Abstract

The Maena dance, a cultural heritage from the Nias tribe on Nias Island, North Sumatra, Indonesia, is a traditional dance full of meaning and cultural values. This dance displays strong and dynamic movements, with dancers wearing traditional Nias clothing. Accompanying music, such as gondang, taganing, and tifa, creates a rhythm that strengthens the expression of the dance. The Maena dance depicts the strength, enthusiasm and unity of the Nias people. In this dance, vigorous war movements, high jumps symbolize courage, and expressive hand and eye movements express a variety of emotions. This dance is also used in various traditional ceremonies, cultural celebrations, and important moments in the lives of the Nias people. The Maena dance, as a source of creative ideas, inspires us to dig deeper into the cultural values and spirit of courage contained in this dance. Combining elements of Maena dance with modern art or developing new dances could provide a unique creative platform, celebrating Nias' cultural heritage while presenting a message of strength, unity and courage to today's generation.

Abstract

The report on the creation of the work entitled "Visual Exploration of Palembang Folklore, Legend of Kemaro Island" in Digital Art Works aims to introduce Palembang folklore so that it can be known by the wider community and encourage people to love the culture of their respective regions more. The process of creating digital works uses the Hawkins method, which includes exploration, experimentation and formation, and is equipped with a presentation method to display the results of the work. In the process of creating works, fine art elements such as points, lines, planes, shapes, spaces, colors, textures and light and darkness are applied and combined to create interesting visuals. This work is realized through non-proportional anatomical objects in the shape of children with fat and cute faces, inspired by the shape of bakpau. The choice of this shape provides visual uniqueness and an attractive impression. The results of the creation of this work are 16 (sixteen) digital works that visualize Palembang folklore, the Legend of Kemaro Island. These works were then presented as an interactive art installation with the title "A Story." Through this work, it is hoped that Palembang folklore can be better known and appreciated by the wider community, as well as encouraging a love of local culture. Thus, this work contributes to the preservation and introduction of regional culture to a wider generation, emphasizes telling stories that are rich in cultural values, and provides new experiences for art lovers.

Abstract

ABSTRACT TThis final report describes the process of creating a painting with the theme “Lifestyle Distortion from a Theological Perspective”. This theme focuses on the deterioration of the human lifestyle that is getting worse and has a negative impact on individuals and the environment. The Bible, as the holy book of Christianity, is used as inspiration and a benchmark to compare today's lifestyle, which is often enjoyed by many people despite its destructive potential. Through this artwork, it is hoped that viewers can see a reflection of these lifestyle deviations, trigger self-reflection, and inspire them to live a better and more meaningful life. A total of six artworks were produced using various techniques and media, with the application of the elements and principles of fine art. Each work depicts the distortion of human lifestyles that are increasingly far from theological teachings. This visualization is designed to show the negative impact of lifestyle changes that are not in accordance with spiritual values, so that viewers can better understand the dangers posed. The aim of this work is to provide insight and inspiration for individuals to evaluate their chosen lifestyle and encourage change towards a more ethical life that is in line with theological principles.

Abstract

Work creation report entitled “Waste Dilemma in The Current Era in The Creation of Works of Art”. This idea arose from personal anxiety that every day we found rubbish everywhere. This problem gave rise to a strong urge to present visualizations of various forms of waste, especially plastic waste, in painting. The aim of using waste in this research is to provide an overview of what waste looks like if it is left for too long and accumulates. The method for creating works goes through three stages, namely, direct observation in the field, exploration, and embodiment in a painting. The work will later display realist techniques with a combination of paste as texture such as plastic, dried acrylic paint and scraps of used cardboard. As well as new findings on the texture of wood dust (saw residue). The trash objects are arranged in such a way with splashes or melted accents on each side of the object to attract attention. The game of value (level of brightness or darkness) also plays a very important role in giving dimension and depth to a work of art. The author to realize how trash objects can look very dirty and disgusting. Messy or careless placement makes waste even more unsightly. This aims to make everyone aware of how dangerous an dirty waste is if left to pile up for years on earth.

Abstract

Shadows can be used as an interesting element in the creation of high-print graphic art. In the concept carried out in this final report, shadows are not only a visual representation but also a source of inspiration for the author. In the process of creating this artwork, the high print technique is used as the main technique, and a combination of several other media. Humans usually copy the surrounding nature as their aesthetic, which they usually find as experiences and memories. This form of experience is referred to as aesthetic experience or can also be referred to as inspiration. According to Munro, aesthetic experience is the way a stimulus responds to something that exists from outside the self, not just through sensory perception, but also related to psychological processes such as imagination and emotion Based on this description, shadows can be an object of aesthetic experience for the subject as a spectator and creator in the creation of a work. The shape of the shadow, which changes every time, gives room for exploration and understanding of the shapes produced by shadows, especially shadows from plants. Shadows from plants become the main object because they can be found every day. They become a form of experience that is familiar, aesthetic, and interesting to be used as a source of inspiration for creating high-print graphic art.

Abstract

This journal describes the creation of a painting that takes the theme “Gambelan Jegog Feet in the Expression of Painting”, which is inspired by the uniqueness of the jegog feet found in gambelan jegog in Jembrana. In general, this discusses the meaning contained in the jegog foot which is associated with the jegog tone element and the jegog gambelan player. The problem encountered is how to visualize the jegog foot, which is a sterilization of deer and buffalo feet, to represent ideas, notions, meanings and techniques used in realizing artworks. The method of creation is the process of realizing the work systematically. In this realization process, there are several methods that the author uses during the process of creating paintings, namely I Nyoman Wijaya's method: object observation, photo taking, object photo selection, drawing studies on paper media, sketches on canvas, background coloring, object coloring, and finally finishing. The author's goal in the creation of this work is to find out more about the jegog foot, which behind the simplicity of its shape, has its own philosophical meaning in it, as a medium for creativity and imagination into the form of paintings. The author applies the principles of fine art, thus creating 6 (six) works on this occasion in semester VI.
