Abstract

Abstract. Light fishing in Pandeglang Banten has significantly developed in number of fishing fleet and using of lamp technology. The fishing ground of light fishing fleet dispersed from Labuan until Taman Nasional Ujung Kulon. The aim of this research is to map the fishing ground of light fishing using VIIRS-DNB data at August to November 2014. This research use descriptive analysis with case study on fishing ground of ligt fishing using VIIRS-DNB data in Pandeglang waters. The results show the fishing ground of light fishing at August to November spread from Lada Bay, Lesung Cape, Sumur District, selamat Datang Bay, until Panaitan Strait. In November, the numbers of fishing fleet have significantly decreased. The loft ofwind velocity in Sunda Strait caused big waves in Pandeglang waters. Moreover, light fishing fleet also move from coastal water to the sea to find the ideal depth. The fluctuation of fishing ground at August to November 2014 influenced by monsoon circulation that effectto current and water masses circulation there. It cause the changing of surface water fertility and influent to spreading of pelagic fish fishing ground as a main target of light fishing fleets in Pandeglang waters.Keyword: fishing ground; light fishing; Pandeglang; VIIRS-DNB Abstrak.

Abstract

Plastic waste continues to increase all the time without decreasing or ending, resulting in the sustainability and restoration of the mangrove ecosystem needing to be improved. The mangrove ecosystem is a place where plastic waste accumulates. The accumulation of plastic waste prevents photosynthesis in mangroves, reduces aquatic productivity and encourages microbial colonization. This research aims to identify the type abundance of plankton, waste and water quality. Sampling was carried out purposively from June to July 2023. STA 1 represents rivers, STA 2 was estuaries and STA 3 was coastal mangroves. Plankton, plastic waste and water quality samples were collected at the beginning of each month based on a 1x1 m2 plot. Furthermore, biological index calculations of plankton and the density of plastic waste were carried out and their relationship with water quality in each location. Mangroves in the village of Pagatan Besar are dominated by Avicennia marina, Avicennia alba, Bruguierra cylindrica and Rhizopora apiculata. The highest density of was in STA 3, but it was inversely proportional to the abundance and diversity of plankton due to the dense waste cover between the roots, mainly plastic materials. The most significant increase in marine waste accumulated in STA 3 from 6697 grams at the beginning of the observation to 13820 grams. The most significant composition of waste in STA 3 consists of plastic bottles and plastic cups. Cyanophyta, Chlorophyta and Chrysophyta are plankton phyla from the research location. Plankton identified there are three phyla in STA 1 and STA 2, while in STA 3, there are only 2. Cyanophyta, Chlorophyta and Chrysophyta are phyla plankton from the study site. The types of plankton that are always present in all STAs are Gonatozygon and Ulothrix from Chloropyta. The survival of plankton and mangroves is influenced by water temperature, pH, salinity, dissolved oxygen and the type of material density of macroplastic waste. Keywords:MacroplasticMangroveWater QualityPlankton

Abstract

Sea cucumber (Holothuria atra) was used as a reducing and capping agent in the green synthesis process to produce silver nanoparticles (AgNPs). The antioxidant activity of the generated silver nanoparticles was then evaluated. Seacucumber extract was mixed with the AgNO3 solution and homogenized using a magnetic stirrer to create the silver nanoparticles. It was determined that silver nanoparticle production had occurred using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. Before being examined for antioxidant activity, the generated nanoparticles were first given a characterizing using Fourier Transform Infra Red (FTIR) spectrometers. The maximum uptake was obtained at wavelengths of 440 cm-1 using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. Functional groups that play a role in the synthesis of nanoparticles were -OH- C=O, and –C-O groups. The free radical 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) with an absorbance maximum (517 nm) was used for antioxidant properties. The antioxidant assay showed that Silver nanoparticles had higher antioxidant activity than sea cucumber extract alone, with an IC50 value of 4 ppm. Keywords:AntioxidantSeacucumberGreen SynthesisSilver NanoparticlesDPPH

Abstract

The mortality of tinfoil barb during transportation is relatively high due to the oxygen consumption rate and excretion of these fishes. Therefore, the use of an appropriate anesthetic drug becomes one of the solutions for solving this transportation problem of tinfoil barb. One of the natural anesthetic drugs with potential to be studied is Chromolaena odorata leaves. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of anesthetic compounds from Chromolaena odorata leaves in the closed transportation of tinfoil barb. The experimental design used was a non-factorial completely randomized design that consisted of four treatments and three replications, then followed by a Tukey test to see if there was a significant difference. The experimental treatments were A (0 ml/L of leaves filtrate), B (80 ml/L of leaves filtrate), C (90 ml/L of leaves filtrate), and D (100 ml/L of leaves filtrate). The observed parameters were fish behavior towards unconscious condition, onset time, immotilization time, survival rate, and water quality. The results showed that the shortest onset time was obtained from treatment D (100 ml/L leaves filtrate), namely 58 minutes towards unconscious condition, then the longest immotilization time was also shown by treatment D, which was 371 minutes. The highest survival rates were also shown by treatment D which were 94,33% during transportation and 76,33% during culture. The water quality parameters during the experiment were in an optimum condition of tinfoil barb. Keywords:AnestheticChromolaenaodorataTransportationTinfoil barb

Abstract

Sanghyang Kenit Cave is a cave that has an aquatic environment and a potential habitat for plankton. Plankton can be a bioindicator of water because of its sensitivity to the environment. The purpose of this study was to determine the diversity, interrelationship factors, and linkages of plankton with the environment in the waters of Sanghyang Kenit Rajamandala Cave, West Bandung. This research was conducted from August 2021 to September 2022. The study employed a purposive sampling method, identifying three sampling zones (The Light, Twilight, and Dark zones) during morning, afternoon, and evening periods. Sampling was done by taking a sample of 10 liters and then filtering using plankton net. The Physico-chemical parameters measured included water temperature, light intensity, pH, DO, salinity, nitrate, and phosphate. Based on the results of data analysis found 4 classes with 12 plankton morphospecies. Diversity index values in the Light zone (1.10), Twilight zone (1.08), and dark zone (1.08). Abundance index value in the light zone is 2.537 cells/l, the twilight zone is 501 cells/l, and the dark zone is 29 cells/l. Diversity and plankton in the waters of Sanghyang Kenit Cave have a very strong correlation with water temperature, light intensity, and pH of water. This can be the basis for the development of further research on the management and monitoring of caves that are used as tourist attractions.KeywordsDiversityPlanktonSanghyang Kenit CaveEnvironment

Abstract

White snapper, Lates calcalifer, is a sea fish who was widely cultivated because the price reaches IDR 63,000.00/ kg for market size (500 gram up). Demand of white snapper on the market tends to increase, but there are high mortality problems when transporting seeds from seed sources to the destination location where was relatively far away. Lemongrass oil had geraniol compounds, citronellol and aromatherapy odors could reduce anxiety (sedatives) and reduce the level of fish metabolism by making the fish faint. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of lemongrass oil on survival rate, blood profile (total of erythrocytes, leukocytes, and glucose levels) post-transportation of white snapper seeds with length and weight average of 9.71 ± 0.62 cm and 11.33 ± 1.82 g, respectively. The method used was experimental and completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments 3 replications (0, 10, 20, 30 µl/L). The results showed that the allocation lemongrass oil with different concentrations gave a real effect on the survival rate but did not significantly affect the blood profile after transportation. The best concentration of lemongrass oil is 10 µl/L with survival rate of 100%.Keywords:AnesthesiaWhite snapperCymbopogon sp.Transportation

Abstract

River Continuum Concept (RCC) is an approach that describes the dynamic changes in the river system, the changes that occur are physical conditions (order of the river, canopy cover, and land use) and also the structure and function of communities. Functional feeding groups (FFG) of macroinvertebrates are related to environmental gradients in aquatic systems, including river ecosystem attributes. This study aimed to correlate the function of the macroinvertebrate communities with Cisadanes River headwater conditions based on RCC and also to estimate the attributes of the river ecosystem. This research was conducted in the headwaters of the Cisadane River, West Java-Indonesia. One of Cisadanes River headwaters was located in Mount Halimun-Salak National Park. Macroinvertebrates were collected from four sites inside the park (stations 1, 2, 3, and 4) and from two sites outside the park (stations 5 and 6). Collections were made twice a month, from April to June 2015 using a Surber sampler. The results showed that shredders and predators were relatively higher at stations inside the national park than at those outside the national park. While scrappers and collectors at stations located inside the national park were relatively lower than at stations outside the park. The value of the P/R ratio showed that all of the stations were heterotrophy. CPOM/FPOM ratio represents that shredder availability is high enough at stations inside the national park. While TFPOM/BFPOM ratio is slightly below the normal threshold value. HSI showed that the condition of the riverbed substrate stability is quite good. Composition changes of macroinvertebrates showed suitability with RCC. River ecosystem attributes and abiotic stream characteristics of Cisadanes River headwater support macroinvertebrate life and are in accordance with RCC.Keywords:EcologyMacroinvertebrateNational ParkRiparianRiver

Abstract

Singkil Swamp Wildlife Reserve is a peat swamp ecosystem located in Aceh Singkil Regency, Aceh Province. Peat swamp ecosystem has an important function in protecting and balancing water systems, carbon stocks and biodiversity conservation. However, information on the characteristics of the waters of this ecosystem is still not widely known, especially in the area of utilization that is influenced by community activities. This study aims to determine the aquatic environmental characteristics of the Singkil Swamp Wildlife Reserve utilization area covering the physical and chemical parameters of the water and the relationship among those parameters. Sampling was carried out through field observations both in-situ and ex-situ at 5 stations for 3 months (April-June 2021). Observations were made on water quality parameters namely temperature, transparency, depth, current, colour, salinity, water smell, pH, DO, TDS, TSS, conductivity, phosphate and nitrate. Analysis of the data was conducted, namely correlation analysis, PCA (Principal Component Analysis) and CA (Cluster Analysis). The water color was black and the pH was acidic, that is a characteristic of the swamp waters. The results of the measurement of water quality parameters indicate that TDS (13-44 mg/l), TSS (9-236 mg/l), total phosphate (0.01-2.14 mg/l), and nitrate (0.5-25.7 mg/l) were suitable for freshwater aquaculture to support fishery reserve. Based on the clustering of those stations, 5 observation stations were grouped into two different groups, namely cluster 1 with the number of observation stations of 2 stations (Stations 1 and 2) and cluster 2 with the number of observation stations of 3 stations (3, 4 and 5). The parameter values of total phosphate, pH, DO, and nitrate in cluster 1 tend were higher than in cluster 2.Keywords:Peat swampFreshwaterWater quality
