Abstract

Between 15 September and 20 November 2024, this study conducted an ethnography of Nagajuang and Batang Natal languages. Sample of 35 first semester students from Nagajuang and Batang Natal was used as the research method of linguistic ethnography. Based on the theory that is employed, is Speaking. Ethnographic linguistic analysis results vary from region to region. One example of the results of the analysis is the setting: the word "Bagak" is used in a particular socio-cultural context. Scene, konteks budaya, penghargaan identitas, dan status sosial Participants are compliments from older people to younger people or vice versa. End (E), giving compliments and increasing individual self-confidence. Act Sequence (A) allows the communication process to begin with someone looking at or interacting with another person, then expressing words with a good tone of praise. Key (K) Instrumentalities, such as smiles, acknowledging gazes, or body movements that support positive expressions, come from the word "Bagak." Standards of Interaction (N) Elegance and politeness, formal and non-formal genres.

Abstract

Code switching is a linguistic phenomenon caused by bilingual events and the existence of bilingualism in society. Code mixing is a language event that mixes two or more languages or varieties of languages in a language act. In general, in the teaching and learning process at MTs Negeri 2 Padangsidimpuan, teachers and students always use code switching and code mixing in their speech. This is done so that the teaching and learning process can be understood by both teachers and students. In the realm of education, we can still see code switching and code mixing, especially in the teaching and learning process in schools. This happens because school residents master more than one language. This research aims to determine the effect of Indonesian language teachers' code switching and code mixing on the language skills of class VIII students at MTs Negeri 2 Padangsidimpuan. The theories that support this research consist of sociolinguistics, bilingualism, code switching, code mixing, and indicators of the independent variables in this research. This type of research is field research using a quantitative approach, namely direct research carried out in the field or on respondents. The data collection technique used was a questionnaire. Sampling in this study used a random sampling technique with a sample size of 65 students determined using the Taro Yamane formula. The data analysis method used to obtain the results of the research hypothesis is the multiple linear regression test, t-test and F-test. The results show that there is an influence of Indonesian language teachers' code switching and code mixing on the language skills of class VIII students at MTs Negeri 2 Padangsidimpuan. When carrying out learning activities in class, students more often speak using code switching and code mixing in their speech, whether during presentations or during small discussions when learning is carried out. Abstract

This research is entitled "Identifying Persuasive Sentences in Negotiation Texts Using Learning Models Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) Class X Students of SMK N 1 Batang Angkola”. The aim of this research is to describe the ability to identify persuasive sentences in negotiation texts using a learning model Kooperatif Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) students. This research method uses quantitative methods with a descriptive approach. The population in this study were all class X students at SMK Negeri 1 Batang Angkola, totaling 279 students. The sample used in this research was 36 students of class random sampling. The data collection technique uses 10 multiple choice questions and 5 fill-in-the-blank questions. The research results show differences in the average scores for variables X and Y. The average score for variable After the data is analyzed it can be stated that N=36 with X= 2920, Y= 2655,2= 243000, AND2= 200825, so XY = 218000. Then looking at the average, it can be shown that X= 81.11, Y= 73.752= 6750, AND2= 5578.47 XY = 6055.5. This is based on hypothesis testing carried out on the data found, namely the hypothesis obtained that the rxy value is 0.477 so that when compared with the r table, namely (0.477 0.339), the hypothesis in this study is accepted.Keywords: Persuasive Sentences, Negotiation Texts, CIRC Learning.

Abstract

The Independent Curriculum has inspired profound changes in the Indonesian education system, emphasizing the importance of adapting to technological advancements. This research aims to explore how the digitalization of Indonesian language learning can be a crucial strategy in forming excellent students in line with the spirit of the Independent Curriculum. The research methodology used is a quantitative survey approach. The main findings indicate that the integration of technology in Indonesian language learning has a positive impact on the accessibility of learning materials, students' language abilities, and character development. These results reinforce the idea that digital learning can be an effective means to enhance the quality of Indonesian language education. Practical implications include the development of relevant digital content, training for educators in integrating technology, and collaboration among various stakeholders. Recommendations for further development include further research on practical barriers, the development of diverse digital content, collaborative efforts in digital infrastructure development, and continuous evaluation of the implementation of digitalization in Indonesian language learning

Abstract

AbstractThis research aims to determine the effect of using audio visual media on the poetry writing skills of class VIII MTs students. Muhammadiyah 22 Padangsidimpuan Academic Year 2024-2025. This research method uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The population in this study were all students in class VIII MTs. Muhammadiyah 22 Padangsidimpuan has 72 students, consisting of 24 students in class VIII-A, 24 students in VIII-B, and 24 students in VIII-C. The research sample used was from class VIII-C, totaling 24 students. The data collection technique uses a multiple choice test consisting of 10 questions and 5 description questions. The research results show differences in the average values for variables X and Y. The average value for variable X is 78.75, while the value for the test results for variable Y is 86.25. These results show that there is a significant influence from the use of audio-visual media on poetry writing skills, in other words Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. Keywords: Audiovisual, Writing, Poetry.

Abstract

Indonesian language learning in the digital era offers significant potential for enhancing students' character. This research explores digital exploration in the context of Indonesian language learning with a focus on improving student character. Qualitative research methods are used with a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach based on the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses (PRISMA). Findings from this research highlight the importance of digital literacy, the use of conventional and digital media, and integrated language learning management with a 21st-century approach. The research indicates that the integration of digital technology in Indonesian language learning can enhance creativity, self-directed learning, and students' adaptability skills. However, challenges such as critical thinking inability, declining writing skills, and the effectiveness of online learning are also encountered. Recommendations for future research include further studies on the effectiveness of specific digital media, the development of innovative learning models, and the analysis of trends and innovations in the use of digital technology. Suggestions for educational practitioners include digital literacy training, the development of integrated curricula, and collaboration with technology industries to strengthen the implementation of digital technology in Indonesian language learning.

Abstract

Critical thinking skills is one of the skills that are needed in studying the text news. Considering the amount of news that appears every day in various media such as television, internet, and mass media others with various themes ranging from events that occur in society up to the information global challenges of various parts of the world. The goal of this research is to create accurate and valid news text instruments. Research and Development (RD) using the 4D model is the methodology employed in this study. Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate are some of the stages. The study's findings show that the news text instrument produced is practical to use. Because it is greater than 0.325 and the reliability is greater than 0.6, the empirical validation results indicate that there are 15 valid claims.

Abstract

  Abstract The purpose of this study is to identify the issues that students have when communicating in English. Students in grade XI are the subject of this study, which is being conducted using a Descriptive Qualitative Method. Test and interview are used to gather research data. The results show that the students experience a lot of difficulties. The causes of this problem are vocabulary, self-confidence, pronunciation, and anxiety. One of the most important components of the problems that exist is pronunciation, because they are unable to accurately pronounced the use of English Language. Keywords: Speaking

Abstract

Phrase means a language unit that exists in one sentence function and consists of two or more terms. The research entitled "Analysis of the Use of Phrases in Short Story 'Kucing Yang Selalu Lapar' Karya Mas Kahfi" aims to identify the types of phrases, clauses, and sentences used in the short story. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method to collect and describe the data, which consists of various types of phrases found in the story. The researchers followed a read and write technique, where they first read thestoryandthenrecordedtheresultsoftheiranalysis.Thisstudyisuniqueinthatitfocuses specifically on analyzing the use of phrases, unlike previous studies that have only examined syntax in general. The researchers identified several types of phrases in the stories, including verbal phrases, numeral phrases, adverbial phrases, noun phrases, adjective phrases, and adjective phrases.This study aims to analyze the use of phrases in the short story "The Cat Who Is Always Hungry" by Lena D. The analysis focuses on identifying the types, structures, and functions of phrases used in the text, including noun phrases, verb phrases, adjective phrases, adverbial phrases, and prepositional phrases. Using a qualitative descriptive method, the data were collected through careful reading and annotation of the short story. The results show that Lena D. extensively uses noun and verb phrases to vividly describe characters and actions, while adverbial and prepositional phrases serve to enhance spatial and temporal settings in the narrative. The use of varied phrase structures contributes significantly to the expressive style and thematic depth of the story, creating a captivating and immersive reading experience. This research highlights the importance of phrase analysis in understanding an author's linguistic creativity and storytelling techniques.Keywords : phrases, syntax, short story, the always hungry cat.

Abstract

A very important learning resource in supporting learning in the classroom is textbooks. SMP Negeri 1 Puncak Sorik Marapi makes textbooks the main learning resource. Textbooks must be understandable and comprehensible to students to support a teaching programme. The textbook that is the object of this research is the Indonesian language textbook for class VII of the independent curriculum at SMP Negeri 1 Puncak Sorik Marapi, Mandailing Natal Regency. The purpose of this research is to find out how the readability of discourse in Indonesian textbooks grade VII of the independent curriculum through the fry chart formula at SMP Negeri 1 Puncak Sorik Marapi. This type of research is descriptive qualitative research. The data collection techniques used are observation and text study. The data analysis techniques used in this research are descriptive qualitative techniques and the fry chart formula. The discourse that becomes the sample in this research is 15 discourses. The results of this study show that there are 9 discourses that do not match the readability with grade VII and 6 discourses are appropriate. From the results obtained, it is concluded that the Indonesian language textbook for grade VII of the independent curriculum is not suitable for grade VII. . Keywords: Readability, Wacana, Fry Graph
