Abstract

Hair and scalp health is an important aspect of dermatology that is influenced by various environmental and physiological factors, as well as daily habits. One factor that is often considered is the moisture level of the scalp, which can create a distinct microecological environment conducive to the growth of microorganisms. This study employed a quantitative approach with a comparative observational analytical design to analyze the relationship between hair moisture levels and the risk of fungal infection by the genus Malassezia sp. in two groups: women who wear the hijab and women who do not. The study was conducted in May 2026 in Surakarta, Solo, after obtaining informed consent from the participants. Based on macroscopic observations on PDA medium, differences in fungal colony growth were observed in each group, both in the hijab and non-hijab samples. Some samples showed more visible colony growth, while others showed only slight growth or no dominant colonies. These differences indicate that the number of microorganisms in each sample was not the same. Microscopic observations using LPCB staining revealed fungal structures consisting of round cells in several preparations. This study suggests that wearing a hijab can increase scalp temperature and humidity, potentially supporting the growth of Malassezia sp. However, the results of both macroscopic and microscopic cultures indicate that fungal growth varies among individuals and is not necessarily higher among hijab wearers.

Abstract

The delivery program in health facilities is an effort to improve maternal and infant safety through integrated services. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Delivery Program in the working area of Mata Community Health Center, Kendari City. The study used a qualitative approach with a case study design. Informants were selected purposively, consisting of midwives, integrated health post (Posyandu) cadres, and postpartum mothers. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and analyzed thematically based on input, process, and output components. The results showed that the program's success was supported by the availability of health workers, facilities and infrastructure, BPJS support, the role of cadres, and family support. The implementation process included antenatal care, ongoing education, pregnancy monitoring, interpersonal communication, and a referral system. The program had a positive impact in the form of increased maternal safety, reduced risk of complications, and increased public trust in delivery in health facilities. However, obstacles such as access to transportation, distance, and public knowledge remain challenges. This program effectively increases safe deliveries and contributes to reducing the risk of maternal and infant mortality.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus Type 2 (DMT2) is 90% cases of all DM in the world, in Indonesia it reaches more than 16 million people and in Hospital Boloni Medan City in April 2025 as many as 54 people. This study aims to determine the effect of health education on knowledge and attitudes about a healthy diet in patients with type II diabetes mellitus at the Hospital Boloni Medan City in 2025. This research is a Quasy Experimental research with One Group Pretest Posttest design. The study was conducted at the Tomuan Health Center from October 2025 to March 2026. The sample of this study was 55 people with Diabetes Mellitus Type II. The analysis uses the t-paired sample test, which compares the data before and after being given counseling, and the mean difference between pre-test and post-test is obtained. The level of significance is 95% (α = 0,05). The results showed that there were 47 people who experienced an increase in knowledge after treatment, the mean rank was 25,91 and there was an increase in the average value of attitudes before treatment from 19,73 to 30,20 after treatment. The results of the statistical test of the knowledge variable obtained a p value of 0,000 < 0,05 and the attitude variable p value of 0.007 < 0,05. The conclusion of this study is that there is an effect of health education on knowledge and attitudes about a healthy diet in patients with Type II Diabetes Mellitus at the Hospital Boloni Medan City. It is hoped that DM patients will regularly follow health education to increase their knowledge about a healthy diet in patients with Type II Diabetes Mellitus.

Abstract

Delays in returning inpatient medical record documents may disrupt the continuity of services in the medical records unit, particularly in data processing, information retrieval, and healthcare service delivery. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of staff workload, the completeness of medical record documents, and the implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) on the timeliness of returning inpatient medical record documents. This research employed a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The informants consisted of five ward nurses, while observations were conducted on 100 inpatient medical record documents. The findings revealed that 62% of the medical record documents were returned late. Most informants (60%) stated that excessive workload was the primary obstacle, while 57% of the medical record documents were incomplete and 60% of the informants had not fully implemented the SOPs. These results indicate that high workload, incomplete medical record documentation, and inadequate implementation of SOPs are the main factors affecting the timely return of inpatient medical record documents. Therefore, improving compliance with SOPs, optimizing workload management, and strengthening supervision of document completeness are essential to enhance the quality and efficiency of medical record services.

Abstract

Snacks are one of the primary food sources frequently consumed by school-aged adolescents. Choosing snacks that do not meet food safety and balanced nutrition principles may increase the risk of various health problems. Knowledge and attitudes are important factors influencing adolescents' healthy snack choices. This study aimed to describe the knowledge and attitudes of adolescents regarding healthy snacks at SMP Negeri 28 Padang. This study employed a quantitative descriptive design with a cross-sectional approach. The study involved 56 students selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected using a questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. The data were analyzed using univariate analysis and presented as frequency distributions and percentages. The results showed that 13 respondents (23.3%) had poor knowledge regarding healthy snacks, while 17 respondents (30.4%) had unfavorable attitudes toward healthy snacks. Therefore, schools are expected to optimize nutrition education programs, strengthen the School Health Unit (UKS) activities, and continuously monitor healthy school canteens to improve students' knowledge, foster positive attitudes, and encourage healthy snack selection behaviors among adolescents.

Abstract

Anxiety in children undergoing surgery is a common issue stemming from fear of the procedure, the hospital environment, and the invasive nature of the treatment. Unaddressed anxiety can affect a child's psychological well-being and hinder the care process. Play therapy—specifically coloring—is a nursing intervention that can help alleviate this anxiety. Coloring serves as an activity that provides distraction, promotes a sense of comfort, and helps children express their emotions during their care. The objective of this implementation was to assess changes in anxiety levels among preoperative children following a cloth-bag coloring play therapy intervention. This final nursing project employed a case study method incorporating Evidence-Based Practice, specifically cloth-bag coloring play therapy, with three preschool-aged respondents scheduled for surgery. Anxiety levels were measured before and after the intervention using the Face Image Scale (FIS). The results demonstrated a reduction in anxiety levels across all respondents: the first respondent's score dropped from 4 to 2, the second from 3 to 2, and the third from 4 to 2. Cloth-bag coloring play therapy can be utilized to reduce anxiety levels in preschool children undergoing surgery
