Abstract

This study is a Classroom Action Research which aims to determine the improvement of the ability to write procedural texts using group investigation learning model of class XI students of SMA Negeri 1 Bantaeng. The subjects in this study were students of class XI IPS 2 consisting of 13 students and 20 female students. The data were obtained using the procedure text writing test. The data analysis technique is using quantitative and qualitative techniques. The results showed that previously in the first cycle, the students' ability to write procedural texts was still minimal due to the lack of understanding of the material. Then, in the second cycle the students were able to determine the theme by collecting essay or reading materials, adjusting the topics that they could develop in the procedure text, and developing the essay outline into a correct and clear instruction. The implementation of the learning process of writing procedural texts using the group investigation learning model of class XI students of SMA Negeri 1 Bantaeng has improved which can be seen in the implementation of the second cycle students are more enthusiastic in participating in learning which is marked by the number of students who dare to ask questions, answer questions and express their opinions

Abstract

This study aims to describe the forms of character education values in the novel Selembar Itu Berarti by Suryaman Amopriono and the strategies for instilling character education values in the novel Selembar Itu Berarti by Suryaman Amopriono. The research data consists of texts containing character education values. The data sources that are the objects of this study are the values in the novel Selembar Itu Berarti by Suryaman Amopriono, namely honesty, discipline, creativity, social awareness, responsibility, democracy, religiosity, curiosity, hard work, independence, patriotism, appreciation of achievement, friendliness/communicativeness, love of reading, and love of peace. There are four strategies for instilling character education values in the novel Selembar Itu Berarti by Suryaman Amopriono. The results of this study indicate that there are forms of character education for character education values in the novel Selembar Itu Berarti by Suryaman Amopriono, namely the role model strategy, the advice strategy, the knowing goodness strategy, and the habit-forming strategy.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the storytelling skills of eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 4 Takalar. The research method used is a descriptive method with a quantitative approach. This descriptive method involves collecting data to test hypotheses or answer questions about people's opinions on an issue or topic. Quantitative research emphasises analysis of numerical data processed using statistical methods. With the quantitative method, the significance of the relationship between variables will be obtained. The reason the researcher chose this type of research is because it is very effective for researching students' storytelling skills. The results of the study on the storytelling skills of skilled students show that the recapitulation of the aspect score is 71.87, which is in the range of 56-75. This falls under the category of fairly skilled. From several assessment aspects, namely: (a) language usage skills, which include the proper and correct use of the Makassar language and communicative or easily understood by the audience (children), (b) vocal processing skills (articulation, tempo, and appropriate intonation), (c) mastery of the material, (d) expression/interpretation skills, (e) creativity, including costumes, props, and stage presence. Thus, it can be concluded that the students' storytelling skills are categorised as fairly skilled because, out of the 32 samples, 71.87% of the students obtained scores in the 56-75 range, which is the highest skill level.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the form of directive speech acts used by health workers in medical services at the Kampala Community Health Centre in Sinjai Regency and the function of directive speech acts used by health workers in medical services at the Kampala Community Health Centre in Sinjai Regency. This study is a qualitative study. This research was conducted at the Kampala Community Health Centre in Sinjai Regency. The research design is descriptive-qualitative. The focus of this research is data in the form of utterances in the form of speech acts expressed by health workers in providing medical services to patients. The source of research data is health workers. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, recording, note-taking, and documentation. The results of the study reveal that the forms of directive speech acts used by health workers are declarative directive speech acts, interrogative directive speech acts, and imperative directive speech acts. The functions of directive speech acts used by health workers are command, question, prohibition, advice, request, and permission. The use of various forms of directive speech acts by healthcare workers is represented so that patients receive treatment and recovery. The use of various functions of directive speech acts by healthcare workers is represented in order to provide information and help patients achieve recovery

Abstract

This research aims to find out the problems in learning writing that occur in Senior High School, especially in writing exposition texts. The purpose of this study is to determine the implementation and results of utilising the discovery learning model. The model used in this research is descriptive. The research sample is X Merdeka 1 class students. The implementation of the discovery learning model is carried out by dividing the three stages of learning, namely Introduction, core activities (stimulation, problem statement, data processing, verification, generalisation), and closing activities. The results showed that there was a significant difference between the initial assessment and the final assessment using the discovery learning model. Based on the data obtained, it is known that there is a difference from the initial assessment of students who still have difficulty in writing exposition texts and the final assessment of 25 students completing the exposition text completely. Judging from the increased average student results, it can be concluded that the use of the discovery learning model is successfully used in learning to write expository texts.

Abstract

This research aims to (1) describe the form of slang in the school environment of Makassar Mulya Middle School students and (2) describe the influence of the use of slang in the school environment of Makassar Mulya Middle School students on the existence of the Indonesian language. This research is a qualitative descriptive research. using listening and note-taking techniques and equipped with recording and distributing questionnaires. The results of the research show that there are 4 forms of slang used by Makassar Mulya Middle School students, namely: abbreviations, puns, acronyms and new vocabulary. The influence of the use of slang in the school environment of Makassar Mulya Middle School students, namely: related to aspects of creativity, social identity, and adaptation to dynamic cultural changes. Slang has several positive influences, but its excessive or inappropriate use can also have various negative influences on the existence of the Indonesian language, especially related to the decline in the quality of formal language, the potential for misunderstandings, erosion of language norms, and the formation of inappropriate language habits

Abstract

This study aims to describe the structure of persuasive text and the linguistic characteristics of persuasive text by students of class VIII SMP Negeri 9 Maros. This type of research is descriptive qualitative research. The focus of this research is the structure of persuasive text and the linguistic characteristics of persuasive text. The research data source is persuasive text by students. The data collection technique was carried out using the mark reading technique and the note taking technique. The instrument of this research is the researcher himself as the main instrument and supporting instruments such as documentation studies in the form of students' persuasive text work. The results of this study prove that, mastery of the structure of persuasive text and the linguistic characteristics of persuasive text is still weak which is characterized by the incomplete structure and lack of linguistic features in the work of persuasive text.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the form and function of satirical language found in Ormas content on Deddy Corbuzier's Youtube channel. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with data sources in the form of Ormas episodes 1–3 from 2023. Data was collected through observation and note-taking techniques, with the researcher as the primary instrument (human instrument). Data analysis was conducted through the stages of reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study show that there are five forms of satirical language styles, namely irony, cynicism, sarcasm, satire, and innuendo. The functions of each satirical language style include mocking, criticising, reprimanding, and raising awareness. Overall, the use of satirical language styles in Ormas broadcasts serves as a means of social criticism and reflection on the social phenomena raised in the content.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the problems encountered in the implementation of the 5th Teaching Campus programme for students of the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Programme at Makassar State University. The focus of the study includes problems in the implementation of literacy and numeracy (AKM Class), library administration and reading corners, technology adaptation, and internal student constraints. This study uses a qualitative method with data sources from students participating in the 5th Teaching Campus. The research data consists of statements or sentences that describe the various obstacles experienced by students in implementing the programme. Data collection techniques were carried out through interviews and questionnaires, while data analysis included data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing stages. The results of the study show that students face various problems, including limited internet access, difficulty understanding AKM Kelas questions and applications, low reading skills among students, minimal awareness among schools of the importance of libraries, a lack of appropriate reading materials, limited space for reading corners, limited technological equipment, and low support from schools. In addition, internal obstacles were also found, such as the incompatibility of majors and placements, long distances, delays in funding, and a lack of attention from field supervisors and mentor teachers.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the authentic factors of language learning difficulties in children with special needs (deaf) in Grade VIII of SMP SLB Negeri 1 Makassar and how these factors affect language learning difficulties in deaf children. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with data collection techniques in the form of observation and interviews. In addition, analysis techniques such as transcription, categorisation, theme analysis, and conclusion drawing were used. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the language learning difficulties of deaf students in class VIII of SLB Negeri 1 Makassar are caused by genetic factors, disorders or accidents that have an impact on limited access to hearing aids, a lack of awareness among parents about early education, and a very limited understanding of vocabulary.
