Abstract

The high maternal mortality rate (MMR) is a critical indicator of the health status of women, the Ministry of Health said the number of maternal deaths in Indonesia in 2012 reached 359 / 100,000 live births, this figure can be pressed by carrying out this research class aims to determine the factors that influence the participation of pregnant women in the class of pregnant women. This research is an analytical research using cross sectional study design. In this study each independent variable (Knowledge, support of husband and the role of health officer) dependent variable (maternal participation in pregnant mother's class) measured at the same time. Held in February at Pegambiran Puskesmas Padang City 2018. The The result of chi square test shows that there is a significant correlation between mother's knowledge with mother participation ρ = 0,020 with OR 2,6, there is no relationship between husband support with mother participation ρ = 0,114 with OR 0,3, and there is relation between health worker role with maternal participation with ρ = 0.020 with OR 5.0. It was concluded that the higher the knowledge, and the participation of the health worker the higher the participation of pregnant mother in pregnant mother class, so the maternal mortality rate can be suppressed, the researcher suggest that pregnant mother is more active in joining pregnant mother class, because the quality of the child is determined by the mother and family attention starting from within the womb.

Abstract

Schizophrenia is a chronic mental disorder that requires long-term treatment, where the family plays an important role in patient care. Limited knowledge and ability of families in caring for schizophrenia patients is often a factor that worsens the patient's condition. Family psychoeducation is expected to improve the family's ability to care for patients, so that it can help prevent relapse and improve the patient's quality of life. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the family psychoeducation program on improving the family's ability to care for schizophrenia patients, both in terms of knowledge, attitudes, and skills. This study used a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test approach. The sample consisted of 50 families caring for schizophrenia patients, who were selected purposively. The psychoeducation program was given for 4 sessions with materials on schizophrenia knowledge, medication management, recognizing signs of relapse, and communication skills and emotional support. Measurement of family ability was carried out before and after the intervention using a validated questionnaire. The results showed a significant increase in family ability after being given psychoeducation (p <0.05). The average family knowledge score increased from 60% to 85%, skills in handling patients increased from 55% to 80%, and positive attitudes towards schizophrenia patients also increased. Psychoeducation has been shown to be effective in improving family skills, especially in terms of medication management and recognizing signs of relapse. The family psychoeducation program is effective in improving family skills in caring for schizophrenia patients. With increased family knowledge, attitudes, and skills, it is hoped that schizophrenia patients can receive better care at home, which can ultimately help prevent relapse and improve the patient's quality of life. This program needs to be implemented sustainably as part of community interventions in mental health services.

Abstract

Based on data from the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2022, 200 million children did not reach their optimal developmental potential. One of the factors contributing to this growth hindrance is the low rate of exclusive breastfeeding for infants aged 0-6 months. The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between exclusive breastfeeding and the growth of head circumference and body length in infants aged 6-12 months. The type of research is quantitative analytical with a cross-sectional approach, involving a sample of 97 respondents aged 6-12 months. Data were collected using checklists and questionnaires, and statistical analysis was conducted using the chi-square test. The univariate analysis results were obtained from 97 respondents. Out of these, 65 babies (57.73%) received exclusive breastfeeding. Regarding the babies' length, 68 babies (70.10%) were of normal length, while 43 babies (44.32%) had a normal head circumference. The bivariate analysis revealed a significant relationship between exclusive breastfeeding and the growth of body length in babies aged 6-12 months, as indicated by a Chi-Square value with a p-value of 0.044, which is less than α = 0.05. However, there was no significant relationship between exclusive breastfeeding and head circumference in babies aged 6-12 months, as shown by a Chi-Square value with a p-value of 0.682, which is greater than α = 0.05. Exclusive breastfeeding is a crucial factor in the growth and development of infants into adulthood. Exclusive breastfeeding provides the necessary nutrition to support the baby's growth. It is important for mothers who have provided exclusive breastfeeding to continue paying attention to their baby's nutrition, especially regarding complementary foods, once the baby is older than 6 months.
