Abstract

Workplace nutrition interventions are efforts to improve workers' health and well-being through education, counselling and environmental changes. Nutrition intervention studies are needed to evaluate the effectiveness of such programs and interventions. The aim of this study was to analyse studies on the importance and best practices of informed consent in workplace nutrition intervention studies and present the results in a narrative review. This study used qualitative research methods. The data collection technique in this research is by studying literature obtained from Google Scholar. The data collected was then analysed in three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The results showed that employees were fully aware of the nature of the intervention, its potential risks and benefits, and their right to withdraw from the study at any time7. This is important to respect employee autonomy and to ensure that research is conducted ethically. In conclusion, informed consent plays an important role in workplace nutrition intervention research. This not only protects the rights and welfare of employees but also contributes to the validity and ethical conduct of research.

Abstract

Cow's milk allergy is a common condition in babies and children. Allergic reactions can occur when the body reacts to the proteins in cow's milk, causing various symptoms such as skin rashes, vomiting, diarrhea, or even more serious reactions. Babies who suffer from cow's milk allergy need appropriate treatment so that their growth and development is not disrupted. One approach used in managing cow's milk allergy is to provide an extensive hydrolyzate formula. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of providing extensive hydrolyzed formula on the growth and development of babies suffering from cow's milk allergy. This study used qualitative research methods. The data collection technique in this research is literature study. The data that has been collected is then analyzed in three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The results of the study concluded that the use of extensive hydrolyzed formula is an effective choice for babies who are allergic to cow's milk. This research shows that this formula has a positive impact on the baby's weight growth according to his age. However, in terms of infant development, there is no significant difference in the effect between the use of extensive hydrolyzed formula and soy protein isolate on various aspects, including global development, gross motor skills, fine motor skills, language and social personality in children who are allergic to cow's milk

Abstract

Anemia is a condition where there is a lack of healthy red blood cells. Anemia can be caused by various factors, including deficiencies of iron and vitamin C. The aim of this research is to explore the important role of iron and vitamin C in preventing and treating anemia. This research adopts a qualitative approach in its research methodology. The data collection technique used is literature study. After the data is collected, analysis is carried out in three stages, namely data reduction to identify important information, data presentation to organize relevant information, and conclusion drawing to summarize the findings and their implications. The results showed that iron, protein and vitamin C have important roles in the prevention and treatment of anemia. There is a close relationship between these three components in preventing and treating anemia. Iron deficiency is the root cause of anemia, while vitamin C and protein play a role in increasing iron absorption, thus playing an important role in preventing or treating anemia. Iron is an indispensable mineral for the body to form hemoglobin and myoglobin, which are major components in the transport of oxygen and carbon dioxide. Vitamin C as an antioxidan has a positive effect on immune function and also helps the body absorb iron more easily. So to reduce the risk of anemia, by fulfilling daily protein and then eating foods rich in vitamin C and combining them with iron sources.

Abstract

Workplace nutrition interventions have become a popular approach to improving employee health and well-being. Nonetheless, such interventions require special attention to ethical aspects to ensure participant well-being, research integrity, and long-term benefits. A literature review was carried out using leading research databases, such as PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar. Keywords used include "ethical considerations", "workplace", "nutritional intervention", and "study". Only studies published within the last ten years were included in this review. Each study was analyzed to identify common ethical issues and actions taken to address those issues. The results of the review indicate that key ethical issues in workplace nutrition intervention studies include participant privacy and confidentiality, informed consent, balancing risks and benefits, and potential bias and conflicts of interest. Some studies suggest that employees may feel pressured to participate because of company policies or social expectations. Additionally, several studies revealed deficiencies in data protection and transparency regarding the use of participant data. From the results of the review, it is important to ensure that informed consent is provided clearly and free from pressure. Studies must also ensure the protection of participants' privacy and confidentiality. Furthermore, there is a need to carefully assess the risks and benefits of any nutritional intervention, as well as avoid potential bias in research design and implementation. This review suggests that ethics in studies of workplace nutrition interventions require significant attention. Best practices include strong informed consent, privacy protection, and careful risk evaluation.

Abstract

Breastfeeding is one of the best ways to provide nutrition to babies. Apart from that, breastfeeding also provides many benefits for health, such as reducing the risk of breast and ovarian cancer. However, not all mothers can breastfeed optimally, this can be caused by various factors. This review aims to discuss the role of nutrition in improving the health of breastfeeding mothers and children. Research results show that ensuring breastfeeding mothers receive sufficient nutrition to support healthy breast milk production can improve health outcomes for both mother and child. There are various factors that affect the nutritional intake of breastfeeding mothers, including knowledge about breastfeeding nutrition, dietary habits, the mother's busy activity, and social support. Adequate nutrition during the breastfeeding period can significantly reduce the likelihood of mothers suffering from fatigue, anemia, and depression. Similarly, infants who receive sufficient breast milk are less likely to experience stunting, infections, and other chronic illnesses.

Abstract

Stunting is a condition where a child’s length or height is shorter for their age due to chronic malnutrition and recurrent infections that occur in the first 1000 days of life. Based on data from the Ministry of Health, the stunting rate in Indonesia in 2023 was recorded at 21.5 percent, only down 0.1 percent from the previous year which was 21.6 percent. The high prevalence of stunting has serious implications for the nation's economic welfare. This research aims to examine stunting prevention in terms of the economic welfare of a nation. This research uses a narrative review method. The phenomenon of stunting carries profound implications for a nation’s health and economic well-being. Children who experience stunting are predisposed to a higher risk of chronic illnesses, exhibit lower intelligence quotients, and are likely to be less productive in their adult years. These factors can impede the trajectory of a nation’s economic advancement and amplify the strain on its public health infrastructure. From an economic perspective, this manifests as a reduction in income per capita, an escalation in healthcare costs, and a deceleration in economic growth. This underscores the urgent need to address stunting in order to safeguard the future prosperity of the nation.
