Abstract

Ectoparasites which often attack tilapia include Trichodina sp., Dactylogyrus spp., Gyrodactylus spp., and Epistylis spp. This research aims to determine the types, prevalence, and intensity of ectoparasites found on tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) in the floating net cages of Batanghari River, Jambi. The research was conducted from February through March 2020. A survey method is carried out through direct sampling at the study site to identify the tilapia ectoparasites. The sampling technique is done using random sampling. Ninety fish were taken for parasite inspection at the Fish Quarantine, Quality Control, and Safety of Fishery Products Class I Jambi Station. The observations found three types of ectoparasites namely Dactylogyrus sp., Epistylis sp., and Oodinium sp. The highest ectoparasite prevalence rate was found from the species Epistylis sp. with a value of 37.7% and an intensity value of 24.7 ind/fish. The prevalence of Dactylogyrus sp. was 26.6% and an intensity value of 1.3 ind/fish. The lowest prevalence value was from Oodinium sp. with a prevalence value of 7.7% and an intensity value of 3.2 ind/fish. The prevalence and intensity values of tilapia ectoparasites based on their locations were 56.6% and 23 ind/fish (station I), 50% and 18.6 ind/fish (station II) and 43.3% and 17.6 ind/fish (station III). The types of ectoparasites found on tilapia in this study were Epistylis sp., Oodinium sp., and Dactilogyrus sp. Abstract

Abstract. The main problem in vaname shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei culture is a disease. One of the diseases that can infect vaname shrimp is White Feces Disease (WFD) caused by bacteria Vibrio sp. The Treatment can be done by using Red galangal Rhizome extract. Since MBC testing result galangal extract can be a treat of Vibrio sp bacteria. This research used the completely randomized design (RAL) with five treatments and three replications which treatment A (negative control),          B (positive control), C (7.5 grams), D (10 grams) and (12.5 grams) which are mixed with pellet for treating White Feces Disease in vaname shrimp. The result shows that red galangal rhizome extracted give effect to SR (Survival Rate), RPS (Relative Percent Survival), TVC (Total Vibrio Count), but it didn’t give effect to clinical indication and   histopathology.Keywords: vaname shrimp, white feces disease, extract red galangal Rhizome Abstrak. Permasalahan utama dalam budidaya udang vaname (Litopenaeus vannamei) adalah penyakit, salah satu penyakit yang dapat menyerang udang vaname yaitu White Feces Disease (WFD) yang disebabkan bakteri Vibrio sp. Upaya pengobatan yang dapat dilakukan untuk menangani penyakit tersebut adalah dengan pengobatan menggunakan ekstrak rimpang lengkuas merah dikarenakan ekstrak lengkuas telah diuji secara MBC dapat mematikan bakteri Vibrio sp. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji ekstrak rimpang lengkuas merah dengan dosis berbeda yang dicampur dengan pakan buatan untuk mengobati penyakit white feces disease pada udang vaname (Litopenaeus vannamei). Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan lima perlakuan, tiga ulangan dimana perlakuan A (kontrol negatif), perlakuan B (kontrol positif), perlakuan C (7,5 g), perlakuan D (10 g) dan perlakuan E (12,5 g). Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa ekstrak rimpang lengkuas merah berpengaruh terhadap SR, RPS (Relative Percent Survival) dan TVC (Total Vibrio Count), namun tidak berpengaruh terhadap gejala klinis dan histopatalogi. Abstract

Abstract. The issue of mercury pollution in Aceh waters, Indonesiadue to gold mining activities hasbeen a polemic in local media and Aceh Local Government and the communities have much concern on this case. The impact of mercury pollution in the Teunom and Tangse (Aceh)rivers was often assumed that it has similarity with Minamatapollution in Japan. This article intends to enlighten the characteristic mercury either as elements or compounds including methyl mercury which is highly toxic. Gold mining using elemental mercury is poorly soluble in water, the solubility is only 0.06 g per ton of mercury but the solubility can increase indark the sea-bed and ina lot of dissolved oxygen. Based on the properties of solubility, it is understood that the mercury levels in the Teunom and Tangse rivers still below the tolerance limit, but the gold mining activities still bringsthe risk of environmental damage especially inadequate supervision. Many researchers were trying to prove the natural conversionfrom mercury into methyl mercury (biomethylation) but they usedthe salt instead of the elemental mercury in their experiments. Methyl mercury is found in nature, but the process mercury conversion into methyl mercury compound is still controversial and it has not obtained adequate evidence for the natural alteration,therefore gold pollution which is due to releasing elemental mercury into environment might not be analogue to Minamata case.Keywords: Aceh; Methyl-mercury; Minamata; Mining; Gold Abstrak. Informasi pencemaran merkuri di perairan Aceh dan kaitannya dengan aktivitas pertambangan emas telah menjadi polemik sehingga menjadi perhatian Pemda Aceh dan Masyarakat. Dampak pencemaran merkuri di Sungai Teunom dan Tangse sering dianalogikan dengan kasus pencemaran merkuri di teluk Minamata, Jepang. Artikel ini bermaksud memberi pencerahan kharakteristik merkuri baik sebagai unsur maupun sebagai senyawa seperti metil merkuri yang sangat beracun. Penambangan emas menggunakan unsur merkuri yang sukar larut dalam air, kelarutannya hanya 0,06 g per ton unsur merkuri  namun kelarutannya dapat meningkat jika di dasar laut yang gelap dan banyak oksigen terlarut. Berdasarkan sifat kelarutannya, dapat dipahami bahwa kadar merkuri di Sungai Teunom masih di bawah batas toleransi, namun aktivitas penambangan emas tetap saja memiliki resiko kerusakan lingkungan apalagi jika tidak mendapat pengawasan yang memadai. Banyak peneliti berusaha membuktikan perubahan merkuri menjadi metil merkuri (biometilasi) tetapi mereka menggunakan garam merkuri dan bukan unsur merkuri dalam ekperimen mereka. Metil merkuri memang ditemukan di alam tetapi proses perubahan dari senyawa merkuri menjadi metil merkuri masih diperdebatkan dan belum diperoleh bukti yang kuat perubahan dari unsur merkuri menjadi metil merkuri dalam air sehingga di Peraian Aceh belum tentu tercemar metil merkuri sebagaimana kasus Minamata.Kata kunci: Aceh; metil-merkuri; minamata; penambangan; emas

Abstract

Mangrove, Rhizophora mucronata, grows in the intertidal area, which contains much organic matter and varying salinity. The organic matter content is influenced by the bacterial community that inhabits the ecosystem, but information regarding the bacterial community, especially in the mangrove root system, is not widely available. There are several challenges in completing this information, one of which is that the method used is still in a conventional form. Developments in environmental DNA analysis can support and complement this information. However, this method must be optimized because the organic matter content and salt variations affect the extraction results. Thus, this study aimed to determine the optimal approach for extracting bacterial DNA from mangrove sediments. The analysis used two methodologies: manual DNA extraction techniques based on buffer modification and DNA extraction kits. There were four different treatments, namely the soil DNA isolation plus kit (M1), the fecal / soil microbial quick-DNA miniprep kit (M2), glass powder with charcoal (M3), and glass powder with skimmed milk (M4). DNA samples were obtained from each method and assessed for concentration and purity using a nanodrop. In addition, the resulting DNA's quality was analyzed using 1.5% agarose. The results obtained were in the M2 treatment, which showed optimal results compared to the others. M2 uses a bead-based beating and spin column method to achieve optimal DNA concentration through high molecular weight. Abstract

Contamination and pollution of heavy metals in the bottom sediment can pose serious issues to marine organisms and human health. Jakarta Bay which is located adjacent to the capital city of Indonesia is notorious for its pollution problems. The purpose of this research was to assest the contamination levels of heavy metals Hg, Pb, and Cd in sea-bottom sediments based on an index analysis approach (contamination factors, geo accumulation index, pollution load index). Sediment samples were collected from 31 stations in Jakarta Bay. Heavy metal concentration was measured using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS). The results showed that an average mercury (Hg) concentration ranged from 0.150 to 0.530 µg.g-1 with an total average of 0.362 µg.g-1, Lead (Pb) from 14.870 to 35.650 µg.g-1 with an total average of 21.774 µg.g-1, Cadmium (Cd) 0.110-0.280 µg.g-1 with an total average of 0.190 µg.g-1.The average concentration of Hg, Pb, and Cd is still lower than the sediment quality threshold values set by the Office of the State Minister of Environment of Indonesia  2010. The results of the index analysis showed that the average value of contamination factor (CF) are Hg 0.685, Pb 0.558, and Cd 0.380 respectively (low contamination) and geo accumulation index values are Hg 0.237, Pb -1.655, and Cd 0.069 respectively (unpolluted to moderate polluted). Overall, based on the pollution load index value is -0,511 (PLI 1), sediments in these waters are categorized as not yet polluted by Hg, Pb and Cd. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menilai tingkat kontaminasi logam berat Hg, Pb dan Cd dalam sedimen dasar laut berdasarkan pendekatan analisis indeks. Contoh sedimen diambil dari 31 stasiun penelitian di Teluk Jakarta. Kadar logam berat diukur dengan alat Spektrofometer Penyerapan Atom. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kadar Hg rerata berkisar 0,150-0,530 µg. g-1 dengan rerata total 0,362 µg. g-1, Timbal (Pb) 14,870-35,650 µg. g-1 dengan rerata total 21,774 µg. g-1, Kadmium (Cd) 0,110-0,280 µg. g-1 dengan rerata total 0,190 µg.g-1. Kadar rerata Hg, Pb dan Cd masih lebih rendah dari nilai ambang batas kualitas sedimen yang ditetapkan oleh Kantor Menteri Negara Lingkungan Hidup Indonesia 2010. Hasil analisis indeks menunjukkan nilai rerata faktor kontaminasi (CF) berturut-turut adalah Hg 0,685, Pb 0,352 dan Cd 0,380 (kontaminasi rendah) dan nilai indeks geo akumulasi berturut-turut adalah Hg 0,227, Pb 1,098 dan Cd 0,633 (tidak tercemar sampai tercemar sedang). Secara keseluruhan, berdasarkan nilai indeks beban pencemaran yakni -3.772 (PLI 1), sedimen di perairan ini termasuk kategori belum tercemar oleh Hg, Pb dan Cd. Abstract

The objective of the study was to analyze the policy of increasing the effectiveness of providing PUMP funds to fishermen groups in Kota Banda Aceh. Mina Rural Business Development Program (PUMP) was one of the models developed by the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries to overcome poverty for coastal communities. From the previous research data, it was known that PUMP funding is considered ineffective because there were still many people who did not benefit from this PUMP fund and the improper use of PUMP funds targeted by beneficiary communities. To improve the effectiveness of PUMP funding, it was necessary to do in the policy analysis on the effectiveness of this PUMP fund. Analysis Hierarchy process (AHP) was used to look at the policies to be used for the effectiveness of PUMP grants. The method of collecting data was the interview or deep interview with policymakers in DKP Aceh Province, with NGOs and academics in Banda Aceh. The Results of Analysis Hierarchy process shows the criteria that mainly influence the increasing effectiveness of PUMP funding assistance to the fishermen economy are human resources, followed by time and human resources. While the policy priority of increasing the effectiveness of PUMP funding to the fishermen economy is to increase the capacity of the fishermen's supervisor, followed by management financial training of fishermen and intensively monitoring post-aid activities.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kebijakan peningkatan efektivitas pemberian bantuan dana PUMP pada kelompok nelayan di Kota Banda Aceh. Program Pengembangan Usaha Mina Pedesaan (PUMP) merupakan salah satu model yang dikembangkan oleh Dirjen Perikanan Kelautan (DKP) untuk menggulangi kemiskinan bagi masyarakat pesisir. Dari data penelitian sebelumnya, diketahui bahwa bantuan dana PUMP ini dinilai tdak efektif karena masih banyaknya masyarakat yang tidak memperoleh manfaat dari dana PUMP ini dan penggunaan dana PUMP yang tidak tepat sasaran oleh masyarakat penerima bantuan. Untuk meningkatkan efektivitas pemberian dana PUMP tersebut maka perlu dilakukan di analisa kebijakan tentang efektivitas pembarian dana PUMP ini. Analisis Hirarki Proses digunakan untuk melihat kebijakan yang akan digunakan untuk efektivitas pemberian dana PUMP. Metode pengambilan data adalah wawancara atau deep interview dengan pengambil kebijakan yang ada di DKP Provinsi Aceh, dengan LSM yang ada di banda Aceh serta dengan pihak akademisi yang ada di Banda Aceh. Hasil yang didapat adalah Hasil Analisis Hirarki Proses menunjukkan kriteria yang paling mempengaruhi peningkatan efektivitas pemberian bantuan dana PUMP terhadap perekonomian nelayan adalah kriteria sumberdaya manusia, kriteria waktu dan kriteria SDM. Sedangkan prioritas kebijakan peningkatan efektivitas pemberian bantuan dana PUMP terhadap perekonomian nelayan adalah peningkatan kapasitas tenaga pembimbing diurutan pertama, diikuti pelatihan manajemen pengelolaan keuangan nelayan dan pemantauan secara intensif kegiatan pasca penyaluran bantuan. Sedangkan kriteria yang paling mempengaruhi peningkatan efektivitas pemberian bantuan dana PUMP terhadap perekonomian nelayan adalah kriteria sumberdaya manusia, kriteria waktu dan kriteria SDM.

Abstract

The aims of the present paper were to evaluate the potential impacts of climate change on reproduction of crustacea. Climate change has given an impact on water quality, especially temperature changes and pH reduction. The increase in temperature due to climate change was expected affect on reproductive of crustacea including the sex ratio atio, reproductive cycle, gametogenesis and increased enhancement effects of pesticides that can interfere with reproduction of Crustacea. This paper provides the impact of climate changes on the productive of crustacea the important aqauatic organism on the food chains.

Abstract

Heavy metal pollution is one of the problems that often occurs in Indonesian coastal waters. Comparative methods of looking at heavy metal content in coastal sediments include a way to show similarities and differences between one or more articles by using certain criteria. Different comparison methods to see the heavy metal content in sediments include the AAS (Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer) method, AAN (Netron Activation Analysis), Regression, and USEPA methods. Based on the comparison of 2 methods, namely: AAS and AAN methods, the most efficient in analyzing heavy metals in sediments in coastal areas is the Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (AAS) method compared to the Neutron Activation Analysis (AAS) method.Keywords:CoastalSedimentHeavy MetalSpectrophotometer

Abstract

Abstract. The collection of 337 specimens of the Chromodoris species was conducted in Sabang island, Indonesia, from 2013 to 2019. The purpose of this study to investigate the biodiversity and their secondary metabolites related by molecular structures. There are 21 species together with the chemical diversity detected by MS/MS molecular networking approach. The results showed that the nudibranch species of C. willani and C. geometrica have the highest abundance species, while C. aureopurpurea has the lowest abundance species. The result of the chemical investigation showed that the class of diterpene derivatives was found from all specimens of Chromodoris genus in Sabang island, the western part of the Indonesian Archipelago.Keywords: Nudibranch, biodiversity, chemical diversity, MS/MS molecular networking, Chromodoris genus

Abstract

Pollution has become the serious problem in aquatic ecosystems in Indonesia including east part of the coastal area of Surabaya City. One of the methods that can be used to analyze water quality in the coastal area is pollution index method. The method can provide information related to existing water quality in respect of utilization plan. The purpose of this study is to analyze the water quality in the coastal area in East part of Surabaya City based on the physical and chemical parameters, and then, analyze the data using pollution index method. The sampling points of this study are 10 areas in the coastal area in East Part of Surabaya City. The result of this study showed that the water parameters in the sampling points are described as follows: salinity (23.2 ± 7.33‰), pH (7.156 ± 0.356), dissolved oxygen (9.46 ± 3.364 mg/L), temperature (29 ± 1.4 °C), total suspended solid (91.9 ± 109.3 mg/L), fisibility  (25.15 ± 8.9 cm), ammonia (1.3 ± 1.1 mg/L), nitrate (0.095 ± 0.14 mg/L) dan biological oxygen demand (3.738 ± 0.956 mg/L). This study indicated that the value of pollution index in East Part of Surabaya City coastal area is 4.6 that indicated the areas are slightly polluted.Pencemaran merupakan sebuah permasalahan bagi sebagian besar wilayah perairan di Indonesia termasuk wilayah perairan di pesisir timur kota Surabaya. Salah satu cara untuk menganalisis kualitas perairan di wilayah pesisir adalah dengan menggunakan metode Indeks Pencemaran. Metode ini dapat memberikan informasi mengenai kondisi perairan sesuai peruntukannya. Tujuan dari penelitian adalah menganalisis kondisi perairan Pesisir Timur Kota Surabaya berdasarkan parameter fisika dan kimia serta menganalisa nilai indeks pencemaran Perairan Pesisir Timur Kota Surabaya. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan mengambil sampel di 10 titik di Perairan Pesisir Timur Kota Surabaya. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan nilai rata-rata parameter fisika dan kimia adalah sebagaimana berikut: salinitas 23,2 ± 7,33‰, derajat keasaman (pH) 7,156 ± 0,356, dissolved oxygen 9,46 ± 3,364 mg/L, suhu 29 ± 1,4 °C, total padatan tersuspensi 91,9 ± 109,3 mg/L, kecerahan 25,15 ±8,9 cm, amoniak 1,3 ± 1,1 mg/L, nitrat 0,095 ± 0,14 mg/L dan Biological Oxygen Demand 3,738 ± 0,956 mg/L.
