levels of hemoglobin (Hb) and red blood cells (erythrocytes) than normal levels. In general, this disease is suffered by many people in the world, especially in developing countries and in lower middle economic groups. One of the non-pharmacological steps taken to prevent anemia and increase iron levels is to consume red spinach and beetroot juice. Red spinach contains calories, carbohydrates, protein, fat, protein, fat, vitamins (A, B1, E, C, and folate), and minerals (calcium, phosphorus, and iron). Apart from that, the iron content in red spinach is quite high compared to other vegetables. Meanwhile, beets contain vitamins, carbohydrates, protein and fat which are useful for body health. The aim of this research is to determine the effect of giving red spinach and beetroot juice on the prevention of anemia in adolescents at the Al-Azizi Islamic boarding school. This research uses a One Group Pretest Posttest design. The sample consisted of 30 people using total sampling technique. The research was conducted from July to August 2023. Test the research hypothesis using the Wilcoxon test. The Wilcoxon test results show a p value = 0.000 p value 0.005, which means there is an influence on hemoglobin levels before and after giving Red Spinach and Beetroot Juice. There was an average increase in hemoglobin levels before and after treatment of 2.04 ± 0.2 gr/dl. It was concluded that there was a significant difference in hemoglobin levels before and after consuming red spinach and beetroot juice at the al-Azizi boarding school..

Abstract

This study aims to describe the relationship between knowledge of balanced nutrition and reproductive health among adolescents and their engagement in risky behaviors. The research method used was a survey conducted with a randomly selected group of adolescents aged 15-19 years. The results indicated that most adolescents have limited knowledge of balanced nutrition and reproductive health. However, the findings also showed a positive relationship between knowledge of balanced nutrition and healthy eating behaviors, while a negative relationship was found between knowledge of balanced nutrition and risky behaviors such as the consumption of fast food and alcoholic beverages. Knowledge of reproductive health also proved to be significant, with adolescents possessing better knowledge being more likely to avoid risky reproductive health behaviors, such as unprotected sex. In conclusion, this study provides insights into the importance of knowledge about balanced nutrition and reproductive health in shaping adolescent behaviors and highlights the need to enhance their understanding through appropriate educational programs and interventions

Abstract

Stunting refers to a condition characterized by the failure of a toddler to achieve optimal growth and development, primarily attributable to sustained inadequate dietary intake leading to chronic energy deficiency. Consequently, children affected by stunting exhibit a diminished stature compared to their peers of the same age cohort. The primary objective of this study was to ascertain the potential correlation between maternal knowledge levels and attitudes concerning infant and child feeding practices amidst instances of stunted growth, specifically focusing on the context of Ngalang Village within the Gunungkidul region of Yogyakarta, Indonesia. This type of quantitative research uses a cross-sectional approach. The study encompassed the entire demographic of mothers with children aged 0 to 60 months exhibiting stunted growth within Ngalang Village, Gunungkidul, comprising 85 respondents. The sample was selected using a purposive sampling technique, using the Slovin formula, and a sample of 46 respondents was obtained.  Statistical analysis was conducted using the chi-square test and obtained a p-value of 0.504 (< 0.05). This study concludes that there is no significant influence between knowledge and maternal attitudes about stunting infant and child feeding (PMBA) in Ngalang Village, Gunungkidul, Yogyakarta. The next researcher should look at the factors of the living environment so that it can be known whether the environment in which they live affects attitudes.
