Abstract

This study aims to improve students’ speaking abilities trough creative story in 9GAG application. The method used in research is a quantitative method with Quasi Experimental as a research design. Both pre-test and post-test used as the instruments in collecting the data. The writer used two classes of ninth grade of MTs Al-Islamiyah, Tangerang for the population. The sampling technique used was cluster sampling in which 9.4 was determined as experimental class and 9.5 as the control class. The data was analyzed statistically by using t-test. The result of this analysis indicated that the average value of the students was 70.33, the statistical calculation showed that the results of to (t-observation)> tt (t-table) in which to obtained was 19.24 while the value of tt was 2.015 with a significant level of 5% (0.05), since, to was higher than tt, therefore alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted while null hypothesis was rejected. From these analysis results, this research summarized that 9GAG Application was an effective media to improve students’ speaking skill.

Abstract

-This research was conducted due to the lack of motivation and speaking skills of students in class XI TKR 2 SMKN 2 Bangkalan.. The purpose of this research was to increase the motivation and speaking skills of students in class XI TKR 2 SMKN 2 Bangkalan by applying the role playing method. This study consisted of 2 cycles, starting from planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. The research subjects were all students of class XI TKR 2 SMKN 2 Bangkalan totaling 28 people. The instruments used were student motivation observation sheets and speaking competency tests using quantitative analysis techniques. The results of observations of student motivation in the first cycle 55.7% and in the second cycle 76% increased 20.3%. The results of student le-arning achievement are indicated by the increasing number of students who complete their studies. In the first cycle the classical completeness was 53.6%, increasing by 28.5% to 82.1%. From the research results, it can be concluded that the role playing method can increase the motivation and learning achievement of class XI TKR 2 SMKN 2 Bangkalan..

Abstract

Writing is one of the basic skills of the English language. It is usually considered one of the most difficulty skill than other skills of foreign language students. Even native speakers feel difficulty in showing good command of writing. In writing, the students need to acquire those first ideas to make sure what they want to write. They have to write about what they think in their mind and state it on paper by using the correct rules. In this research researcher use problem based learning method in teaching writing. The objective of this research to investigate the influence of problem based learning on the studnts’ writing skill in hortatory exposition text at eleventh grade of SMA Saidiyah Arosbaya. In conducting data, the researcher used quasi- experimental design. The population of this research was eleventh grade of SMA Saidiyah Arosbaya and sample were XI IPS 1 as experimental class and XI IPS 2 as control class. The result of this research based on the analysis data of Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) test from SPSS 17.0, the result of ANCOVA test from p-value was 0.035. It was less than the level of significant (0,05). If p-value<from the level of significant (0,05). It showed that the alternative hypothesis (Ha)was accepted and null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected.

Abstract

This study aims to know the implementation of Screencast O’matic video in teaching learning listening class, the researcher was chosen video screencast O’matic as media to deliver the material to the students. This study was descriptive qualitative research and conducted on Jun 21th – 22th, 2020. The participants of this research were the English teacher and the students of X IPA 1 at SMAS Islam YKHS Sepulu. The data were obtained by observing the students, the teacher, and the implementation of Screencast O’matic video in the listening class by making a transcript and screenshot of the result. The research finding indicates that the students like Screencast O’matic video because help them to know and learned about how to summarize, find the main idea from the video narrative, get a new vocabulary, how to speak like a native speaker and so on. The result of the observation indicates that the implementation of Screencast O’matic video in listening class makes the students more enthusiastic about the material and they can deliver what they have been heard from the video using their own words. Thus, Screencast O’matic video can be used as one of the alternative media for teaching students’ listening skill in a fun way.

Abstract

Speaking is again can be seen as a skill which is very difficult to be taught, learnt and observed. Since its urgency in making meaningful communication between students, this research is conducted within the pandemic situation. Mostly teachers are reluctant even left the students with their own speaking ability without any constructive ideas or strategies to overcome this crucial problems. The researcher’s taught is blowing with tis condition and it is important to investigate the phenomena of how speaking skill taught especially in Junior High School moreover within this new normal era. With its all limitation, this research focus on only to see how the teacher teaches students in term of speaking skill. The method of this research is qualitative that observation and interpretation are mostly used to obtain the data for detailed results and discussion. The observation is done to see the real phenomena happened within the classroom while the teaching and learning process is running, and there is no any intervention from the researcher at all. While the interpretation is done to reveal the condition how is actually the speaking skill is taught following minimum standard of how actually speaking skill be given in Junior High School level. The results and discussion have shown that the teacher implements collaborative work and maximize the feedback to improve students’ exposure to certain spoken language from them. However, this kind of finding is yet constructively help students with their speaking. It still needs a lot of adequate strategies to explore the students’ speaking skill to the fullest.

Abstract

The study aims to know the kinds of bilingualism classrooms. The research design of the study was qualitative which focuses on a case study. This study focused on Colin’s theory about the kinds of bilingualism programs, they are bilingual programs, structured immersion, enrichment programs, and transitional programs. The data were obtained by observing the teacher and students in the videos teaching-learning process in bilingualism classroom by making a transcript. The result of the research finding revealed that there are only three kinds of bilingualism program of videos, the first bilingual program, second enrichment program, and the third transitional program.

Abstract

Nowadays, the Corona virus outbreak has made a huge change in education, especially for the teaching-learning process. Lecturers should do teaching from home and the students should do learning from home. Both the students and the lecturer just stay at home, they could not go to campus and office to do offline teaching- learning process to keep away from the spread of corona virus. Whether one likes it or not, all the lecturers should create an fascinating and innovative distance learning class. Some online learning platforms have been available on the internet that can help teacher in delivering their materials, for examples Google Classroom, Edmodo, Kahoot, and many others. In addition, there are some video conference applications for doing video call on the distance learning, for example Zoom, skype, Cisco WebEx, Google Meet and many others. As a lecturer, we could choose which online learning platforms we are going to apply in our distance learning class. This study focuses on students’ perceptions of distance learning quality during the outbreak of covid 19. The research involved 70 participants consist of students of the cultivation of plantation crops Department in the fourth semester in the Agricultural Production, Politeknik Negeri Jember. The data collection techniques used in this research consisted of questionnaire, and interviews and were analyzed using the qualitative methods approach. The results of the study revealed that the majority of participants considered exciting and enthusisastic the distance learning in Applied English course.

Abstract

Writing is one of the English skills that is considered difficult for senior high school students, especially SMAN 1 Bangkalan. The researcher tried to find out the significant increase between folklore animation videos and the conventional method from pre-test to post-test using independent t-test. In this quasi-experimental research, the researcher tried to find out how far the effect of animated folklore videos on the ability to write narrative texts of class XI students of SMAN 1 Bangkalan. In conducting the research, the writer used a quasi-experimental study by collecting data through pre-test, double treatment, and post-test. The research topic consisted of 148 students for the population and was divided into XI E (16 males and 13 females) and XI B (16 males and 14 females). The data were statistically calculated using an independent t-test to find differences in performance between students taught using animated folklore videos and students taught using conventional methods. Then it was found that the significance level was 0.01 or 1% and the observed t value was higher than the critical t value (3.1 > 2.756), which means H_1 is accepted and H_0 is rejected. In conclusion, the use of Animated Folklore Video in teaching narrative writing is appropriate, and the researcher suggests that this media be applied in real-world classroom teaching.

Abstract

Background of this research is listening teaching model used by teachers are stillteacher’s center and it haven’t given chance for students’development well. Problem in thisresearch is which one more dominant between teaching model of CIRC and Cooperative scriptto result study of XII grade students ?. The purpose of the research is to knowwhich one moredominant between teaching model of CIRC and Cooperative script to result study of XII gradestudents ?. Research method uses Descriptive Quantitative Approach because in this researchuses one variable,sympthom that are researched naturallyand the result will be takenquantitatively. Sampling method that used is cluster sampling. The sample taken just 64 studentsof XII grade SMAN 1 Kwanyar. Analysis method is using Paired sample T - test and one wayANOVA. The formula to look for validity value in the research is Product Moment Correlation(Pearson). Instruments in the research issome questions given orally. Result of the researchbased on first trying hypothesis by using SPSS show result 0,000 < 0,05 it can be concludedthat CIRC model have a significant influencing to studying achievement of listening. Thesecond trying hypothesis also get the same value it means that Cooperative script model alsohas a significant influencing to listening achievement. On the third trying hypothesis by usingone way ANOVA got result value 0,020 < 0,05 So it can be concluded that cooperative scripthas higher influence than CIRC. Mean of using cooperative script is 79,20 while CIRC get mean75,10.

Abstract

This study aims to solve the students’ problem in speaking session. The participants of the studyare fifteen students of the seventh grade of Darul Hikmah Junior High. By implementing gallerywalk, the students are observed upon their liveliness and initiative in speaking or presenting theirperformance during the learning process. In conclusion, this technique has been proven as thetrigger for students’ speaking ability. The researcher has got the result that during the learningprocess that was implemented by the gallery walk technique, the students have more motivationand brave to speak up in front of their friends and teachers. The objective of this study is also todescribe the implementation of modified gallery walk technique can contribute a great benefit tothe student enthusiasm in speaking English. The learners can engage and understand the topicdiscussed well and build more interaction with another learner. This study has been drawn thestudents get into the point of teaching material better by taking on this technique. The collectivedata were analyzed and observed that Gallery Walk Technique is one of potential teachingstrategies as an active-learning process
