Abstract

Abstract: This article examined the role of K.H. Ahmad Rifa'i in his preaching in Gedangan Village, Gedangan Subdistrict, Sidoarjo Regency, 1965 - 2002. The data were compiled using historical research methods, namely heuristics (data collection), verification (criticism of data), interpretation (interpretation), and historiography (history writing). By using the role theory this study concluded that (1) K.H. Rifa'i was born in the village of Diwek Jombang from the couple Kyai Mahali and Nyai Hj. Khanna, he was born in 1912 AD (2) The condition of the Gedangan community at that time still showed the influence of communists and abangans so that some people still carried out religious rituals such as placing offerings in certain places (3) The role of the Kyai Rifa in broadcasting Islam in Gedangan is being able to change the habits of the Gedangan people who were initially dominated by communist groups and Abangan Muslims into societies that behave according to the guidance in Islam. Abstract

This article was written to find out the biography of KH. Zainal Abidin. This article focuses on three questions, namely: (1) What is the brief biography of KH. Zainal Abidin?, (2) What are the social and cultural conditions that shape KH. Zainal Abidin?, (3) How did KH. Zainal Abidin in preaching in Sidoarjo Year 1783-1848 M?. This study uses a sociological approach and analysis of role theory by S. Nasution which states that a role is a consequence of a person's status so that status can be seen how one works. In the data collection process, this study refers to the stages of the historical method, namely heuristics, verification, interpretation and historiography. The results of the analysis process can be concluded that: 1) KH. Zainal Abidin was born in 1743 M or 1164 H in Tambak Sumur Sidoarjo, he came from a family that really understood the teachings of Islam so that he grew up to be a tough, pious and religious person. 2) KH. Zainal Abidin was equipped with knowledge, religion and kanuragan because his parents understood that the Tambak Sumur community still strongly adheres to Javanese beliefs. 3) Gait KH. Zainal Abidin, among others, was a pioneering figure at the Sono Islamic Boarding School, played a major role in the Islamization of the Tambak Sumur community and was a reliable writer

Abstract

This study focuses on three problems, namely: (1) What is the history of the establishment of the Nurul Hasanah Foundation in Surabaya. (2) How is the development of the Nurul Hasanah Foundation in Surabaya. (3) What are the supporting and inhibiting factors for the development of the Surabaya Nurul Hasanah Foundation. This thesis uses a historical research method with four steps, namely heuristics, verification, interpretation, and historiography. Meanwhile, the approach used in this study is a historical approach and sosiological approach. Meanwhile, the theory used in this research is social institutions by Paul B. Horton and Chaster L. Hunt along development theory by G. Kartasapoetra. Based on research studies, it can be concluded that: (1) The Nurul Hasanah Foundation was founded by Susila Sukmawati in 1996. (2) The developments that occur at the Nurul Hasanah Foundation cover three aspects, including: facilities and infrastructure, the number of foster children, and program activities. (3) The supporting factors for its development include: partnership with Yatim Mandiri, the enthusiasm and enthusiasm of the management, and the trust of donors. Meanwhile, the factors that hinder the development of this foundation include: no fixed allowance from the government, the negative views of the surrounding community, and limited facilities and infrastructure.

Abstract

This is an article that discusses the history of Indonesian secular education. The researcher focuses on three main issues, namely: (1) What is the biography of the Minister of Education and Culture Daoed Joesoef? (2) How were the secular policies during the reign of the Minister of Education and Culture Daoed Joesoef? (3) What is the impact on Muslims of policies that are considered secular during the era of the Minister of Education Daoed Joesoef. Researchers use historical, political science and sociological approaches using the theory of secularism. The results obtained in this study are (1) Childhood and education received and career path of the Minister of Education Daoed Joesoef along with his thoughts while serving as a minister. (2) Policies that are considered secular, such as eliminating holidays during the month of Ramadan and banning headscarves for schoolgirls. (3) The impact on Muslims with the issuance of policies that are considered secular, such as many students being expelled from school related to policies issued by the Minister of Education Daoed Joesoef.

Abstract

The Bersih Desa tradition is a traditional activity that is carried out once a year with the aim of praying for the safety of the village and being grateful for the blessings that have been given by God. The research entitled "The Existence of the Bersih Desa Tradition (Case Study in Baleturi Village, Prambon District, Nganjuk Regency)" focuses on: 1. The history of the clean village tradition, 2. The implementation of the bersih desa tradition, and 3. Functions and elements of religion in the implementation of the tradition Baleturi Village. This research is a qualitative research with historical method. The approach used is an anthropological approach that produces descriptive data and is used to reveal the values ​​of Islamic teachings that are expressed in the bersih desa tradition in Baleturi Village. While the theory used by the author is the theory of religious ceremonies from Koentjaraningrat and the theory of functionalism from Radcliffe Brown. The results of this study indicate that: First, the bersih desa tradition is estimated to have been carried out about 50 years ago in Baleturi Village and is carried out once a year in the month of Suro. Second, a series of events in the implementation of the bersih desa tradition includes the preparation stage and the implementation stage. Third, the functions contained in this bersih desa tradition are social functions and spiritual functions. While the elements of the Islamic religion contained include deliberation, pilgrimage to the grave, tahlil and istighosah, alms, and compensation for orphans.

Abstract

The article discusses (1). General Description of the Condition of the Ngepeh Village Community and the Development of Islam of the Nganjuk Region, (2). History of Development in the Establishment of the Nahdlatul Ulama Educational Foundation Pondok Pesantren Mojosari, (3). The Contribution of the Nahdlatul Ulama Education Foundation of Mojosari Islamic Boarding School to the Ngepeh Village Community, Loceret Distrct, Nganjuk Regency. Using the historical method, the four stages are : Heuristics, Verification, Interpretation, and Historiography. Using a Sociological Historical Approach to analyze the Pondok Pesantren Mojosari influence on education in Ngepeh Village. Using Ibnu Khaldun’s Historical Motion Theory, K.H. Ali Imran as a historical driving figure for spreading Islam in Ngepeh Village and Emile Durkheim’s Structural Functional Theory described Pondok Pesantren Mojosari as a place for children’s education. The conclusions is : (1). K.H. Ali Imran spread Islam with the establishment of the Pondok Pesantren Mojosari (1720 AD), (2). Pondok Pesantren Mojosari formed the Nahdlatul Ulama Education Foundation by K.H. Ahmad Basthomi Zaini provided formal and informal education (1995 AD), (3). The Nahdlatul Ulama Education Foundation Pondok Pesantren Mojosari contributes to the Ngepeh Village Community with the existence of TQ Al-Furqan (1995 AD) and the Mojosari Institute of Technology (2021 AD).

Abstract

People have various types of culture in each region of this archipelago. It cannot be denied that a culture and tradition actually has an entity that is created from people's belief in a story, whether myth or legend. This is what makes this phenomenon interesting to study further. The aim of this research is to explore the current state of the Tegalsari (Surabaya) area, the legendary story of Grandpa Kudo Kardono from both an emic and historical perspective, and the existence of Grandfather Kudo Kardono's offering place. This research uses historical research methods and an ethno-archaeological approach. Then it uses the structuralism theory of Levi-Strauss along with its supporting theories, namely the semiotic theory by Charles Sanders Peirce and the theory of cultural interpretation by Clifford Geertz as an analytical tool. The results of the research include: there are 7 elements of universal culture as stated by Koentjoroningrat in an area in Tegalsari, Surabaya; the legend of Kudo Kardono, who is believed by the public to be the Majapahir warlord who succeeded in defeating Ra Kuti, although his name is not recorded in history; and the Grandfather Kudo Kardono Islamic Boarding School is located on Jalan Cempaka No. 25 and has artifact symbols, characteristics and traditions in it.

Abstract

This article discusses religious studies in the Tale of the Devil and the Prophet which uses Jawi script and Malay. The aim of this article is to explore the treasures of the Jawi script in the content of the saga. The research in this article uses philological and historical methods. This article contains the results that the Jawi script can be said to have existed before 1303 AD, because there was a discovery of a stone with letters in Terengganu which read 22 February 1303 AD. Then, in analyzing the text in the saga of the Devil and the Prophet, elements of religious values such as alms, reading the Koran, fasting, and Hajj.

Abstract

This article seeks to understand the Mingkabau Community in Surabaya, focusing on discussing marriage procedures. In the scope of the discussion, there is a side of dynamism or a different form of change in the Minangkabau traditional marriage procedure from the place of birth to the customs in the city of Surabaya. This study uses two approaches, namely emic and etic and applies ethnography as the method. The analytical tool uses the theory of Continuity and Change by John Obert Voll. The results of this search concluded that: 1) Minangkabau marriages in West Sumatra have various kinds of processions that have meaning to carry out marriages; 2) Minangkabau weddings in Surabaya have fewer processions than those in West Sumatra; 3) there is a combination with the Minangkabau marriage procedures with local customs.

Abstract

This article identifies and analyzes the forms of moral values ​​found in the short Javanese film “Pitutur 2” produced by Paniradya Kaistimewaan using James Rachels' theory. This research was studied using a literary psychology approach. The method used is descriptive qualitative by interpreting the analysis of the data contained in the film. Data collection techniques use content analysis techniques to explain the data that has been found. The data found in this study are in the form of data excerpts from the dialogue between characters, the behavior of the characters, and the speech obtained by the characters. The results of this study are the relevance between educational values ​​in film and Javanese pitch, there are; 1) Tresnane wong tuwo nang anak.e tan kena kapitung mawa amba; 2) Gusti peparing akal lan pikiran supoyo ngerti endi tumindak ala utawa becik; 3) Pangibadah ing lelaku supoyo urip urup, migunani lan tansah mertobat.
