Abstract

Pacal Reservoir is located in Kedungsource Village, Temayang District, Bojonegoro Regency, which functions to dam water from the Kedung River, which is a tributary of the Bengawan Solo River. Sedimentation is one of the main problems that occur in reservoirs, which causes a decrease in the operational life of the reservoir. Changes in land use can affect the sedimentation of the Pacal reservoir. This is caused by factors such as erosion, transportation and sedimentation that occur on the land. Changes in land use can increase land erosion, which can then increase sedimentation in reservoirs. This research aims to determine the level of sedimentation and its effect on the useful life of the Pacal Reservoir. From the research results, several conclusions were drawn relating to the sedimentation rate value in Pacal Reservoir in the 2013-2022 period as follows: The volume of suspended load was 24217.74 tons/year; Bed load volume is 45205.50 m³/yr; then the total value of sediment inflow is 92025.99 tons/year; The total sediment spread is 0.98 mm/yr. From the results of sedimentation calculations, the estimated remaining useful life of Pacal Reservoir is 30 years.

Abstract

The development of science, especially in the field of transportation, especially roads, requires adequate infrastructure in the form of rigid roads or pavements that are in accordance with conditions in the field. This study aims to analyze the addition of fiber strapping band by 0.75%, 1.25%, 1.75% to increase concrete compressive strength, and concrete tensile strength. Research Methods The experiment was conducted in the Civil Engineering laboratory of the University of Muhammadiyah Parepare. The results of the study were 0% (normal), 0.75%, 1.25% and 1.75% on fine aggregates. Testing of 28-day-old concrete on normal concrete amounted to 22.74 Mpa, on 0.75% fiber strapping band concrete amounted to 21.137 Mpa, on 1.25% strapping band fiber concrete amounted to 16.70 Mpa, and on 1.75% strapping band fiber concrete amounted to 17.26 MPa. The results of tensile testing of concrete at the age of 28 days, in normal concrete amounted to 5.889 MPa. For concrete with 0.75% fiber strapping band of 6.111 MPa. For concrete with 1.25% fiber strapping band of 5.556 MPa. For concrete with 1.75% fiber strapping band of 5.778 MPa. The results showed that the use of strapping bands as a substitute for fine aggregate in concrete had a considerable influence so that it experienced an increase in pressure on concrete by a certain percentage. Thus concrete with 0.75% fiber strapping band produces compressive strength plans and is suitable for use for rigid pavement pavement.

Abstract

Paving blocks are becoming more popular among consumers because they are environmentally friendly, can save groundwater, are easy to install and maintain, and have many shapes that add aesthetic value. This study aims to determine the difference of shells on the water absorption capacity of paving blocks and the strength of paving blocks. Experiments were conducted at the structure and materials laboratory of Muhammadiyah University of Parepare from August to October 2023 for this research method. The results showed that the water absorption of paving blocks was influenced by the addition of seashells. The water absorption values of the 0%, 5%, 10%, and 25% variations were 1.4 percent, 2 percent, 3.4 percent, and 3.7 percent for the 7-day treatment period; 0.6 percent, 1.7 percent, 2.4 percent, and 3.3 percent for the 14-day treatment period; and 1.3%, 2.8 percent, 3.0 percent, and 4.6 percent for the 28- day treatment period. According to the above results, the more clamshells added, the greater the water absorption. The compressive strength shows that the addition of clamshells affects the compressive strength of block paving. The compressive strength values were 23.841 Mpa, 9.365 Mpa, 21.587 Mpa, and 11.429 Mpa at the 28-day curing age, respectively. The more clamshells added, the lower the compressive strength.

Abstract

Gunadarma University operates multiple campuses, each equipped with its own library. To ensure equitable access to newly acquired titles, it is imperative that these materials are disseminated across all campus libraries. So, when a new book title is added, this book must also be owned by the library at each campus location. In this research, book distribution routes with the shortest distance and time will be determined using the Vehicle Routing Problem (VRP) method with Excel Solver. Gunadarma University has a central library which is the starting point for distributing books to other campuses. The central university library serves as the distribution hub, from which books are dispatched to seven additional campus locations. Simulation results using Excel Solver showed that the shortest route for sending books to seven library locations on the Gunadarma University campus using one vehicle was a distance of 137.14 km in 3 hours 12 minutes. This optimized route yielded substantial cost savings, amounting to a 12.5% reduction compared to previous distribution practices.

Abstract

Steel pipes remain the preferred choice for distribution and crude oil installation pipes in the oil and gas industry due to their strength, surface hardness, and cost-effectiveness. However, their susceptibility to corrosion in harsh environments poses significant challenges. This research focuses on analyzing the corrosion rate of API 5L X-42 steel in a crude oil environment at a temperature of 40°C. The corrosion rate was determined using the weight loss method, revealing that the rate varies over time. The findings of this study provide crucial insights for the industry, particularly in preventing leaks in crude oil installation pipes caused by corrosion. By understanding the corrosion behavior of steel pipes under specific conditions, the oil and gas industry can implement more effective maintenance strategies and material selection, ultimately enhancing the safety and longevity of pipeline infrastructure. The study highlights the importance of regular monitoring and the adoption of preventive measures to mitigate corrosion-related issues, thereby ensuring the continuous and safe operation of oil and gas installations

Abstract

Material innovation in the manufacturing and automotive industries plays an important role in improving engine performance and durability. Conventional materials such as steel and aluminum have limitations in resistance to extreme temperatures and wear, so new materials such as high-performance metal alloys, carbon fiber composites, and nanotechnology-based materials are developed as solutions. These materials are capable of improving energy efficiency, reducing weight, and extending component life. However, the adoption of new materials faces challenges such as high production costs, fabrication complexity, and validation in real operational environments. Therefore, collaboration between academia, industry and government is needed to develop solutions that are not only technically superior, but also economical and sustainable. This research uses the SWOT method to analyze the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats in the application of new materials. Data were obtained through literature studies, laboratory experiments, and expert interviews. The analysis results show that materials such as carbon fiber composites (CFRP) have advantages in fuel efficiency and corrosion resistance, but also face challenges in production and maintenance costs. With innovations in manufacturing technology and a more sustainable approach, new materials have the potential to be the optimal solution for the automotive and manufacturing industries in the future

Abstract

Renewable energy planning is a complex process, involving multiple dimensions, including natural resource availability, government policies, and socio-economic factors. This study emphasizes the importance of a decision-making approach that is not only technically based, but also considers the social and political factors that influence policy implementation. Decision-making in renewable energy planning is often hampered by information inequality between stakeholders, social resistance, and policy instability that can slow down a sustainable energy transition. Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) methods have been used to help stakeholders choose the best option, but overly technical approaches can be a barrier in developing countries. Therefore, simpler and more data-driven approaches, such as heuristic models, become more relevant in contexts of uncertainty. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach through case studies to explore the dynamics of decision-making in renewable energy planning. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, focus group discussions (FGDs), and document analysis. The results show that transparency, open communication and stakeholder participation are essential to overcome social and political barriers and support effective and sustainable renewable energy policy implementation.
