Abstract

Breast milk is the optimal source of nutrition for infants, and adequate milk production is essential to support infant growth and development. However, many breastfeeding mothers experience difficulties in milk production, particularly during the early postpartum period. Rolling massage is a non-pharmacological intervention that is believed to stimulate the release of oxytocin and prolactin hormones, thereby enhancing breast milk production. This study aimed to determine the effect of rolling massage on breast milk production in breastfeeding mothers at Tidore City Hospital. This research employed a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest–posttest approach. A total of 30 breastfeeding mothers were selected as the sample using purposive sampling techniques. Breast milk production was assessed before and after the implementation of rolling massage. The intervention was performed according to standardized procedures. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test to evaluate differences in breast milk production before and after the intervention. The results showed a significant increase in breast milk production after the rolling massage intervention. Statistical analysis using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test revealed a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant effect of rolling massage on breast milk production in breastfeeding mothers. In conclusion, rolling massage has a significant positive effect on increasing breast milk production among breastfeeding mothers. This intervention can be recommended as a simple, safe, and effective complementary therapy to support successful breastfeeding, particularly in the early postpartum period.

Abstract

Stres and anxiety are common psychological problems experienced by university students and have been shown to negatively affect academic performance and psychological well-being. Dhikr, as an Islamic spiritual practice, is increasingly being studied as a potential coping mechanism to help students manage academic pressures. However, existing studies remain fragmented across different psychological outcomes, intervention forms, and methodological approaches. This study aimed to synthesize empirical findings regarding the role of dhikr as a coping mechanism in reducing stress and anxiety among university students. A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) following the PRISMA 2020 guidelines was conducted using four databases, namely Scopus, PubMed, Google Scholar, and Garuda, covering publications from 2016 to 2026. Following predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria, 12 articles were included for final analysis. The findings indicate that dhikr has the potential to reduce anxiety and stress across various contexts and may support the development of more adaptive coping mechanisms through emotional regulation, psychological tranquility, and improved self-control. Nevertheless, the findings should be interpreted with caution due to methodological limitations in the included studies, such as small sample sizes, the absence of control groups, and inconsistencies across some of the included findings. This review provides a more comprehensive understanding of the role of dhikr in supporting students' psychological well-being and highlights the need for future studies employing more rigorous research designs and more diverse student populations.

Abstract

Music Performance Anxiety (MPA) is a form of anxiety experienced when individuals perform their musical abilities in front of an audience. This condition may affect performance quality, concentration, and musicians’ psychological well-being. This study aimed to describe the level of Music Performance Anxiety among students of Nusa Cendana University who had experience in musical performance activities. A quantitative approach with a descriptive design was employed. A total of 96 students were recruited using a convenience sampling technique. Data were collected using the Music Performance Anxiety Scale, consisting of 15 items covering somatic and cognitive symptoms, performance context, and performance evaluation. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics through univariate analysis. The results revealed that 53.1% of respondents were categorized as having high Music Performance Anxiety, while 46.9% were categorized as moderate, with no respondents in the low category. The mean score of 2.53 and a standard deviation of 0.502 indicate a relatively high tendency of performance anxiety among the participants. These findings suggest that student musicians remain vulnerable to psychological pressure in performance settings and highlight the importance of emotional regulation and anxiety management strategies in musical performance contexts.

Abstract

Life satisfaction is an important indicator of subjective well-being, particularly during early adulthood, a developmental stage characterized by various personal and social challenges. This study aimed to describe the level of life satisfaction among early adults in Kupang City, Indonesia. A quantitative approach with a descriptive design was employed. The study involved 384 respondents aged 18–25 years selected through proportionate stratified random sampling. Data were collected using the Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS) developed by Diener et al. and analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques. The findings revealed that most respondents were categorized as having a moderate level of life satisfaction (59.9%), followed by low (27.9%) and high (12.2%) levels. These results indicate that early adults in Kupang generally perceive their lives positively, although they have not yet reached an optimal level of life satisfaction. Social and economic factors, including employment opportunities, income, and environmental conditions, are assumed to contribute to their life evaluations. The study provides empirical evidence regarding life satisfaction among early adults and may serve as a reference for developing policies and programs aimed at improving youth psychological well-being.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has increased public access to online gambling platforms, creating various psychological and social challenges, particularly among early adults. This study aimed to explore online gambling behavior among early adults in Alak Village, Kupang City. A qualitative approach with a descriptive design was employed. Three early adult participants who were actively involved in online gambling activities were selected purposively based on the study criteria. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and analyzed using Thematic Analysis. The findings revealed three major themes: the initial process of involvement in online gambling, patterns of gambling engagement, and emotional experiences during gambling activities. Initial involvement was influenced by social environments, attraction to others’ gambling winnings, and feelings of boredom and stress. All participants remained actively involved in online gambling, with online slot games being the most frequently played form. Furthermore, gambling wins generated positive emotional experiences that reinforced continued participation, whereas losses resulted in stress, disappointment, and psychological distress. These findings indicate that online gambling behavior is a multidimensional phenomenon shaped by the interaction of social, emotional, and cognitive factors.

Abstract

Bullying remains a significant issue within educational environments due to its potential impact on students' psychological well-being and mental health. This study aimed to examine the effect of Bullying on the mental health of students at SMA Negeri 6 Kupang City. A quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design was employed. The study involved 88 students selected using a convenience sampling technique from a population of 1,094 students. Data were collected using the Olweus Bully/Victim Questionnaire (OBVQ) to measure Bullying and the Mental Health Inventory-18 (MHI-18) to assess mental health. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics and simple linear regression. The results indicated that the average Bullying score was 30.76, while the average mental health score was 55.20. Regression analysis revealed a negative relationship between Bullying and mental health (β = -0.200), indicating that higher levels of Bullying tended to be associated with lower mental health scores. However, the relationship was not statistically significant (p = 0.062 > 0.05). The coefficient of determination (R² = 0.040) showed that Bullying explained only 4% of the variance in students’ mental health. These findings suggest that although Bullying tends to negatively affect mental health, other factors play a more substantial role in determining adolescents' mental health conditions.

Abstract

This study aimed to describe the level of Perceived Academic Support among students of Universitas Nusa Cendana. Perceived Academic Support refers to students’ perceptions of academic support received from lecturers, peers, family, and the university environment. Academic support may take the form of academic guidance, motivation, feedback, learning assistance, educational facilities, and a supportive learning environment. This research employed a quantitative descriptive approach. The participants were active students of Universitas Nusa Cendana selected through purposive sampling based on predetermined criteria. Data were collected using a Perceived Academic Support scale consisting of four dimensions: lecturer support, peer support, family support, and institutional support. Responses were measured using a five-point Likert scale. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics, including minimum score, maximum score, mean, standard deviation, frequency, percentage, and category distribution. The findings indicated that most students reported a high level of Perceived Academic Support. These results suggest that students generally perceive positive academic support from their surrounding environment. The findings are expected to provide useful information for higher education institutions in strengthening academic support services and enhancing students’ learning experiences.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between social anxiety and phubbing behavior in early adulthood. Phubbing refers to the act of ignoring a conversation partner during face-to-face interactions due to greater attention being directed toward a smartphone. One factor that is believed to be associated with this behavior is social anxiety, which is characterized by feelings of fear, worry, and discomfort in social situations. Individuals experiencing higher levels of social anxiety may prefer engaging with their smartphones rather than participating in direct interpersonal interactions. This study employed a quantitative approach with a correlational research design. The participants consisted of 144 young adults aged 18–25 years who were unmarried and resided in Bekasi Regency. Participants were selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected using the Generic Scale of Phubbing (GSP) and a social anxiety scale. The data were analyzed using Spearman’s rho correlation test to examine the relationship between the variables. The findings revealed a significant positive relationship between social anxiety and phubbing behavior among young adults (r = 0.765; p < 0.001). The correlation coefficient indicates a strong relationship, suggesting that individuals with higher levels of social anxiety are more likely to engage in phubbing behavior. Therefore, the research hypothesis was accepted. The results also highlight the role of social anxiety as a psychological factor associated with phubbing behavior in early adulthood. Based on these findings, young adults are encouraged to develop greater awareness of their social anxiety and adopt adaptive coping strategies to reduce the tendency to engage in phubbing. Future studies are recommended to involve more diverse participants and explore additional factors that may influence phubbing behavior

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between friendship quality and subjective well-being among adolescents in Bekasi Regency. Adolescence is a developmental stage characterized by significant physical, emotional, social, and psychological changes that may influence an individual's well-being. During this period, friendships play an important role in adolescents’ lives, as peers often serve as sources of support, companionship, and acceptance. Subjective well-being refers to an individual’s evaluation of their life, including life satisfaction, positive affect, and negative affect. Friendship quality, on the other hand, refers to the degree of closeness, trust, support, security, and comfort experienced within a friendship. This study employed a quantitative correlational approach to investigate the relationship between these variables. The participants consisted of 140 adolescents aged 14–17 years living in Bekasi Regency, selected using an incidental sampling technique. Data were collected using three instruments: the Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS), the Scale of Positive and Negative Experience (SPANE), and the Friendship Quality Scale (FQS). The collected data were analyzed using correlation analysis to determine the strength and direction of the relationship between friendship quality and subjective well-being.The results revealed a significant positive relationship between friendship quality and subjective well-being among adolescents. These findings indicate that adolescents who experience higher-quality friendships tend to report higher levels of subjective well-being. Positive friendship quality provides emotional support, a sense of comfort, and enjoyable social experiences, which contribute to enhancing adolescents’ overall well-being. Therefore, friendship quality can be considered an important factor in promoting subjective well-being among adolescents.

Abstract

Partner selection preferences are an important aspect of early adulthood because they are related to the formation of healthy and lasting romantic relationships. One factor believed to be associated with the development of these preferences is a father’s involvement in child-rearing. This study aims to examine the relationship between a father’s involvement and partner selection preferences among young adult women. The study employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The sample consisted of 113 young adult women aged 18–30 years, recruited using non-probability sampling techniques. Hypothesis testing results indicated a significant positive relationship between father involvement and partner selection preferences among young adult women (r = 0.2999; p = 0.001). These findings suggest that the higher a father’s involvement in child-rearing, the higher the partner selection preferences of young adult women. However, the strength of the relationship was relatively low, indicating that partner selection preferences are also influenced by factors other than father involvement. This study implies that father involvement plays a role in shaping healthy and realistic partner standards among young adult women.
