Abstract

Background: Around 11.7% of Indonesian adolescent girls experience irregular menstrual cycles. This can occur, among others, due to stress. Teenage students in boarding schools experience stress due to more stressors than general students, such as the difficulty of adapting to the environment and the density of activities while living. Stress can affect the menstrual cycle because it can interfere with the production of estrogen and progesterone. The purpose was conducted to determine the relationship between stress and menstrual cycle disorders in students of class X in Pesantren. Method: This study used a quantitative correlative analytic design with a cross sectional approach through a primary data survey. Data were generated from the distribution of the PSS-10 questionnaire and the menstrual cycle disorder questionnaire. The population and sample were 96 students and the sample was determined using total sampling. Results: The results showed that 16 (24.6%) experienced severe stress, 44 (67.7%) experienced moderate stress, and 5 (41.9%) experienced mild stress accompanied by menstrual cycle disorders. Conclusion: Data analysis using correlation test showed that stress was associated with menstrual cycle disorders with a value of p=0.000 (α = 5%). Therefore, it is recommended that the collaborate to conduct screening and provide information related to stress and menstruation to santri

Abstract

Background: Lack of physical activity is a risk factor for various chronic diseases that must be prevented with health promotion interventions. In designing targeted interventions, it is necessary to study health determinants that can increase the success of an intervention. In the adolescent age group, one of the determinants of physical activity is social support from peers, which impacts increasing physical activity. This study aims to determine the relationship between peer support and physical activity among adolescents at Public Islamic High School in Aceh Besar. Method: The research method used is a correlative with a cross-sectional approach. One hundred nine respondents were involved in this study and selected by a simple random sampling technique. Data was collected using the Social Support for Exercise Scale and Physical Activity Questionnaire-Adolescents (PAQ-A) and analyzed using the Chi-Square test. Results: The data analysis results show a significant relationship between peer support and adolescents' physical activity at Public Islamic High School in Aceh Besar (p-value 0.002). This research shows that if teenagers have good social support from their peers, they can increase their physical activity. Conclusion: For this reason, it is recommended that community nurses be able to design interventions that facilitate peer support for adolescents in carrying out physical activities. Collaboration between various stakeholders, including parents, school administrators, and related stakeholders, is needed to create an atmosphere and facilities conducive to adequate peer support for teenagers.

Abstract

Background: Stunting is, as yet, one of the nutritional problems in Indonesia, which inhibits brain development and child growth. Health cadres, as health facilitators in the village, are expected to be able to assist the community in handling stunting cases. The lack of understanding among village health volunteers (VHV) regarding the prevention and treatment of stunting has led to insufficient treatment of stunting cases in Blang Bintang sub-district, Aceh Besar district. Method: This case study aims to describe the implementation of Community Health Nursing (CHN) care in the aggregate of under-fives with stunting through capacity building of VHV in posyandu (monthly health post) in one of the villages in Blang Bintang sub-district, Aceh Besar district. The community nursing assessment led to the CHN diagnosis of ineffective community coping. It was followed by designing community nursing care and its implementation through health education for VHV related to balanced nutrition and growth stimulation in toddlers with education and demonstration sessions. Pretest and posttest were conducted to evaluate knowledge and health cadres related to balanced nutrition and growth stimulation in toddlers. Results: The evaluation results showed an increase in two outcomes, namely health behavior knowledge and toddler care knowledge. Conclusion: Therefore, it is expected that community health nurses and related parties can follow up by providing regular health education and training to VHV or by developing more innovative educational methods that can sustainably increase the capacity of VHV.

Abstract

Breast cancer is a malignancy with a high number of cases compared to other types of cancer. Breast cancer has a serious impact on the patient's psychology, namely decreased feelings of pride, feelings of sadness, anxiety, depression and not being ready to accept the condition of the disease they are experiencing. Breast cancer and psychological problems experienced by patients can reduce optimism for recovery. Optimism is influenced by social support, where social support makes breast cancer patients have the enthusiasm to recover, feel cared for, and feel like they are not alone in facing their disease. The aim of the research was to determine the relationship between social support and optimism for the recovery of breast cancer patients at RSUP Prof. DR. R.D Kandou. This research is a quantitative study with a cross sectional approach where the sample size is 61 breast cancer patients. Data analysis used the Spearman Rank test. The research results showed that most of the social support received by breast cancer patients was in the high category, namely 75.4%, and optimism for recovery was in the high category, namely 65.6%. Social support has a significant relationship with optimism for recovery in breast cancer patients with a value of p = 0.0001 and r = 0.548. The results of this research are a source of information in providing comprehensive nursing care to breast cancer patients while undergoing care and treatment while still involving the people closest to them as providers of support to increase patient optimism.

Abstract

This research was conducted because there is still a high number of patients diagnosed with malnutrition at the Kuningan Private Hospital in 2022 and the results of interviews with mothers mostly answered incorrectly when asked about complementary feeding and most children had not received complete basic immunization. The research aimed to identify the relationship between immunization status and maternal knowledge about complementary feeding with the nutritional status of toddlers at the Kuningan Private Hospital. Quantitative research method with associative design through a cross sectional approach. The total sample was 120 respondents and used purposive sampling technique. Data collection is by measuring the child's weight, height and completion questionnaires with the mother. Univariate analysis used descriptive analysis for immunization status and nutritional status, while for level of knowledge uses central tendency. Bivariate analysis used Spearman Rank. The results of univariate analysis showed that most children received complete immunization and had normal nutritional status and the average knowledge of mothers was 9.7. The results of the bivariate analysis were p value=0.825 for the relationship between immunization status and nutritional status and p value=0.012 for the relationship between maternal knowledge and nutritional status. The conclusion is that there is a relationship between mothers' knowledge about complementary feeding and the nutritional status of toddlers, so it is recommended that mothers increase their knowledge about complementary feeding and hospitals can facilitate this, such as creating online information media or creating WhatsApp groups for mothers to share information with each other and monitor the child's condition.
